They’re off!! Early Monday morning Dw and Emma were packed and ready to head to Albuquerque. They have 4 suitcases to check – stuffed with 3 trumpets, 1 trombone, 204 Beanie Babies, 500 lollipops for the orphanages, fill-in-the-blank workbooks for the pastors conference, teaching materials, Emma’s VBS teachers materials, craft materials, dozen of Granola bars and some random snacks!

Poor Dw was having a rough time. He is so tall and I have a new hanging basket on the porch….at just the right height (if I were trying to konk him on the noggin). He banged it once and came in holding his head. I said, “Did you break the basket?” He didn’t think that was very sympathetic of me. (Ooopsie!) Then he was in the kitchen and someone had left a top pantry door open – KONK! He hit it hard too! Then he ran out to his truck again – KONK – a second time hitting the basket! (This time he banged it so hard the basket fell to the ground and broke to smithereens. (That was a fun 2 days with the basket!) Poor guy, I began to pray and wondered if he really should be driving to Albuquerque?? He recovered after I gave him gobs of sympathy.

It was early, but just before leaving Isaiah woke up. He came out and he hugged Emma for along while. Then he leaned over to Daddy and without any prompting, “I love you Daddy.” Sweet and precious little one. We have tried to explain how long they will be gone and that they are going very, very, very far away – but they will be back!!

Their travels are taking them to Albuquerque where they will park the car and fly to Houston. From Houston they have a direct flight that is 14 hours long to Dubai. They overnight in Dubai. From Dubai they fly another 7 hours to Kampala, Uganda. Leaving our home at 7 am Monday morning and they will be in Kampala about 48 hours later around 7 am (our time) on Wednesday.
