We try regularly to take our kids on “dates” alone. I knew with Emma leaving for Africa the summer is all of a sudden much shorter. Her all time favorite place in Durango to eat is The River Rat and it’s only open from May to August. Just before she left for Africa we decided she and I needed a lunch at The River Rat. It sits right beside the River so anyone eating there can enjoy the rafters and kayakers who cruise by partaking in the white water rafting.…great fun to watch!

We had a blast as we talked about her dreams of Africa and all the things that Moms and Daughters talk about when they have a wonderful relationship. God has truly blessed me with this precious young woman! For days after Emma said, “Didn’t we have fun mom at the River Rat? Oh yes my sweet Emma Joy – we surely did!!!
