Friday August 1, 2008 and Silverton, Colorado

Emma met a young man at camp a little over a year ago. She had never shown even a bit of interest in young men, until him. His name is Alton and he lives kitty-corner across the state from us (daddy especially liked that when we first heard of Alton!). They have corresponded for the last year and counted down the days till camp again this year.

For Emma’s birthday we decided to fly Alton (with big sis’s airline privileges) here for a week long visit – unbeknownst to Emmy. She had absolutely no clue. Friday morning after our date we ran to the airport to get Alton. The kids were waiting at home, all gussied up to go to Silverton as a family for the day. Imagine the shock on Emma’s face when we walked in the door with Alton. Her mouth dropped open and she started to cry and cry and cry. It was priceless.

They are not officially dating (not until she is 16 and then only with some strict perameters), but sure enjoy each other’s company!! He is a sweet gem and has a heart for ministry and missions. We are finding him a true delight to have around and are so thankful he was able to come.
Alton and Graham became good friends at camp last year also. Graham was so tickled that Alton was coming for a week.

Silverton is a little mining/cowboy town and is one of our favorite places and we love going as a family and loved taking Alton to this beautiful place. Handlebars is the most fun place to eat in Silverton and the views on the way up at Molas Pass are incredible. We always stop to take pictures there. The kids had a great time trying to throw rocks into the little lilly pad laden lake below. What a wonderful family day!

I think I know a few people this place was named after…..
The handsomest little cowboy in the west!!
