The Blog Lurker is Coming – The Blog Lurker is Coming!!

This whole blogging thing is ever so delightful in so many fun ways. People are invited into homes and hearts that would otherwise be never known and friends we already knew we can be part of their lives even if they are living on the opposite side of the world. I even can “visit” my precious friend in Ch*na in the middle of her night, find out what she is thinking or feeling, leave her a little message, so she knows I am thinking of her, praying for her, missing her and I never even had to wake her up to do it.

Then there are times when we stumble upon someone’s life through the blogging world and we feel that instant connection. There is just something about that person that you automatically just find intriguing or amusing or challenging or fascinating. With a few clicks of a button you are part of their lives and they have become your “friend” maybe without them knowing that you exist and you never had to even leave your home!

Listen to how crazy this is: A few months back I got an email because of a woman who had read our Journey to Isaiah and said after “lurking” for months she knew she had to write. We both have Army Ranger sons, are adopting our 8th child, both have kids from Korea, both have four year old sons and both of our 4 year old sons have club feet (Isaiah’s is part of his Arthrogryposis). I wrote her back and we became wonderful friends. Her name is Sally. We then started talking on the phone. We, indeed have tons more in common. It’s so weird.

We have joked that we are twins separated at birth….so it gets even crazier…this past Sunday afternoon I had a few minutes and I phoned her to talk for a speck in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here and I am always needing to multi-task, so I thought while talking to Sally I would let Nelly (one of our beloved pooches) spend some time running around outside and as long as I am doing that, why not pick up some of Nelly’s land mines she has graciously deposited all over? So while cleaning up the piles and talking to Sally I mentioned, “I’m cleaning up dog poop” to which she said, “NO YOU ARE NOT?!?!” I said, “Yes, I am, why?” She said, “So am I!” OKay blogging friends, that’s just plain freeeaky! We really are twins separated by 9 years. She even signs things, “your younger twin”. Just imagine how if it weren’t for blogging we would have missed out on a really wonderful friendship.

Some time ago I began following the Journey to Lucy Joy. I loved how her mommy wrote and one day she posted something very sweet about me – my mouth dropped open. I decided I needed to write her and hence, also began, a very wonderful friendship with Lori. We write, talk and pray for each other. She has been such a blessing. In the midst of all this “getting to know each other” stuff I found that she and her family have vacationed in our beautiful town for years and would even love to live here one day!

So in just a few hours she and her family are heading our way for a little vacation time and we will get to have coffee together and dinner together and our families will play!! Wooo Hooo! We can’t wait!! Now, you can imagine what our kids are saying? A few weeks ago the discussion in our home went something like this: “Mom, there is some lady you don’t even know heading here to see us?” “You met her on the internet?” “How do you know she’s really a she?” Dw and I kept laughing and they were too. All the rules that we have for our kids about internet friendships had gone out the window – lousey examples that we are!

Since that time, our kids have actually become friends through Facebook. Lori’s oldest, Brenden, is the same age as my Emma and Lori’s second oldest, Nick, was born the exact same month as our Graham (13 years ago we waddled together and didn’t even know it!). And my kids are thoroughly looking forward to their visit. We can’t wait for Lucy Joy and Isaiah to play together too.

Oh yes, how I love this blogging thing!! And yes, I can’t wait to post pictures of my blogging friend and I together – in person!! Wooot! Woot!

  1. LOL!! Tell your kids to ‘do as we say, not as we do’! And that I really am a ‘she’ but it wouldn’t hurt to have papers ready to go for a restraining order!! 🙂

    See you very soon!!

One of your most loyal lurkers,
    Lori

**the way I see it, if we can successfully get through the adoption process, we must be at least partially OK!

  2. I have been lurking on your blog for a couple of months but after this post I had to say HELLO. I love your thoughts on things and can relate to so much! I have a crying heart for adoption and would love to add more children to our family. I believe God is working on my husbands heart in this area! We recently moved to the Pacific Northwest (God’s Country) 😉 and are in the middle of building our new home. I am praying the next project will be adding more children to it! Our children are 13, 11, and 9 and I can’t stand the thought of an empty nest! We both know the best and most practical solution to that problem 🙂 All of this to say HELLO!

P.S. Thanks for introducing me to Room for Atleast One More blog. It has been and honor to pray for this family and their darling Susannah!

  3. How cool is that?! I just came across your blog and was shocked to see that your friend “Sally” is also a “song thief”. Ask her to tell you about it!

God used her in a BIG way and I will always think of her when I think about that happy momemnt in my life.

    Blessings,

    Ohilda

I know that we will meet someday with our boys and we will be friends forever.!!

  5. I am a lurker too and your blog is one of my favorites as is Lori’s! I can hardly wait to see pics of you two together and your children- esp. Isaiah and Lucy!
    Have fun!!
