Many Hands Make Light Work

A few months ago I asked the Lord if He could provide some fruits and vegetables for free this fall! I also told the Lord that if He would bring me any free fruit or vegetables I would be a good steward and not let any waste but rather freeze, can or something(!) all of it!

We were driving to our friend’s home the other day, with a slight detour to run an errand. On the side of the road there was a sign: Pears For Sale. Deciding to run the errand first we would head back to check after how much the pears were. But after finishing up the errand Dw pulled out heading the opposite from where the Pears For Sale sign had been.

About one minute up the road there was a sign that said, “FREE Pears”. Brakes screeching! Wooo Hoo! We pulled in and went to the door. The elderly woman at the door said, “Do you want some pears? I already have a bag picked for you!”

We had figured, at least, that we would have to pick them, but no, someone had already done that. She said she hated for the pears to go to waste and just would love for us to take them. The bag was huge!! Probably almost 3 feet tall and loaded with not yet ripe pears!

Although I love canning fruits we are in the midst of a remodel and since I wasn’t sure what to do with the pears I prayed. I would not waste them! The Lord reminded me how we love smoothies in the winter and so we cut them up and bagged them to freeze so that over the winter we can pull out bags and add them to the smoothies!

The kids had friends spend the night after the Barn Party and what a good thing to spend part of Saturday doing, with a fire in the fireplace and it raining outside….and they will be so yummy this winter! Free pears – Yippee Jesus!
