Our Wild Adventure – Part THREE

I am truly getting a kick out of telling you, my bloggy friends, the story…and really, it is such a God story! Dw thinks I am cruel to drag it out, but I promise – for those who don’t know the story – it is the kind that will make you gasp and giggle with me – I just know it!! And Lisa – fun to see your comment – I pray your day is encouraged – God is always faithful (not just to me) but to ALL!!

So back to the story….Because of the terrible internet connection in Uganda they were unable to send any pictures of Elijah. So I had to wait a EIGHT whole days – and so I will make you wait too!!!! LOL

On the 4th of July Graham, Liberty , Isaiah and I were headed to the parade in a neighboring town. I was trying to find the Blue Star Moms to walk in the parade with them and I had already dropped Graham, Liberty and Isaiah off to stand on a corner and wait for me to come back so we could find the Blue Star Moms together.

While frantically hunting for a place to park so I could find the kids where we would inturn find the Blue Star Moms Dw called me on my cell from Africa. He was telling me again all about our Elijah. He was smitten! I was trying to pay attention but also very lost driving around this town I had never been into before (driven by but that’s all).

Dw told me there were several kids leaving the home and I wondered if that meant Elijah too. He said the kids who left the Baby home went to what they call “the big orphanage”. Once they are at the big orphanage they are never, ever, ever able to be adopted again. He had also heard they did not even allow outsiders at the Big Orphanage!

He also told me that he was really going to see an attorney. I said, “Don’t blow smoke at me babe. Are you serious? Cause I can’t get my hopes up.” He promised me he was serious and that he already knew the name of a prominent attorney who was also a member of parliament!!

Of course in the midst of this whole conversation I was dripping tears – (it rips my heart out anytime I hear of kids being put in circumstances where they are never allowed another opportunity for a forever family), on top of trying to find the Blue Star Moms mixed up with all the excitement of Elijah and terribly lost and my kids were somewhere on a street corner. It was a short conversation, but I hung up thinking, ‘he is so smitten with him – WOW! He is going to an attorney on his own! – This is really going to happen – just like the Lord told me!!’

The next morning I was kicked by Mistletoe (our horse) and ended up in the ER with a very serious deep muscle injury. When Dw finally did call on the 5th I told him all about the injury and our horse and that I couldn’t walk and all the rig-a-ma-roll that goes with such a not-so-fun injury. We really didn’t get to talk about Elijah.

The next few days are a bit of a blur because of the injury and all the other things going on. Somewhere in there he went to the attorneys to talk to him. The attorney told him that he needed to come back to see him again, but this time Dw had to bring the Orphanage Director back with him. So they set up an appt for July 11th and Dw headed back to the Baby Home/Orphanage to talk to the director.

I kept asking him to try to email me a picture, but he was still unable. ARGGH!! And if you think it is driving you crazy – it was making me nuts! I had felt that God had shown me what Elijah looked like, and now I couldn’t wait to see his picture to see if, indeed, God really had given me a picture in my head of what our little Elijah looked like.

Part FOUR coming soon – promise!!
