A Bit of This and A Bit of That

I want to thank all of you friends for praying for Bryson. He is still not doing very well, so please continue to pray fervently. Thank you also to all of you who posted sweet comments on Sally’s blog. The comments were printed and taken to her by her friend and they are being used to minister to Sally. If you haven’t posted a comment on her blog, it’s not too late. =)

And this seems like a perfect time to mention something else. I just added a feature on my sidebar called Twitter. Maybe most of you know all about it, but I just started doing it today. I know several people who have it. This is how it works….you sign up and “follow” someone (or lots of people) on Twitter. The person you are following updates their Twitter (it can be about random stuff or serious stuff). You can either get their update on your email, or you can even get it on your cell phone through a text message, depending on the setting on their account.

If you set your account settings to get updates in the form of a text message then you pay for a normal text to come to your phone. If you have a text plan then there is no charge for it to come to your cell.

Anyway, I have been thinking and praying about this for a long time. Many of you have written to me and said you felt like we were your family or that we were your good friends. We feel the same way.

Infact the morning of the fire, as the house was billowing smoke and before the first fireman even showed up, all I wanted to do was get on my blog and ask you my sweet friends to pray. I know you guys love us and pray for us and care deeply.

So that brings me to Twitter. If I had had a Twitter account the morning of the fire I could have sent a text to Twitter who would have inturn sent a message to all my Twitter friends. If you had your account set up to get updates from me on your cell you would have had a text within minutes of me sending it to Twitter. If you had it set to your email you would have found the message that our home was on fire when you checked your email.

The cool part of it all is that you could Twitter me a message back. All you have to do is hit “reply” on your cell and then type this “D LinnyLee” (the “D LinnyLee” is essential and the “D” stands for Direct) and then type your message to me (up to 150 letters) and I would have had a reply from you instantly. Isn’t that amazing? We could even keep in touch just for fun!!

I would like to use my Twitter for fun, but also for prayer requests…just like Bryson or other friends or our own family. I was even thinking….. now that I am a Police Chaplain I am on call a week at a time. If I get called on to go do a Death Notification or minister to something big going on, there would be no time to write a blog post, but it would be awesome to Twitter and let my buddies know to pray right then!

No one has to sign up for Twitter to read the updates on my blog. Hitting the arrows at the bottom of the badge will allow anyone to see what I’ve Twittered about lately. So if you want to hear the scoops first hand from me, sign up for Twitter by hitting the little line under the Twitter badge.

Blessings to you sweet friends around the world! xo
