The Sacrifice of Our American Heroes

You, my bloggy friends, know just how much I love and respect our military. Here’s an up close and personal story about two of our personal heroes. *tears welling*

Over the years we have had many friends serve our great country and some of you bloggy friends are military wives (how I love and respect each of you! Thank you so much for your sacrifices!!)

Two of our family’s personal heroes are my cousin and his wife. My cousin serves our country proudly and has for many, many years. He is a graduate of West Point. He is also currently deployed. He met his wife (who happens to have become a very close friend of mine) while she was also serving our country (although she has since “retired”). My cousin has a very high rank in the military, but chooses to do a job that puts him up close to danger on a regular basis.

Anyway, they, like many couples, have experienced infertility and loss. BUT God moved on their behalf and this past Friday they delivered their first baby – A beautiful baby boy, while my cousin watched via the computer, being as he is in the Middle East protecting our freedom.

In our society where the sacrifices of these heroes is often neglected, not recognized or even looked at with contempt I asked their permission to share with you my bloggy friends their joy….in hopes of reminding each of us of the sacrifices of those who love our country and, often, because of their duty they are not even able to be at the birth of their long-awaited first baby.

Meet my cousin, his wife and their first baby – a beautiful son….

S, J and now baby N, how we love you!! We miss you greatly and I pray that this summer, J, we can see you and meet little N. xo

  1. Congratulations to a precious family and their new baby boy!! Thank you for all of your sacrifices to protect our freedoms. We love and appreciate you and are so thankful for your service. Blessings to all of you, today!

  2. He is soooooo BEAUTIFUL! WOW, I just wrote a post that had me in tears already and now your making it worse.

Tell them thank you for serving our country even when the father has to miss out on something so precious.

God is good! I know the feeling of infertility and then a miracle child.

  3. Sweet, precious, long awaited baby boy, welcome to God’s great world! Thank you Lord for bringing baby N safely into this world. Thank you for his daddy who bravely serves. Protect him Lord and bring him home safely. Thank you for his mama, who has sacrificed much in the name of freedom. Give her strength and wisdom Lord as she learns to be a mama. Thank you for blessing S and J with this sweet little man. You are faithful!

Thank you Linny for sharing their beautiul story.

    Love you ~

  4. What a wonderful post! I’m in a relationship with a s*ldier and have the utmost respect for this man and what he does to serve our country! Though I have no doubt in my mind I will marry this man, I know I will worry my heart over him too! But I love him beyond words, respect and admire him and look foward to walking along side of him! I also know that my knowledge of the army will grow vastly!

  5. Congrats-so neat he got to watch via internet. I have several friends that had babies and Daddys were not there for the birth, most all of them have said to me in different words although they missed it their children will know it was for a great cause!

  6. I am also a military wife. I had to deliver my son while my husband was on depl*yment. I know how hard that is to hold your child in your arms and long to have your husband there to hold him as well! May God continue to bless this family and all the wives who are expecting while their husbands are overseas, their husbands may be gone, but they are never alone!!

    God Bless You!

  7. What a big boy!!! And what a sweet picture of daddy in uniform on the laptop! I thank God for some of these modern technologies that help bring our loved ones so far away a little bit closer especially in times like these!!!

    God Bless our Troops!

  8. Precious! I too am in tears daily thanking all of our service men and women, and I know today is not exactly Thankful Thursday, but for your cousin and his wife I am ever so thankful for technology so that this first time daddy could see his little one be born.

  13. Congrats on the precious new arrival in your extended family. He is absolutely adorable. I hope you get to meet him really soon.
Thank you for sharing your heart and thoughts on the military. I was just sitting with my 8 and 10 year old sons—they wanted to talk to mommy about something. They proudly told me that they had been thinking a long time about what they wanted to be when they grow up–join the US military! They said they want to live in America forever so that they can serve thins country. My heart swelled 🙂

  14. As the mom of a mar*ne I have to say a big AMEN to what you said. Please thank these gracious people and I prayer God’s blessing and protection over them.
