Grieving

I am literally walking out the door but I thought I would ask you, my sweet bloggy friends, for prayer. While driving home from Greeley on Wednesday we found that our insurance company had approved our log home to be called a total loss.

Yesterday we spent the day gathering the last of the stuff out of our little log house. They were the things that we had not been able to part with: smoke damaged or charred, but holding special memories. We pitched most in the dumpster. I cried almost the entire day.

There is something about grieving. It is gut-wrenching and painful. We realize that this will officially end this season of our little log home. (We will not be building a log home, more on that later.) It held precious memories and we as a family are grieving all that our log home represented and the times we shared there.

In just a few minutes we will watch them begin to bulldoze our log home. They will take it all including the foundation. They will even scrape the dirt away to try to rid the land of the smell of the rancid smoke/chemicals.

This morning I woke up very early and went to spend time alone with my sweet Savior. I had a precious time in deep prayer and then asked the Lord if He would please speak to me about this log home and this season. He spoke so incredibly clear. When I told Dw about it Dw started to cry. He had been praying that the Lord would speak to me today. I will share what He said soon. But for now I have to head to the log cabin to watch them begin to bulldoze.

If we should cross your mind today, your prayers will be appreciated.

  1. You are all in my prayers today for strength and heaing as you begin a new chapter in your life.
I have often shared with my husband, who is a pastor, the strength and depth of faith you share here. You have encouraged us more than you know.
May God wrap His loving arms around you today and hold you close.

  2. Linn, I have been keeping up with your blog but not writing because I don’t have a blog. But this time I will use my sons’ because I just can’t not write. I can only imagine how it feels to watch your beloved home be wiped off the planet. I am praying for you all today, as I have been since we met you in March. We really love you guys and wish we were closer. What you have been through and what you are going through is so mind-blowing! Please know that you have friends praying in Arizona.

  3. Your are in our thoughts and prayers today. We love you and your wonderful family. I know this is an emotionally wrenching time for all of you. But I know that what God has in store will be beyond anything you could ever imagine. He is just so awesome like that. Hugs and prayers. Sommer

  4. Oh my precious friend–I am so absolutely heartbroken for you. There just are no words. I am praying that the Father spoke sweet words of LIFE to your heart this morning–words of restoration and healing! I am praying that your heart was encouraged by the gentle voice of our Savior!

I can only imagine how painful today has been for you. I am trusting that as the foundation of your old home was taken away today–that God would begin to REBUILD! That He would begin to put all the pieces of your lives back together and that He would lead and guide you in the next steps you need to take. I know He will 🙂

Sending you a HUGE hug, my friend. Know you are being prayed for.

    Lots of love.

  5. believe it or not, I am very fond of your log home too.
From when I started reading your blog I thought it is so great that you live in such a cozy little home.
And now, in some way, I grieve too.

  6. Coming out of lurking to tell you I am praying and will continue to today. I can’t imagine. It makes my heart ache just to think about it. May you feel God’s arms around you all day.

    Blessings~

  7. Father, hold this family in your arms. Comfort them as they cry for all they’ve lost, and may they feel your peace as they rejoice in all that You have given them.

  8. Dearest Linny,
IF you should cross my mind? Not IF, but rather when. I was just thinking of you, and decided to see what your blog said today, and there you are asking for prayer. Consider it done, friend.
Remember that the Lord isn’t allowing anyone to bulldoze your dreams, just the log house. It will be okay, and there will be better seasons ahead. Know that your bloggy friends are thinking of you, praying for you and sending our love your way.
    In His hands,
    Alycia

  9. Oh Linny! I am just in tears reading how the Lord spoke to you today- I can’t wait to hear all about it! I am praying for you right now and pray that today has been one that is covered with the Lord’s peace. ((Hugs))

  10. WOW.. life is just FULL of bitter-sweet moments isn’t it? I will most definitely lift your family in prayer. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the story.

    LOVE YOU!

  11. Linn, I will for sure be in prayer for you today. I can’t imagine the loss you must feel. I am so sorry. I will lift you and your family up and pray for peace that surpasses all understanding.

  12. Linny,

I am so sorry to hear about your difficult news today. I know how difficult it is to see your home, once a place of security and love, burned and then gutted. We had a house fire April 3rd this year. It’s a yucky feeling.

What a blessing that the Lord chose to speak to you so clearly today, when you needed to hear from Him most. I can’t wait to hear what He said!

As for us, the first week of June, our roof will come off and be replaced, soda blasting of all the smoky wood will begin, then they’ll prime everything and at that point, we’ll start over. I’m trying to see the silver lining in the cloud and even though we didn’t need new anything, I’m trying to plan my new house better for my ever growing family.

I’ll be praying for you today.

    Blessings,
    Laura

  13. I just recently stumbled across your blog and immediately became a follower! I too am a pastor’s wife, and we also have been blessed by adoption.

I feel so called to pray for you and your family. I pray that our precious Lord Jesus would cradle you in His loving arms and give you that indescribable peace that surpasses all understanding!

  14. God Bless you and keep you! The memories will always be there. Trust that better times are to come. Your blog gives me such inspiration. I know that God is leading each of us in his own way. You have helped me literally turn EVERYTHING over to him. I have had some major trials and they have all had postive outcomes. Thank you for your blog!!!

  15. Linny, I had chills reading your post. I will pray for all of you to come to terms with what is lost. A house is so much more than a building, it IS part of what makes a home. I am so glad that your dream to live in a log cabin was fulfilled if even for a short tome. God, is the master planner and he will guide you. And your family is safe!!!!!!!!
    love and hugs

  16. I love that we worship a Lord that longs to speak to us. He is the great Comforter! He doesn’t desire us to hurt though their will be painful things that happen in our lives. I am so glad that He spoke the words you needed to hear and that your heart was open to hearing from Him. I’m sorry you had to go through this but I do trust in the promise that He does work all things for good.
    blessings,
    Dawn

  17. Sweet friend….praying for you tonight and sending you a big hug. I’m sooo looking forward to hearing what God spoke to your heart this morning.

  18. My day has just now slowed down and I stopped by to check on your precious family. My heart is burdened for you as you go through this season. I am lifting you up to my heavenly father, the God of all comfort and provider of peace. May He carry you when you are too tired to walk this journey!

  19. Will be bowing my head more than once tonight for you and your family.

Know it’s about something different (our body and soul), but a verse I have kept in my head all these years and comes to mind now… “When this tent we live in-our body here on earth-is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home He Himself has made, which will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 5:1

  20. Your entire family will be in my prayers today and the days ahead! I pray that God will do this
“…bestow on you a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. You will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61:3
