Promise of Restoration

A couple of weeks ago I shared that the Lord had spoke very clearly to me the morning our sweet log home was going to be bulldozed.

Today the kids and I went over to the log house to feed our kitties. Our little kitties are more than perplexed saying -what in the world happened? Imagine what they are thinking….lots of kids playing with us, noisy trucks and men in weird suits, yikky smoke pouring out, people gone, now house gone….I mean, come on – what gives?

Tomorrow they will pour the footers and begin the process of building our new home. While there today with the four little ones I had taken a bottle of oil. I wanted to anoint our bare land one more time and dedicate to the Lord. (We have done this with all our homes and we will do it again when Dw is home from Africa, but I really wanted to do it BEFORE they even began any building.) Liberty and I prayed as we did it. Isaiah was engrossed in a huge ant hill and opted out. Elijah and Elizabeth watched as I poured the oil around the perimeter of the dirt pad for our new home.

Anyway, the morning that the log house was going to be demolished I had gotten up early. My heart was heavy and I needed to hear from the Lord. I got up and was going to look and see where the daily (Read through the Bible) reading that our church has on its web site. This is normally how I do my morning Bible study. But this morning I said, “Lord I need to hear from you. Show yourself to me without turning to the daily reading.”

He speaks through the daily reading but I kind of wanted a special surprise from Him. I then literally opened my new Bible (that is NOT all creased and underlined) and there on the very top of the page were the words: Promise of Restoration (I had never read this passage before.)

I was almost giddy!! I could not believe it. Now I know that I needed to hear that God was going to restore, but even more I needed to know that it would be a place of refuge. The whole fire thing has left us all having to pray regularly for peace and rest. Those who have walked through the trauma of getting your kids out of your burning home know what I’m talking about. It is a freaky thing that one definitely has to reckon with – and it all takes time.

Well as I read the chapter that entititled a Promise of Restoration it said, “I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” Wow!! The very thing I/we desperately needed…peace and security………(then it went on to say)…..”I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before.”

I rejoiced the entire day and have had incredible peace about it all since that day. Your prayers have played a huge part and I am so thankful for y’all. I think I want to someday have a sign made for our home that people can see as they come down the long lane that says:

A Place Called Simplicity
*enjoying abundant peace and security*
