The Surprise Revealed =)

Truly, it was all Dw’s idea to leave you guessing and hanging yesterday. He thought it was just so funny! Now you have a better idea how to pray for me.
But here’s what happened: Yesterday morning I was just about to get in the shower and Dw’s cell phone starting ringing. He said, “Oh it’s Tyler.” He answered his phone and I climbed in the shower.
Later as I was getting dressed I said, “Hey, what did Tyler have to say?” Dw started to smirk. I mean smirk BIG TIME. I looked at him like, “HUH?” If it was one of Dw’s buddies I would have guessed that they wanted him to go golfing or to a sporting event….but what could he be smirking about? We knew that Ty was coming home for some much deserved leave time in about 10 days so it couldn’t be that he was coming home, I already knew that!

I was standing at our bathroom sink and I said, “Come on Dw, what are you smirking about?” He said, “The hash browns are really good Tyler’s getting married while he’s home week after next could you please pass the ketchup?” I said, “Are you kidding me?” I was ecstatic!!
Ty thought that I would be upset, ya’ know, no big wedding with lots of friends coming, etc. WHATEVER!! I was just thrilled for them. Tyler and Sarah have been dating for a few years had gotten engaged this past Christmas and were intending to get married this fall shortly before he depl*ys again.
But this is what he said to his dad yesterday morning: “Dad I’ve been doing alot of thinking. This last depl*yment was far worse than the first one. I came very close to death Dad on several occasions. Life is short. I don’t want to wait. I want to marry Sarah now. You just never know Dad.”
Then Daddy and he talked about how to break it to me. They thought I would be bummed that it would be spur of the moment and only immediate family. Dw had told Ty that we were just about to go on our morning date and Ty told Dw that he had to break it to me. My two men are so funny. Ty said you should say, “Hey honey, these hash browns are so yummy Ty’s marrying Sarah when he’s home week after next and could you please pass the ketchup?”
I called Tyler and started to cry telling him how thrilled I was. Then Dw and I went and got a bouquet of roses and took them to Sarah while she was working (she works at Starb*cks downtown). Later in the day Sarah came over and we talked about how to pull it off in less than 2 weeks.
Sarah wants Autumn, Emma, Liberty and I to going wedding gown shopping with her on Tuesday. Her older sister may join us later in the day. Sarah and Ty have long talked about having the wedding at our log home, but since it’s gone and there are dozers and land movers and dirt piles and a dumpster thrown in for good measure….that may not work. We will go see the land and she what she thinks in the next day or so. It may be on the back patio at our rental.

Sarah is number 3 of 6 kids and so with just immediate family there will be about 20 people attending. They think they will get married on Thursday, June 25th or Friday, June 26th then they will head to the base he is stationed at in the Pacific Northwest.
Emmy and I found a veil at a yard sale this morning that we are going to make her wear when we go wedding dress shopping Tuesday. I get all choked up when I think about the joy that we will be sharing in just about 12 days. Abi and Ryan are coming home and we will have a family picture with Elizabeth and Elijah and Sarah too. We are thrilled to pieces!! So rejoice with us sweet bloggy friends!! (And forgive Dw, he’s such a goof!)

So happy for your entire family. Look forward to seeing wedding photos. I vote for June 25th, it has been a good date for us as this year will be our 15th anniversary. Look forward to hearing about all the wedding details. Planning a wedding in 12 days is tough but can be done. Best wishes!

Blessings to you to mom and dad…how fun!! Can't wait to hear more about the preparations and to see pictures from the big day!!

  17. Yeah Tyler and Sarah! May God richly bless your new life together! I understand Ty's feelings as my sweet hubby leaves in the morning to go back to the desert. You just never know what will happen there and you want to treasure every minute you're together. Have a super fun time planning and getting ready! (And, be thankful for all the hassles saved with no invitations to send out!!!)

  18. I am so happy for you all! My own daughter married a A**y young man just last year. He is off on his de***ment right now. May God Bless Tyler and Sarah.

  19. Congratulations are in order, and I for one think DW did well….

Come on Linny we fellows have to stick together, otherwise you ladies would have nothing to complain…(UUuuMMmmmm) pray about…*grin*

  20. He's forgiven!

  22. Wow, I can only imagine how much your head must be spinning right now! And by the way, I think June 25th would be a great day….my 21st anniversary:) Also, we live in a military town here in the PNW, but it is a Navy town and I think your Ty is Army. But, if he they or you ever want a beatiful place to visit, we live on Whidbey Island, so just shoot us an email.

  23. Congratulations Tyler and Sarah. Have fun, my precious sister bloggy friend, sister in the LORD, shopping for a wedding gown. Sarah must be an awesome young lady to invite Tyler's family to join her in the shopping.
    Blessings,
    Robbie

  24. I am rejoicing with you and your family! They make an absolutely ADORABLE couple. Life is to short. I'm so glad they are following their hearts. God's blessings to them both for many Happy Healthy years!!!

  25. How exciting!!!! Looks like y'all have some fun planning to be done! My sister gets married May 27th…its coming up SO QUICK!

I had such an awesome time with Pastor Dwight, Emma and Graham (and Ryan and Abi!) on the AFRICA trip! You have such an awesome family! It was so great to get to meet part of your big family! I really hope that one day {preferably soon} I can come up to Durango to meet the rest of your family and see the team again! I miss them all SO MUCH. It was so hard to say goodbye at the airport in Dallas! I hated it!

Give Emma a big HUG from me! 🙂 And go ahead and tell her that I am so happy she is now apart of my "life story"…she'll now what I am talking about 🙂

Love your sweet family and can NOT stop thanking God for the amazing journey he sent me on…and to think that it all started from a blog I read…WOW! And then that my parents let me go with people i met online…ONLY GOD!

    <3 Lexie

  26. Ohhhh, congratulations!!
I'm absoulutely sure it will be "just right" and perfect in every way. What a great way to start a date, huh!!
Many blessings to all of you, and have FUN dress shopping!!!
    Barb

  27. Ooh how exciting. And I think super romantic and fun. Less stress, less focusing on what isn't important. Just the real deal!! Congrats and I can't wait to see pictures!

  28. I had an immediate family wedding only and I loved it! I did a LOT with candles and little white christmas lights. If it is agreeable to Sarah maybe your family could wear your Easter matchy stuff. If anyone has an IPod you could start downloading songs for an after wedding praise and dancing celebration. A tower of cupcakes is becoming all the rage instead of the traditional wedding cake. I know whatever it is will be absolutely beautiful because it's filled with love. Best wishes.

  29. Ok! I admit BAWLING when reading what Tyler said to DW. He is so right. Time is so short. Oh, Linny, I am so happy for all of you. You now have yet another daughter! A blessed boatload indeed.

    Congratulations!

    Ohilda

  30. That's awesome! I"m so excited and happy for them!

  31. crying tears of joy for you (really!). can't wait to see the pictures and journey alongside you for the next two weeks. what a sweet blessing to have your whole family home. not in your home, but you know where your loved ones are gathered is HOME.
    blessings, friend!
