Good News Puts Fat on the Bones

Bright eyes gladden the heart;

Good news puts fat on the bones.

Proverbs 15:30

Dw and I have loved the above verse for a zillion years. Yesterday was a really discouraging day (for so many reasons)….but then there was some really good news….and since you, our bloggy friends, have been praying so hard for my sweet hubby, I could not wait to tell you the good news (and maybe it will fatten your bones too)……

I told you all about my absolute and complete healing miracle from God here……but for those who have not been visiting with us for long: my arm/hand had trembled from Multiple Sclerosis for years…and on January 10, 2006 Dw and I prayed over the phone with our sweet friends, Dan & Lavonne from Texas….we did not specifically pray for the MS, but I was instantly healed from my trembling arm/hand during that prayer over the phone. As of yesterday it has been 3-1/2 years and it has not trembled one speck!! My neurologist said, “Linn, it must be God, because MS doesn’t go away.” Yes, our Miracle-working, Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring, Gasp-giving God moved in a gigantic way on my behalf to heal my arm/hand.

With Dw so sick, I asked Dan & Lavonne if they would be willing to pray with us last night. Yippee Jesus for phones that we can put on speaker and pray together. They prayed over Dw from Texas and asked for God’s miraculous healing….

Just before we prayed with Dan & Lavonne, Lynsay arrived with Bill and once-upon-a-time Lynsay used to work for a group of internists. After seeing Dw she said, “I have seen lots of people with Hep A and never have I seen any as sick as he is. Not even close.” Interpretation: OH MY GOLLY – He is HORRIBLE!!

Another close friend, Sara, who is also a nurse, has been so concerned also. Between Lynsay and Sara I knew at least that I wasn’t out of my mind (well at least not about this anyway -haha)….

Dw is not trying to be obstinate, but I think he just couldn’t grasp exactly how much water he needed to drink in order to re-hydrate and keep himself hydrated, and besides he feels so yukky…

Well on top of us once trying desperately to impress on him the need to get hydrated or we really, truly were going to drag his bee-hind back to the ER, we read him his good friend Clayton’s comment:

I’ll help you drag him down there by his hair. Well, ok hogtie it is. We’re praying, Dw is a great man, father and pastor and the Lord knows we need him healthy.

And Clayton dude, I said, “Whitey, you don’t have hair on your head for Clayton to drag you by, he must be referring to your armpit hair…..” and my-oh-my that guy has been guzzling ever since.

Seriously folks, he has started drinking and last night he ate his first almost real meal….and this morning he had a real breakfast. We have been celebrating big time….we believe it is only the power of all your prayers and the prayer last night with Dan & Lavonne….

Celebrate with us….throw a party….eat a hot-fudge sundae…he’s eating some real food and finally drinking…..Yippee Jesus!! xo

PS Please don’t stop praying! Pleeeeease??

  3. WILL SO NOT STOP PRAYING!

I'm thanking Jesus for every calorie and drop of hydration you can get into him!

Love the scripture! I must always get good news since I have fat bones! 🙂 hehehe

  4. I could teach you guys some of my sorority drinking songs from back in the day…..well, maybe not.

How about if I just keep praying instead? I'll continue lifting your sweet family up in prayer.

  5. Linny – we are praying for you all here. What does he like best to drink? I also had a brief thought. I can't remember now what it is, but there is some toxic gas which can be emitted from wood fires that mimic Hepatitis. I am assuming though that this would be an obvious to the docs?

  6. I've been praying and will keep praying. I've been talking to Jesus on my walks, and I'm so glad DW's eating and drinking.

DW and my DH share that whole, if we drag him by the hair, it would have to be armpit hair. I'll have to remember that one.

    Blessings and prayers,
    Robbie

  7. Dear Linny,

  10. Linny! What wonderful news. We are thinking about you all and praying. Got to get that daddy ready for his new girl coming home soon!!! I can't wait!!

  11. Linn – I have followed your blog for several months…last night, I was going back and reading about your adoptions and just how many times God has moved in your family. It truly blessed my heart. Thank you for sharing the good and the not so good…Thank you for your strength and faith that are a testament to all who come in contact with your family!

    because of Jesus…

  12. I am so happy he was able to eat… yea! This is big news. God is good. The Hep A I had the dr said it was the worst he had seen in 25 years and then it made my blood all crazy too. I have been thinking about your family each day and pray when God reminds me:) I am hopeful he will feel better very soon. I have never felt better and am so so thankful for each day I feel God gave me back as a gift. I am thankful you are such a good nurse to him too. My husband had to push the liquids too and it is hard unless someone is forcing you –so good job! Stay strong and I am so thankful and know God healed you too. Amazing! You are such a testimony of faith and hope.

  13. Hi, I have never posted in your comments before but wanted you to know that I was praying for DW.. My son had Hepatitis A (we are assuming because they never quite got it figured out) he looked terrible, lost weight, was lethargic and looked like he was on deaths door. And then just one day it went away. I did the same thing encouraging him to eat or drink to keep their strength up. From what I have read once you have had it you are Immune to it again. That is a relief.

  14. OK, I am feeling fatter by the minute!!! Dwight and Linn, praise the Lord for His healing and provision – I cannot imagine Dwight with 30 lbs less weight!!! Thank God he is eating, drinking, and laughing… and PTL for the LOA for Jubilee Promise – Here she comes. Also, we continue to pray for Autumn and to ask God for on-going healing and stamina. What a weekend this has been. You will have to post a picture of a smiling Dwight – ps. I here the Eucalyptus trees are growing under their banana leaves… we are keeping our fingers crossed. Abby has two more teams this week and reports that there are so many people helping with their street projects that she doesn't even know who they all are or where they are from – they just keep arriving. God loves working like that. Don't you love it? Thank Dwight and the team for the amazing trip of support to African Hearts and Ssenge Home. Praise Him – it is a joy to work alongside…

Love you loads… all 13 of you (if I am counting right!)

Hugs and Kisses and yes, Yippee Jesus!!!

    sending a big hug.

And I can imagine that being dragged by your armpit hair is not very fun…keep drinking DW.

  18. There is no way we will stop. You both have been anawsome blessing and we can't wait to have the real DW back in the pulpit. He will be whole for when Jubalee comes home. Yippee:)

  19. Linny,

Celebrating with you in Texas that Dw is eating and drinking. Thank you Lord!!

Father please put fat on Dw's bones!! Thank you Lord that You are bringing healing. We praise You for Your continued watchcare over Dwight!

    Continuing to pray . . .

    Love you guys,

    Tina

  20. Um…even the BEST of men (and Dw definitely falls into the category!) are awfully stubborn about their health, etc. I am SOOO glad he finally "got it," AND that you have prayer warriors to stand by your side! Still praying here in CT, and loving on you from afar…some day, hopefully this side of heaven, in person! 🙂
