Just One Week Ago

Hard to imagine that just a week ago today we were getting ready to celebrate Tyler and Sarah’s wedding at our friends home. Hard to imagine all that has transpired in that time. Hard to imagine that in one week Dw would be in the hospital….so very sick….and in desperate need of prayer and a touch from Jehovah Rapha (God our healer)…..
It was obviously the Lord that allowed Dw a brief respite from sickness to enjoy the festivities of the wedding. The kids will tell you that when they were all home last week Dw spent two full days in bed just sleeping between throwing up in the bathroom. I actually went and checked to see that he was breathing several times because he did not even come to see what was going on with the kids – so NOT like him!! He is usually in the center of the festivities and with all of them home, usually wild horses can’t keep him out of the fun…I even had his staff come over and anoint him with oil (according to James 5)….
It was while the kids were home he went to the doctors and they started running tests. But by God’s grace, Dw seemed better at the wedding and from the looks of the pictures we all had wonderful fun. It had to just be God’s grace. The tests would soon show that his liver numbers at home were already 10 times what is considered normal, but the doctor’s office there at home did nothing. They just said that the liver numbers looked suspicious. And we had no idea what that meant. Now that we are here, we have found exactly what the liver numbers should be (30) and what they were at home (300)….and what they were two days ago (2653).
Since the internet connection is working (and I keep making sure the post is saving) I wanted to share with you, our friends, just how special Tyler and Sarah’s day was. Daddy was not the pastor at this wedding. Tyler had asked him to be his best man and with tears of joy he accepted that honor. Yes, Ty and Dad are tight buds. Come peek with me, again, at what a wonderful time we had just one week ago…
Sarah looked absolutely beautiful…..
Welcome to the family sweet Sarah – welcome!!

My daughters – just missing Jubilee (so far)!! Abi made Sarah’s bouquet after choosing the ones she wanted from the florist’s supply…. Abi and Tyler….
Autumn, Isaiah and TyRyan and IsaiahJosh grilling the steaks……Cutting the ice cream cake….and feeding each other chocolate dipped strawberries (and no they did not smear them in each others face)….The first dance….My handsome best friend….dancing with one of his baby girls….little Miss Liberty….

From what I understand after the dancing was done Luke was sitting with his head in his hands. “What’s wrong Luke?” Hmmmm…seems he hadn’t had a chance to dance with his sweet friend Liberty….so the music was turned back on and from his smile….yeah…you get the idea…Elizabeth and Elijah (he was so cold we borrowed a sweater from Laura…) and no, they didn’t pose for the picture – they were truly into it….dancing the night away…..so fun!!!

The best man proposes a toast to the newlyweds…..
And they’re off on their honeymoon….don’t they just look so sweet together???
The next morning they swung by to kiss us goodbye one last time before they headed to their new home together over a 1,000 miles away..
If you want to see a really beautiful picture of the wedding….check out Abi’s photography blog….she “edited” one picture of Tyler and Sarah for the blog and it is gorgeous….no doubt…she’s unbelievably talented!! She flies all over the country doing photo shoots and weddings for people….if you are in need….check her site out…(and no, she didn’t ask me to do this)….(and Abigail, if you happen to be reading this…you promised me an edited family picture…come on, Abber-dabbers…give your mama a thrill over here in Iowa)…

  2. Those pictures are so beautiful…I was hoping to see some soon. I am so sorry about DW and we are all praying for him and for you and the rest of the family. I wish that I could help you some how!!!

  3. I have tears Linny–tears of joy and tears of sadness that your precious man lies in bed so ill. What gorgeous wedding pictures. Such a sweet couple.

KNOW this day, my friend, that many, many people are praying for your family. Standing with you and trusting that the God of the universe will breathe LIFE into Dw's liver. That even today there would be a significant turnaround and that he would begin to feel so much better. We're believing for your miracle, Linny.

I know this must be so overwhelming, and I wish there was something I could do to help you. But, I KNOW there is power in prayer–and I know my God will see you through this. I KNOW that He promises never give you more than you can handle, sweet friend.

    PRAYING!!!

  4. BEAUTIFUL wedding pictures!
I don't know if you hear local news there at the hospital, but last night there was a big story that an operating technician at Rose Medical Center in Denver was arrested for swapping dirty syringes for ones containing a strong painkiller, and now 5,700 may be at risk for Hep C. This would put at risk all who were at Rose Surgery or the Wolf Bldg. between 10/12/08 and 4/13/09. After that she worked at Audubon Ambulatory Surgery Center in Colo. Springs from 5/4/09 till 6/29/09. I don't know if your husband would have been at those institutions during those dates, but I thought I'd pass this on to you for your information. You and your family are on our prayer lists at home and at church. I am the grandmother of 2 children from China, so have a special heart for adoptive families.

  5. JUST SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!! You can truly see how much in love they are. They are a beautiful couple. What a blessing. Keep us updated on Dw. Praying…..
    Love and blessings, Kristy

  6. What a beautiful wedding! And an even more beautiful couple! Wishing them a lifetime of joy happiness and adventure!
Keeping DW in our prayers. I posted a prayer request on my blog, so anyone who comes to my site will also say a prayer for DW.
Oh, and the wedding dress was just perfect!

  7. LOVE the pics Linn, please know we are bathing all of you in prayer. Vanderbilt has a very respected liver department (for a lack of knowing what else to call it :).. I think it's where Steve Job's ended up for his transplant. We have a friend who had a very serious form of Hep. that was treated there several yrs. ago, now, he runs 10K + marathons and he is almost 60. Anyway, I know you won't fool around in getting top care for his condition. Dig your "wifey" heels in and don't be afraid to go where ever you need to go to obtain top notch med. tx. So wish I could be the friend that brings you a chai tea and puts my arms around you. I'm so sorry.

  8. I just came over from another blog that posted a prayer request for your DW and I've been so touched by the love that overflows for our Jesus here on your blog! I am praying for you family and for DW's complete healing!!! In the name of Jesus!

  10. I just love looking at your photos! The pics of Tyler & Sarah's wedding are just amazing- that one on Abigail's site is breathtaking!! It looks like something you should see in a magazine rather than on someone's mantel. 🙂

I am just shocked that the doctors didn't do a thing about Dwight's liver numbers while he was home, and I guess it does not good to wonder "what if…". I am just thankful that he is being cared for now and I am praying for all of you constantly!

  11. Praise you FATHER for Dw's liver progress! We praise YOU FATHER for your healing touch on him. We give YOU all the GLORY for what you are doing. We ask you to be their everything! Whatever they need you to be you will PROVIDE because you are the ALMIGHTY GOD who LOVES His children!

Praying for Dw's liver and fever. Hold on to your faith..

  12. Beautiful pictures! What a gorgeous family! Thank you for opening up the joys and struggles your family goes through so that the rest of us know how to pray for you. We praise God that he allowed DW time to enjoy the wedding and we are praying and believing that God is healing him at this moment. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers.

Praying for all the aspects…you precious ones at home, your beautiful ones in pain, the doctors, YOU, and all that needs to be figured out for all of your sakes!!! Oh yeah…the newlyweds too. Crazy times, we are praying!

  17. That is crazy that nothing was done about his high liver numbers! I'm so glad he's being treated now. I've been praying since you posted he was sick. The wedding looked so sweet, and they look so happy and beautiful together! God bless you and your family.

  18. We are praying for your husband and for your son. I also wanted to tell you that the picture on Abi's website is so beautiful. So romantic. It reminds me of that photo from World War I or II with the couple kissing in the street. The women has on a nurses' uniform.

  19. Your pictures are beautiful!! Kudos to you for being so so patient with the very slow internet!!

What a beautiful couple- yes I am talking about Tyler and Sarah not Elijah and Elizabeth- however they are as cute as a bugs ear!!

Thank you for sharing this joyous event- yippee Jesus!!
