Thankful Thursday

This week’s Thankful Thursday I am sooooooooooo Thankful for all the bloggy friends who came to encourage us in Iowa City. We were abundantly blessed!! I pray that one day I can head to different parts of the country and really, truly, meet many of you out there in bloggyland.
Our RV trip for this summer has been cancelled due to Dw’s illness, but there is a plan to maybe (please Lord) head to the Pacific Northwest this fall, if he is able to tolerate the trip. Now that I am getting more experienced at driving long distances, I think I can pretty much slap him into his seatbelt, throw the kids in the car and head out……so maybe just maybe one day I will head your way…….

The day before Isaiah’s surgery…..Gayle (whose daughter Gracie you all prayed for) drove a couple of hours to have lunch with us and then she and I went to Starbucks and were able to shop till we dropped. She is such a treasure and I thoroughly loved spending time with her!!

We even hit “the Loft” and found shirts we bought – matching!! Too fun!

Kelli, another bloggy friend joined Gayle and I for a bit of shopping. Kelli also drove a couple of hours just to meet up.

Then Jean’s daughter, Katie, came and surprised Dw and I during Isaiah’s surgery. Little did I know that by the next day I would be asking her to help me by watching Liberty and Isaiah so that I could spend some time at the hospital with Dw. God’s miraculous provision and at during Isaiah’s surgery, I had no idea what the future held. Katie is a true delight, such a wonderful blessing!!!

Another bloggy friend, Kim, had her daughter-in-love, Danielle, bring this balloon and tractor (with M&M’s and Skittles) to Isaiah while he was in. And for the record, the balloon made the entire 1250 mile trip back to Colorado in one piece! Amazing and such a blessing…..

Last, but not least….Jean & Jim…absolute gifts from God. They came with their kids to visit Katie and invited Liberty and I to join them for dinner. Such a sweet blessing to us….and helped to make the time Dw was in the hospital so sick, so much sweeter. Jean came later and prayed with me…..such a treasure friend! Thank you Jean! xo
Liberty and Sarah were fast buds immediately…..Thankful for Ronald McDonald houses that have playrooms…..so very wonderful!! Really, who would have thought the beautiful friendships that blogs would bring?? I am privileged to call each of you – those whose necks I have hugged and those whose necks I have yet to hug….thank you for your friendship, thank you for your prayers, I am humbled and amazed!!! xo

  1. I just love that! Bloggy friends truly are a blessing! I know our Father is just thrilled that His family is joining together through creative ways!

  2. I am very, very sad but I figured the RV trip would be cancelled. Well, I guess we will just have to make a trip to Colorado sometime. I just told Rett that I think all the great people are in Colorado anyway.

Looking forward to one of those hugs…but looking more forward to returning the hug and expressing my gratitude for you. (Even if it is on the other side of heaven).

    Still praying with

    in California!

  4. Oh Iowa City…when I was a child I was there for my radiation treatments…as a parent there with one of our children- in that same Ronald McDonald house. What a blessing the hospital always seemed to go the extra mile to help! Not that it is ever fun to be there, but at least the staff seemed great.

  5. Even in the midst of all of the junky stuff that has been thrown your way (more in these past 6 months than some people would have to endure in a lifetime) it is so cool to see how God has been preparing the way for you.

I first came to your blog right after the fire when someone mentioned it in a Tweet, and I'm sure a lot of other people did too. All of us have become faithful followers and prayer warriors for your family since then, and it's so cool to see how God has been using bloggy friends in your life to help bear your burdens.

If you ever make it to Wisconsin I want to know so I can give you a big hug!

  6. Hi Linny,

Thanks for stopping by my new blog… Alexis is just wonderful!!

I don't comment much here, but I'm still following every step of the way, my mom too who I think e-mailed you once that she was praying for Tyler.

In fact, I'm visiting her and while we were having dinner tonight, we were discussing Abi's absolutely STUNNING photos of his wedding… They are the THE most beautiful wedding photos I've ever seen!

    Still praying for DW!!

    Hugs,
    Sharla

  7. Well, if you are ever planning to see the north-west part of the US, why not take a short detour a little more north and come visit us in Alberta, Canada! We'd love to have you and your family and there is some great, amazing and beautiful country we could show you here!!! And for the record, I google mapped it for you, it's (only) 18 hours of driving time from Durango to where I live 🙂 Still prayin' for you all! Be blessed

  8. OK, so Shauna said she is in the Northwest, and technically, she's NOT, {but of course I love here anyway!). However, she could some see me and then WE could see you when you are in the PNW! We would have her bring Jusin and the rest of the gang, too. And maybe we could get James and his family to come join us. It would be great!

  9. We love that we have met bloggy friends on line who have a deep love for our Lord and a common purpose of loving the orphan. What a blessing God is giving us in each other's friendship. What an encouragement all of our bloggy friends have been in this new adoption journey.

    In Christ,
Janet, Kevin, Ted, Philip, and waiting for Eli

  10. Linn you are SO right! The blogging community of Believers is so amazing! It is one way the that the internet is used for HIS GLORY!
It can be used for so many yucky things, but praise Jesus for sweet bloggy friends who can "use it for good"!
I am so thankful the Lord has surrounded your family with strong support and loving arms!
We continue to pray for your family…

  11. Checked out Abi's site–WOW, that girl is talented!! I thoroughly enjoyed Ty and Sarah's photos and spent waaaaaaay too much time looking at ALL the other photos on there too. Makes me want to have Abi do a shoot of me and my dear husband, expect that he's 1/2 a world away currently. Oh, well. Still praying for healing for Dw and Isaiah. How's Autumn?

  12. It was so wonderful to meet you- I wish it had been under better circumstances for all of you especially Dw- He is a wonderful guy even when he feels rotten! Jim is still asking how his buddy Dw is doing? We were so happy to help in our little way- wish we could have done much more. Katie thinks you guys are so cool!

I loved praying with you!! I am planning to do it again- not sure where and when but hopefully when everyone is doing great! We are so thankful Dw is on the mend- and yes, we are definitely still praying for him!!

    Bless you all !!

  13. BTW- I think I may look a little younger in your pic as opposed to mine- could you e-mail me the one of hubby and me!

I may need to send it to China when it is time for the girls to see a pic of their new parents!!

hey- you gotta do what ya gotta do!

    😉
