The White Stuff

We woke up this morning to the white stuff on the ground and it was, at the time, coming down pretty hard. When Liberty got up and looked out the dining room window she said, “Ugh…I’m not ready for this.” I’m with ya’ Liberty girl, I’m with ya’.

On the other hand, Graham got up, looked outside and sort of shouted,

“AWWW! DID YOU SEE THE SNOW? THAT’S AWESOME!!”
He is one of the avid snow boarder/skiiers of the family,
so his perspective is entirely different….

And for all my sweet bloggy friends like: Keri in Florida, Kathie in Georgia, Rachel in South Carolina, Lavonne, Tina and Pink in SanAntonio, Melody in Southern California and all the rest of you…..please, please don’t tell me that you are in flip flops….cause it just may cause me to stumble – big time!!

  1. We got the white stuff in Western WA on Monday night. And we NEVER get white stuff in October … except up in the mountains. My boys are also excited about an early snow boarding season.

    No flip-flops here.

  2. I am so with you, Linny. It is snowing in Aztec too. My brother woke me up this morning yelling at me to look out the window..and I said Noooooo! I am not ready for winter!! My children, on the other hand, are already out the door and blasting each other with snow balls..

  3. Oh dear friend, you are NOT alone! I am sooooooo with you. Not ready! We have finally hit the high for today—24! wooohoooo. Gotta love it, hey?

The mere thought of flip flops makes me want to climb on the next flight to Florida!

Best I have a serious attitude change–this is JUST the beginning πŸ™

  4. Oh I think it's beautiful! My son is stationed at Ft. Carson and he texted me all weekend saying how much it was snowing! He's ready to try his hand at snowboarding!! We don't see much of the white stuff in Alabama!!

    Have a blessed day!
    Monica

  5. I'm in flip flops in Oregon in spite of the white stuff but only because I had toe surgery.

I'm not ready for it yet either even though it's already snowed several times.

  6. I'm with Liberty! I live in WI, and can not recall a time where I have dreaded winter more. Snow is pretty to look at, but that's about where my enjoyment of it ends. I'm looking at spending the next 6 months indoors with 2 little kids trying to avoid getting sick.

  7. Don’t stumble yet – we are freezing here in Northern Cal with temps in the mid 60s :). My five year old would have the same reaction as Graham (he has never seen real snow) and his biggest theological question right now is why God does not let it snow everywhere so that we can have a β€œreal” Christmas! I thought he had the real meaning of Christmas down pat – but it looks like I still have some work to do! The pictures of the white stuff are beautiful!

    Blessings.

  8. We just returned to Oklahoma from 10 beautiful days in the San Diego/La Jolla area of California. When we were flying over the Rockies Monday, I looked down and saw the snow and I thought of you. Saw a long, winding, snow-covered mountain pass, and was thankful that you and your family made it home safely from your "adventure" in the "Cottage."

Praying for a mild winter for you even though it's starting a little early.

  9. We're enjoying it here in Fort Collins! Sweet hubby came home and is outside playing with the kids. Uh…I guess that Grace didn't make it out there very long. She's coming in!

    Blessings,
    Sarah

  10. I know it may sound crazy-but it's true:

"I have never seen the white stuff!"

I have seen it in pictures, on the tops of mountains, and in the form of "ice" by the time my hubby brought back for me from West Virgina.

Once, as a child, I did see "gray stuff" in Ohio apparently it had snowed and melted and it was pretty nasty looking.

Being a Florida Native I wont tell you the temp today. but it is muggy and humid and I am in slip on keds πŸ™‚ just so you feel better

    Here's hoping… to see SNOW!

    Enjoy!

  11. Even though we live in the same town, I would have worn the flops today if I could. Snow + flip flops = too much fun!!!! But, after your driving adventure this morning, I can completely understand your position. That just means we need to take a group sledding trip! Love you lady!

  12. I just found your blog today and I want to say it's awesome. My husband and I are on the path to our first adoption but we already know there are others in our future. Your blog is such an inspiration to me.

Oh and let me say I'm near Los Angeles and it is not flip flop weather πŸ™‚ We had a horrific wind storm last evening and today the high is in the 60's but I don't think it got there.

  13. No flip flops in central Ohio only because I packed them away with the summer clothes! It is 70 here though! But don't worry we are in Ohio it will probably be 30 on friday! Sheri

  14. Linny, Up here near Greeley it hasn't quit either-so we're staying inside where its warm. I imagine you've got a lot more snow than we do but it stills seems early for me.
Make some hot chocolate and stay warm. Hugs, Noreen

  15. LOL! I won't mention that it was a sunny 72 degrees today in Ga, if you won't mention that you will probably wake up to a winter wonderland Christmas morning. Every year my kids pray for snow on Christmas day and every year we end up taping paper snowflakes to the windows.

Such a precious pic of Elijah and Elizabeth at the window in awe of the beautiful snowfall. Such a difference in what they must have seen from their windows a year ago. Their precious profiles make me smile.

  16. OK since I am not mentioned in your list….can I mention that it was in the low 70's here. And although I don't do flip flops- don't tell because in Louisiana I think that may be a sin???- It is nice. However….tomorrow you may be laughing at all of us as we have already had such heavy rains and are expecting more tomorrow- we may ALL be swimming! Really! Hey, just hoping we can get out on our road. Hey, I remember my Iowa days – lived there for 30 years and I remember snow very very vividly……of course since moving here I remember things like mosquitos year round too!

  17. Linny,

No snow today in San Antonio, but we are celebrating a "cool down". I want you to know that I wore a sweater & jeans today, and shoes, and socks . . . in your honor! πŸ™‚

    Love you friend~

    Tina

  18. Linny…

Oh how I wish we could "trade" weather times. I live in Florida, Orlando to be exact and it has been SO hot and humid here…I AM ready for some cooler weather! I would even LOVE some snow…but that's just wishful thinking. ; )

I'm the jealous one, just thinking about all "the white stuff" that you woke up to this morning. Ahhh, I guess a girl can dream…

  19. I am not sure yet how this blog world works. I left you a response to the comment you left me on my blog. I have no idea if you are sent a notification about the response. So in case you didn't get it, I thought I would copy it for you here! πŸ™‚

Double Gasp! A comment from Linny!! I can't believe it! Thanks for stopping by to say hi! I read your comment early this morning and had to wake up my husband to tell him that Linny visited. With one eye open, he said. "who?" I replied, "the woman with all the kids!!" He said, "wow!" and actually sat up to see for himself!!! We love you! We want to be you when we grow up! Ha! πŸ™‚

Have a cozy day and stay warm!

  20. I am in MO and it has rained pretty steadily for over a week. I will now be thankful that our precip was rain and not snow. It is so beautiful but I am just not ready for it yet. But a good snowball fight does sound fun……

  21. Just had to let you know that my two little kids are dressed to come visit you. They have the scarves, mittens, hats, anything else that will keep them warm. Oh, did I mention that this stuff was found in the dress up box. Yeah, we only get to use it about two days a year. We do slightly envy you for your white stuff. LOL

  22. Breathtaking views!! LOL @ Liberty…that's why I no longer live in the upper mid-west.

I live in FL, so I won't tell you that we are not only wearing shorts and flip-flops, but that I still have the a/c on. Nope, I won't tell you that at all. ;o) ;o)
