Defend the Orphan – Who To Call and/or Write

Please write and/or call Prime Minister Stephen Harper:

phone: (613) 992-4211
AND

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney:

phone: (613) 992-2235

Here’s what to say:
You have been following friends through the adoption process and are concerned that the doors for adopted children from foreign countries are being closed by Canada. North Americans should be opening door to children coming into good, loving homes that have done everything by the book.

Please do not close the Immigration doors but process them quickly!!

Thank you dear friends. I will be calling tomorrow (Wednesday) and I will also call again on Friday. I will email both days as well. Dw will be calling and writing as well.

Please keep both phone calls and emails short and polite. If you have not done any “activism” before such as calling and voicing your thoughts – I challenge you to start with this!! You can then rest knowing, besides prayer (and/or fasting) you have done all you can do! Please continue to pray with fervor for these families!!

I do not believe that this will be the end of immigration issues….as I said two posts ago, we need to be praying for God’s hand of mercy to be extended for international adoption.

Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the orphan. Fight for the rights of widows.
Isaiah 1:17 NLT

  1. Thank you Linny for the information. I just took advantage of the "wee hours" to send a couple of emails.

Oh Lord, hear our prayers. Please turn some hearts in Canada, that need turning, that these precious lambs may come home with their families! In Jesus name, Amen!

    Love you, friend ~

    Tina

  2. Linny,
I have read your blog for months but never commented. I want to send you an invitation to view my private blog. If you feel led, just e-mail me at gaunts@telus.net and I will set you up. There you will learn about our adoption journey from Uganda to Canada. I know James and Cheremi and we are fighting the same fight to bring our kids home. I would not mind at all if people who want to write to Immigration Minister Jason Kenney use our name specifically. He knows who we are…:-)

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for defending the cause of the orphan. Adoption is war. We are aching every day for our children, the ones I held in my arms for almost 3 months and then was forced to come home without.

  3. Linny!!! What are the names of the families should the prime minister ask specifically. I didn't want to look stupid…taking the chance of the rest of us to look bad as well.

I called this am, and was surprised a human answered the phone! However, the PM did not. Wanted to get the names before I called back. But in the mean time, I certainly can email.

How, how I wish we could do this for sweet Jubilee!!

  4. 2 emails sent this morning.. 2 phone calls to be made when my little ones go down for a nap! I plan on adopting after I graduate nursing school, and get on my feet. I am so glad that you sent this information. I live in the US, but do not want to see my right to adopt taken away.I will proudly defend other's rights! Praying that the situation gets resolved and those precious children can come home to their parents!

  6. Email is done for today, now I need to call. Thank you for posting a way for us to contact the powers that be. I'm praying that these children are brought home quickly! And that God's hand of mercy will continue to be extended for international adoption.

    Much love and prayers,
    Jenn

  7. Hi Linny! I always read your blog, but I have never commented. However, your passion for adoption is working its way deep into my own heart! Just letting you know I emailed both people on behalf of these little ones and their forever families. Thanks for sharing your heart and your love for Christ and His people. You have taught me many things and challenged me in so many ways!

  8. This is probably a question born of ignorance, but why is it that people use the phrase "the orphan" rather than just "orphans"? Is it strictly because that is the terminology that several translations of the Bible use?

  9. Good for you! I'm wondering if the first email address is correct though. Should it be harper not harpe? Anyone know for sure? This is the contact info I see on the gov. site –
