Today

Today while in New Mexico I heard this random screaming, “Linny, come in here. Come on Linny, come on!!” It was Ross (Dress for Less) calling my name………and so I “had” to. I couldn’t help it. I love that store! In the back I found this sign. It epitomizes my life these days. I truly laughed out loud when I read it. If you had been shopping in Ross you would have heard my laughter. Just struck me so funny. I will be hanging it in my new home.

Emma, Liberty and I went to New Mexico shopping for lights for our new home. That’s where I found the sign. It was hailing part of time and eventually it turned to snow.
Tonight Dw & I have been invited to a special night out. I am going to take pictures and then tell you all about it when I post the pictures. So mums the word for now, but Lord willing, tomorrow.

So sweet bloggy friends, what did you do today? What are you doing tonight? Guess I’m feeling rather nosey, huh?

  1. hmm… book club, baby shower, lunch w/ the kiddos, changed the sheets, got ready for a girls night, played on FB, read your blog (like every day), discovered picasa… guess just a normal saturday. Shopping in FM with you would have been a ton of fun!

  4. Well, Linny, we've been to a family reunion and a birthday party today. I took the twin sister of the kidney transplant recipient to a birthday party of the son of kindey transplant donor….how cool is that!
I hope to stay home and do nothing tonight!

  5. Well, since you asked, I did one of my favorite activities today – went shopping for a little girl Christmas dress. I can't believe that this time last year I was just six weeks away from traveling for my sweet Princess Dumpling. Being ever so practical, I decided against the taffeta fru-fru since she will only wear it once or twice. But I found the most adorable red corduroy jumper with a Christmas tree on it that she can wear the rest of the winter. Then I just "HAD" to buy a sweet brown sweater dress I saw because I had a sweater dress like it when I was a little girl. Oh my I can't wait for her to wear it to church tomorrow. Yeah!

This afternoon, I sold an antique church pew I had listed and so it's the first official money to put in our latest adoption fun.

I also attended my 8 yr old son's last soccer game of the season. He's decided he wants to try martial arts in the spring so we found a place that teaches traditional Wushu Kung Fu and we will try that. A little sad that soccer hasn't captured his fancy but he's young and in that "gotta try everything phase" and that's probably a good thing.

This evening I went to shop for groceries. I tell you, I really gotta love Aldi's, because I can feed a family of 5 for 2 weeks for $100. True I can't buy the organic stuff I used to, but I am saving at least $200/month on our grocery bill. More money for orphans. Yeah!!!

Lastly, after I post this, I am going to pray with my Dumplings and kiss them goodnight, then I am going to get in my pjs and lounge in bed reading. A most relaxing and wonderful day!

  6. LOVE that sign!!

hmm, today we picked my grandma up and wandered around Costco, then took my little sister to ballet and then home to make homemade pizza for supper(on a pizza stone YUMMM) and then we'll take her home and maybe have a movie! nice and relaxed since the next 6 weeks on the calendar are filled to the brim with christmas concerts and musicals and more!

  7. I had just the most fabulous night, I'm so glad you asked! My husband took me and out 1.5 yr old daughter mini golfing and it was so much fun! She chased the ball all over and hubby and I had a great time teasing about who was winning. Then we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner- Costco $1.50 for a hotdog and soda! Hubby is a seminary student and had a VERY busy semister and wanted to take us out to says "thanks" for being patient these past few months. Aww, I am just so content right now 🙂

  8. Dear Linny,

This morning, my sweet 7 1/2 year old daughter and I met friends at Lowe's for their build and grow project. That was followed by a playdate with friends at the park, then we were off to lunch at Chick-fil-A. After that, i surprised her with a trip to "The Little Zoo That Could" in Gulf Shores, AL
We picked up pizza at Lillian's on the way home. A great day all around!

Love the sign, by the way!

    Blessings,
    Alycia

  9. Actually a pretty cruddy day. Had to bury the pet rabbit that we have had for almost five years. It was my moms birthday and her first since my dad passed. So really ready for this day to be over.

  10. We had a fun night with new friends who have small children from Philip's preschool. We had all booked a bonfire and hayride. We had a blast! We would never have gotten to know this group of people had we not had Philip!

  11. Hey, sweetie!

Today my girl & I spent it at Yale University!!! BTW, this is her SECOND choice for a college! HA! Juilliard is her first choice. SCHOLARSHIPS, I say! SCHOLARSHIPS!
Anyhow…the Asian students there have this AMAZING program for the local community of adopted Chinese children. It's a "big brother/sister" sort of approach. They put on this big day of cultural activities on campus, and hook each kid up with a "big sib". It's is COOL!! And we have been blessed with our last two big sibs, Steven (who graduated in 2008) and Bonnie (who is a sophomore now). They have both gotten involved with us OUTSIDE of the twice yearly events, attending Shao's recitals, and Bonnie has spent a few weekends with us. She is coming for Thanksgiving weekend, as well. Her family is in CA, so she would not be going home. So…now she IS…to OUR home! 🙂

Anyhow, that's what we've been up to. It's been fun, and I reconnected with some parents, which is always fun. Then I dropped girly off for a sleepover, and will pick her back up tomorrow morning for SS and church…hope she doesn't fall asleep in the middle! 🙂

I LOVE that sign. I WANT one! I am striving not to ENVY you. The only thing that would have made it BETTER is if it said DARK chocolate! HAHA!!!!

    Love and hugs!!!!

  12. 🙂

We spent the evening with popcorn, apple pie and smoothies while we watched 8mm videos we took when the kids were babies.Someone loaned us an old video camera and so this was the very first time we have seen these family vidoes in 14 -16 years!
I can't believe how much I miss the kids being little. Makes me wish this whole adoption stuff would hurry up!!!! We need some little people around here.

  13. …a special invitation for a night out, and you're taking a camera…is there a Third Day concert going on anywhere nearby?!?!
Hubby's out of town for a couple of days and I spent most of the day/evening rearranging & organizing our little school room.
I've cleaned it more than I've used it! The kids use it alot for crafts.

  14. Putting my feet up and watching a movie after doing my boys' bedroom. What a joy to make a special place for my kiddos. Hope you are having a fun evening. Love and prayers from NE! May J. come home soon!

  15. We spent the day at a Holiday Bazzar and then hit the craft stores! Love crafty handmade goodies for gifts..plus it's great family time.
Hope your having a blast tonight! God Bless you all and praying for Miss J.

  16. Tonight? I'm staying up way too late, catching up on blogs after having a great couple of days with my oldest daughter and her fiance home. Happy to report that a photographer is now lined up for their big day. Too bad your Abi isn't closer to us!

  17. Love that sign too:-) Well over here it's been Sunday-so I lead worship at church, then we all came home and I made pancakes for lunch for fun, then finished sewing a dress for Beth, then caught up on the blogs I read, then took the littlies to the pool(it's really really hot here!) and then past McD for a sundae as a treat, and then a quiet evening at home for a change.:-) Hope you enjoyed your special night!

Oh and i was just looking back at the photos of Isaiah-my goodness i love that boys smile!!!

  18. Today was raw and rainy…really rainy! But I'm like the USPS…nothing keeps from getting stuff done. I shopped for centerpeices for our company's Christmas party. (No I'm not politically correct…it is a Christmas party).

Tonight our family and another family went bowling. It was so much fun!!! The kids are all older now so we don't get (well, seize) this opportunity enough. Finished the night with ice cream.

How can you beat that day….shopping, fun with family and friends…ice cream!

    -Laurie

  19. LOL! what a great sign!

adam and i went to some new friends of ours house for dinner, dessert, and games:) They had two other couples over, and it was a ton of fun… lots of laughter! We met this sweet couple about 3 weeks ago, and have been spending time with them about 2-3x a week– it's been such a huge blessing. Since we moved to washington, we have found it so hard to find new friends that we really click with, but these two have felt like old friends from the start.
We are now starting a bible study with them, and today is a push for people in the church to find a small group. praying that the Lord sends us amazing couples to grow in Him with!

  20. Linny,
I like your sign. My hubby and I are packing for China. Our Gotcha Day for our 1yo dd is the 23rd. Yippee!! Thank you, Jesus! Also, I'm praying for you and your Jubilee connection. Susan
