Emergency Prayers Needed

I just received a phone call from a fellow adoptive mom, Susan, who is also a doctor. She had a prayer request. Today, the State Department is meeting with a group of adoption agencies that handle adoptions from Haiti. They are pleading with our State Department to issue Emergency Refugee Visas for the children who have families paper ready to bring their children home.

Susan and her husband are in the process of bringing two children home from Haiti. Susan talked to one orphanage director and heard that the day of the earthquake the nannies heard the rumbling and carried all the children outside the building to the street. There was a second rumble and with that second rumble the orphanage walls collapsed. The children were spared because of the nannies quick action prompted, obviously, by Almighty God!

There is no doubt that God’s heart is for the orphan. Could you please stop and pray for this horrific situation? Could you ask God to move mountains with the United States State Department and allow them to show mercy to these little ones waiting for their families? Please pray for wisdom as many try to go to meet the needs of the Haitian people. Who can know the magnitude of the suffering and devastation? We must pray! And some must go! Please join Dw & I in praying….

  1. I'm a first-time signer, but I've been following you since the fire. A woman at our church lost her husband of less than a year in the 35W bridge collapse. She is waiting to bring home her two babies from Haiti and is still waiting to hear if they're ok. As I read your post, I got a big chill, hoping that's the orphanage that they are at. Praying hard for all the people of Haiti and all the people helping!

I have cried, laughed and prayed for your family over the last year. I am so excited that Miss Jubilee is finally home where she belongs! I told my husband that if I had the funds and time, I would have driven to ABQ to help greet you when you landed! Love you girl, even though we haven't met yet!

  2. Thanks for the information. I am LOVING how the blog community is making this tragedy so personal and so near. No longer in this day and age can we act as if a disaster in the world is not our business! I'm passing this on to my friends. Thank you again for sharing the real face of this tragedy!

  3. Thanks for letting us know this info. Praise the Lord for those nannies taking those orphans out in enough time! I am praying right now to our heavenly Father concerning these precious children and parents waiting to adopt them!

  4. Yes, please pray!!!!!We have three little ones in Haiti who were spared (by God's mercy) and we need to get them HOME! Pray for humanitarian or refugee visas for ALL of the kids in process…There are so many.

  5. Started praying the people of Haiti just after the quake. We have a dear friend that lives in Haiti with her Haitian husband who is a native pastor. They live in the mountains but were in PAP when the quake hit. God is merciful and but for His hand of protection could have been killed. Bastia was trapped in a bldg. and Betty was across the street crawling out of the rubble in the market store. The biggest thing she emailed me about was that all of them desperately need is WATER…..It is horrific there and also pray that the aid to the country goes to helping the people and not get stolen by greedy people trying to harm the people.
Thank you Linny for your post and I am praying alongside you. I will pass this along to people that don't read your blog, but are prayer warriors as well.
    Lovingly,

  6. After a 3.5 year nightmare of an adoption, my friend Sarah had just, finally, received her son's passport. She was waiting on the visa, and then she could go bring him home.

Then … the earthquake … which demolished the adoption attorney's office … all paperwork is gone.

a tragedy beyond belief … for everyone in Haiti.

  7. Perhaps all that praying we've been doing for God to do something huge for the orphans in this world. . .maybe He is planning to do something insanely cool for them through this tragedy. Wouldn't that be just like our God? =)

  8. We as a family have been praying. Just saw today on Yahoo news about the adoptions possibly being put to a hault. I cant imagine! We will continue to pray.

  9. I have posted this to some facebook walls to get the prayer rolling!!! 2 FB friends have folks in their lives who are waiting for their families in Haiti as well. Praying for 2 little boys, Reece and Amos.

  10. I have been praying, & just prayed with my husband over the phone b/c he's away. We keep hearing the promise of Romans 8:28…that God works for the good in ALL things! Oh, please Lord, let it be that in the midst of all the devastation you are bringing families together that have been waiting too long.

  11. we know of many families who have legally adopted their children but have been waiting for the USA government to issue the travel visas to bring these Haitian children home. I am standing in agreement in prayer!

  12. Yes, yes, yes! And I am already thinking and praying about the hundreds more orphans that this devastation has certainly created. Wondering if God might let us adopt one??….

  13. I've heard updates from missionaries. It's so devastating…more than we can even imagine. No food, water…and people killing for these things to save their families. They said there are so many dead bodies everywhere and not enough help to bury them. CCAI is collecting funds for the orphanage where many of their families are adopting. Can you imagine what these poor little children are going through..what they are seeing? Heartbreaking. I'm praying for the adopting families to bring home their children soon and that major changes will take place in this adoption program. Thanks for posting this, Linny.

  14. Yes, I will pray, and I will spread the word asking others to pray. I know a family who is also waiting to rescue their newest family member from Haiti.

  16. Please keep us posted on what you are hearing. Seth and I are between domestic adoption or Haiti. This week may have resolved that question! Also, if you know of teams going in the upcoming months to help, please post it!

  17. I noticed today that the US is approving adoptions for Haitian orphans. Does anyone know if that is only for those previously approved to adopt? Our hearts are broken for these babies and have prayed that if one of them belongs in our family God will open the doors. May all of these babies find forever homes!
