(Elijah’s real birthday is January 25th, 2007, but our sweet baby boy was soooo yikky-iccky sick on his birthday – both Strep and Scarlett Fever -ugh! Since that just isn’t any fun -we postponed the entire thing and celebrated it yesterday.)

Our littlest guy, Elijah Mueller (after George Mueller – greatest man of faith who maybe ever lived – and spent his life ministering to the orphans of England), is such a treasure….I truly feel like I was given a “second chance”…..bringing him home when he was just ONE and I had just turned 50 (how stinkin’ cool is that?? I stand in awe of God’s deep love for me!!) For sure, Elijah has kept me hopping, which for some odd reason,
just makes me giggle (maybe having 10 kids makes a woman delirious or maybe it’s the hot flashes that have melted my brain)…BUT there is something about enjoying
all his little shinanigins at my age
(wait till you see what I caught him doing the other day –
I have already started the post for later this week)….
and my-oh-my, no doubt, he gives the very best kisses……Yesterday he had breakfast in bed (as always)

Peggy (the woman who desperately prayed for Elijah’s healing and for a family for him and I wrote about her here) sent this to her special little Elijah….For sure it feels like our home is birthday central with

(that makes 7 of our kids birthdays in just 10-1/2 weeks)

How crazy is that?

We finished the night with one of our favoritest family things to do:
Hide-N-Seek with almost all of the lights out!!
Such crazy fun and the kids giggle and laugh and
we get our heart rates up running for home base!! =)

    I'm just catching up on your posts. Oh, little Elijah is sooooo adorable!! Looks like he is sweet with a sprinkle (or two) of spunk 🙂

    what a wonderful family you all have.

    You'll have to post the recipe for your famous ice cream cake. I have seen it twice and it looks so good. I make one that uses ice cream sandwiches, caramel sauce, cool whip…oh and crushed oreos..layered with whatever flavor ice cream one likes. It's a bit messy, but so good.

    Oh, I tested our smoke alarms for you. I had my husband push the little button and they alarmed/beeped. But after reading your above post, I think I'll look into other types than just the battery kind. Makes me nervous..will they beep or not??? in the event of a fire.

    I also have been thinking of ordering one of those window ladder things for 2-story homes. I realize one would have to have it where it's easily accessible, so I don't know how realistic that would be. But with all 6 of us sleeping upstairs…I often think, What if????

    My dad lost his home when he was 10yrs.old and he remembers every single second of it. He was the one who woke up to a smoke-filled bedroom, ran outside yelling for help..and he helped his parents get his brother and sister out, from their upstairs window. He ran to town(up the street) in his underwear….to call for help. My grandma still cries when she talks about it…all that she lost.

    Over this past Thanksgiving, while visiting my parents, their cabin burned down. It wasn't a fancy cabin..but it was where we had been going since I was 10 yrs.old. Only about 3 miles from our house. I couldn't believe it. My husband and I were just finishing cleaning up the kitchen for my mom, my dad was reading our 3yr. old daughter her bedtime story, and the phone rang. It was a neighbor..I answered…all I remember was her saying "Your cabin is on fire, I'm calling 911." It was absolutely crazy…I think I screamed to my dad that our cabin was burning. I'll never forget the looks on their faces..so sad. Needless to say, I finished tucking the kids in…my parents raced out of the house for the cabin. My mom sobbing, my dad in shock…oh the look on his face..I could just cry typing this. It wasn't our home…but it was kind of like our little get-away. We went their daily. In fact, the night it burned, my dad and I had just returned 3 hours prior. Scary.

    From what we could find out, I guess the 2 gas tanks exploded and the cabin blew up. The neighbors said they heard a huge bang, then saw 2 fire-like rockets up in the sky(gas tanks). It smoldered for days after…..

    Fires…are a terrible terrible thing.

    My parents came back about 2 hours later and we just sat in the living room and cried.

    Thank God nobody was hurt…I can't even imagine that. But all of my dad's Army stuff was in the cabin..and just so much more. I know it's just "stuff", but still so sad to lose….

  111. I was JUST thinking as I was reading this…boy, they have quite a few birthdays all together…then I saw your list….funny…man, I am thinking one in January and one in February is alot…maybe just because we got off the holiday season…
    Your boy is too precious for words…I hope he had FABULOUS birthday….I jsut don't know that I could resist that little face…I don't even know him and I feel like scooping him up and loving on him…
