Twins – At Least They Think So….

So the other day we were walking in a store. A woman passer-by happened to notice the girls matching. She kind of jumped as she laughed and said, “Oh look! They match!”
With as straight as face as possible I said, “Of course they do! They’re twins!”
She paused for a moment, as if her mind was whirling in
confusion and then she burst out laughing.
Obviously realizing that I was just being smart..
Well they at least they think they are twins….

And on a separate note: The girls came downstairs in these same polka-dot dresses to wear to Liberty’s basketball game this morning. Except this is Colorado and it is COLD and it is definitely winter! With these polka-dot dresses, Elizabeth had stripped and flowered tights on and Jubilee had bright red tights on. Oh my. I mentioned that I would go upstairs and look for sweaters to wear with them and figured I would switch them both to white tights.
While I was getting out of the shower, they showed up again, this time Elizabeth had a brown sweat shirt on under this black polka-dot dress and Jubilee had a leopard print shirt on under hers. Niiiiice. Combined with the striped tights on Elizabeth and Jubilee’s bright red tights I truly laughed out loud. I told them that there was no way they were wearing that….or “you guys will look like a freak show.” Elizabeth said, “Mom what’s a freak show?” I said, “It would be like mommy putting on her clothes and then wearing a toilet on her head to the game.” She started to giggle. Yeah, that would be a freak show. She got it.

  1. Can they get any cuter/? I was at target today and I was in the little girls section just dreaming and looking at all the adorable little dresses that I cannot wait to buy our little girl once we bring her home from Uganda!

  2. Too Cute! You wonder what they are thinking when they come up with the outfits they do! Are they going for comfort or looks (looks as in we look good not freak show attention!)I love seeing the outfits little girls put together and their mother's do let them out of the house. I never let mine out of the house in their wacky outfits but admire those moms who do but not in Colorado in the snow!

  4. These pictures are too cute! Beautiful dresses for beautiful little girls. 🙂 My mother used to sew clothes for me and my sister and would often dress us alike for special occasions. Now, my sister is six years older than me, so imagine the enthusiasm of a ten year old having to wear the same dress as her four year (sometimes pesky) little sister. Ha! Nonexistent. The funny thing is we now look back on those pictures and think, "aww, how cute." LOL! There's nothing quite like the bond of sisterhood. 🙂

  5. I am a bit of a goofball but I LOOOVE matching outfits!! I got all 4 of my youngest matching jammies and each has their own color but the pattern is the same. they look so doggone cute! and Maia and Sophie have a couple matching outfits. I used to have people ask all the time if Maia and Ethan were twins and I always wanted to say YES!! and then let them figure it out but my husband wouldnt let me. she was 1 and he was 3 but she was big and he small and both little blondes. didnt matter that one was born of my body and one of my heart.

  6. oh i love their hearts and it's so great to see how quickly (or seemingly so) jubilee has adjusted and bonded with her new forever family.

haven't heard much about mark. how is he doing?

  7. At our house we foster and then we sometimes adopt and they stay forever. One day I was standing outside the bathroom at Walmert with a 10 mo old African American girl in her bucket in one cart and a very pale white 4 mo old baby girl in her bucket in another cart. A lady walked up and looked at both girls and as seriously as can be said, "Are they twins?"

Now I normally don't see color, especially when it comes to the babies at my house and I am quite used to whispers as we walk by, but this comment may have been as blind as any could be.

  8. Last summer we met the my son's best friend at the zoo. As they saw each other, they ran and wrapped their arms around each other and Micah, the best friend announced "My Twin!".

The lady standing behind us in line did a triple take as the "twins", one blond and blue eyed, the other asian with one arm missing, in their matching shirts and mowhawks, joyfully ran through the gate together.

    Twins are awesome!

  9. bwaaahhaaaa!!!! Lovin' the freak show! lol I bet those girls have you in stitches! So beautiful. 🙂 I used to let my kids wear what they wanted (up to a certain age) and people always would stare…. sometimes their shoes didn't even match! 🙂
