FINALLY!!

Finally! Finally! Finally!!
I had thought it would be too late for Dw to call, due to the time zone, etc., but sure enough my cell FINALLY rang just few minutes go…..We made several attempts to talk and each time I could not hear him. I was just happy to know that he was safe!!

Eventually after many efforts we were able to talk for a few minutes. It turns out that the Minister of the Police never showed up. INSTEAD all of the judges in training and the Head Judge {we’re talkin’ the very top, top, top guy!} in Haiti came in. It was even better according to Dw!!! He told them that he had been an attorney for 11 years and they loved him!! If I understood Dw right, these judges-in-training are just about to begin being the judges in Haiti….so the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. It was wonderful!!

Later, he ran into a group of young men who are in the same ‘field’ as our Ty. Dw could tell by their tab on their sleeve. Dw was thrilled beyond words. He talked to them for a long while and eventually told them what exactly Ty does in his ‘field.’ They were like, “WHOOOAAA – NO WAY!! He’s one of ‘those’?” Sad I have to be so non-descript, but this is a public blog…suffice it to say, Daddy loved hearing these guys reaction to Ty’s “job”.

Then, saving the best for last……He was so charged as he told me – he said that he met “the Gladys Aylward” of Haiti. He said she was unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. She loves Jesus with all her heart, has two orphanages she runs. She provides for babies through adulthood, eventually getting them to the university!! Dw spent alot of time with her.
No doubt, Dw deeply admired her. He told me the favor she has with the government and how she has the officials ears…..she can go anywhere in the government without obstacle!! {If you have not read the YWAM autobiography of Gladys Aylward -and George Muller too – it’s time to order it from YWAM!! They will change your life forever and you must read them aloud to your kids – their lives with also be changed – promise!!}

Anyway, during the time Dw spent with this “Haitian Gladys Aylward” he was asking her all kinds of questions. Then she asked him a question. He about fell over! He said his wife {that would be me!!} is going to be giddy when she finds out…. So what did she ask him?

**Sorry….can’t tell you yet.**

I know, I know, I’m so stinkin’ mean. Hey, look at it this way…… I had to wait almost 30 hours for a phone call…and you’re just gonna’ have to wait too. =)

In the meantime, order the books and get reading….

Life is short – God’s got a BIG plan and we got work to do!!

Let’s go!!

Obviously, it was a God appointment!!!

  4. Oh Linny, that is sooo not right. How long do we have to wait? You can't keep a secret for long . . .

So very happy that Dw was able to get through tonight, and that his time this morning was blessed with exactly those who God planned to be there! Along with the young men God also brought along–I am sure they were as blessed by Dw as he was by them!

I need to get the books. In the meantime, I'm waiting faithfully for you to tell the rest of the story!

    Get some rest!

    Love you~

    Tina

  5. Linny,
My girls love Gladys Aylward. I have read her life story to them and we have a cartoon movie about her life by The Torchlighters. They both have the movie memorized and take turns playing Gladys and other people in the movie. They want to be like her. I pray God will use them both in a mighty way.
Can't wait to hear more about Haiti. I'm praying for Dw.

  6. GREAT books! Yes … a must read for everyone.

    What did she ask???

"Would you and your dear wife please pray about bringing home these two little ones? They are so special, and they need just the right family in the U.S."

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  7. You totally crack me up. Yesterday, I about wet my pants laughing at the event at the swimming pool.
I'm so happy he is meeting so many wonderful people all in His name. So exciting!!
Ok…I think this is an easy game. The guestion was, "How many children do you want?" teehee Am I right…am I right??!!

  8. I'm betting she asked DW if you would consider adopting a Hatian child. I'm betting you might just be a momma again soon. Just my guess. 😉

    Can't wait to hear more.

  9. Linn,

I was actually going to send you a note the other day but forgot…your post has reminded me. I wanted you to know that not a day goes by that I don't think of Ty and his unit overseas. My husband cleared the unit on the east coast 3 weeks ago after 7 years serving with them. Our service in the great regiment was a calling from the Lord and our next venture is as well. We knew the Lord was telling us it was time to leave. Although we still live in the same town and will for the next 6 months or so, it's bitter sweet to be separated from such an astounding group of soldiers. We always remember the other two units while they rotate to their deployments. Praying for Sarah, too, as I know too well what she is enduring all by her lonesome. Although I do not know what it is like to have a son fighting in this unit, I know that the challenges you face are just as difficult and require great faith and trust in our Lord. Anyhow, just wanted to pass along my love and support to you. Counting down the days with you…

    Emily

  10. Love, love, love George Muller–I know that I have mentioned that many a time on your blog comments 🙂

And I will do my best to wait patiently to hear/read the good news. I sure hope and pray it involves a precious little soul, or two.

    Love from Uganda,

  11. Ok so I saw the George Mueller book and had to write. When my kiddos are doing their independant work at their desks, I'll pick up a book from their "library" and read while I wait.

I grabbed the GM book. As a note, my husband and I feel the calling to help orphans, having a newbie use-to-be orphan in our household!

We have been praying for months, even before going to pick up our son last year about what God is calling our family to do. We live next door to my parents and 3 houses down from my gram.

We have been praying about what to do with the houses, particuarly ours, since it is too small to take any more kids (3 is not enough!). We've looked at new houses to fit us all in, looked at trading houses with my parents but nothing seemed to give us peace not make sense with finances.

So back to the GM book. In the middle of the book, I had to stop and do mommy work. The I felt the need to "pray". SO I went in a quiet place and prayed. I prayed about our situation with the houses once again. The Spirit spoke and said "efficient" as referring to house the houses MUST work.

I pondered it for a bit. Then after I had the free time later, I picked the book back up. ONly reading for a few minutes, I found in the book where George said the orphanages must be "efficient"!! There was my confirmation! So we started to pray specifically for efficiency.

That brings us to 3 weeks ago. MY mom, dad, husband and I had a discussion. We did some figuring and found out that we could change a few things in my parents basement and we could move in with them, all with more room for more children (adoption or fostering).

The only hiccup, my 80 yr old gram, we'd have to sell her house and move her into ours to be mortgage free. SO we prayed about this and I asked that God would tell my gram.

A week later, my gram started the conversation of how many more kids we wanted. My mom said, "We need to sell your house." She said, "You know, I was just thinking that!" Sweet, God told her for us and she is already packing!!

I am so thankful to GOd that He uses all sorts of things to let us know His will! That all of our steps in this big change is happening very smoothly and all of us are excited to see what God does thru all of this.

So I encourage everyone to read that book, it'll put your heart on fire for the orphans:)

  12. Exciting news…and I can't wait to read the rest of the story. Thanks for the encouragement to read those books. My daughters are absolutely "in love" with Gladys and have read that book 2 times each. She is a great role model. I'll have to go get the one about George now for my boys.

  13. It is sooo exciting how the Lord is orchestrating your husbands contacts and interactions for the best good! Thanks for keeping us My heart and my family's heart is in Haiti, particularly with the orphans, even though we are unable to be there in person. Thanks for keeping us updated. And we totally love the Gladys Aylward story! Such an incredible example of following God's lead in her life.

  14. Oh Linny, you are such a stinker! But I read a lot of mystery novels (those set in England are my favorite) and I have become quite good at deductive reasoning. I can't wait to see if I am right. I think I hear the pitter-patter of a few more feet. 🙂

    Love your heart!!!

  15. Hmmm….Are you getting adoption paperwork started???? I bet you're getting another treasure!!!

So happy to hear DW is is doing great!

Can't wait to hear the news (officially)

    Many blessings,
    Amy <><

  16. Linny! What a terrible thing to do!! SHAME ON YOU! I do love a little suspense though! 😉

Checking back later in the weekend. Hope it is a good one.

So grateful that Dw got there safely!

  17. Of course my mind is racing trying to figured it out…

She is going to partner with you and you will start having mission trips to Haiti.

She has children that need a home and you will once again pull far ahead of me in # of children. (we would love to open our home to children from Haiti that need a family!)

Your church will partner with her and have an ongoing relationship/ ministry.

Those are my best guesses!! Prayin they all come true! Can't wait to hear what else you have to say!

  18. Can't wait to hear! And yes, we have read both of those biographies as a family. Their stories are incredible, such an inspiration.

And Linny, guess what?! Our youth pastor has asked us to share about our Memorial Box at the next parent meeting this Sunday! He read our blog and thought the MB was a great idea. I am excited beyond words and am praying that God uses us to encourage others to start their own family MB. It was your encouragement that put the fire under us 6 months ago to finally get our MB going after years of "thinking" about it. Your encouragement is having far reaching effects. Yippee Jesus!

  19. Hi Linny,
Great to hear about Dwight and Haiti. (Just as great to read about the fun on your home-front.)
Our kiddos are really wrapped up in praying for Haiti and they have been praying especially for "Liberty and Isaiah's dad."
Hope we can travel over to Durango when Dwight returns and hear about missions, Haiti and orphans.
Yep, we're still waiting to leave for Kenya…
My new phrase is "occupy till we leave."
    Blessings,
    Lisa

  20. "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" (a 1950's movie about Gladys starring Ingrid Bergman) was my favorite movie as a child. I know it's a Hollywood version of the story, but the faces of those little orphans tugged at my heart even all those years ago. Her story has always been so inspiring to me. Love that book as well.

Can't wait to hear your news! Praying for

  21. Oh Linny,

So excited you got to talk to DW but (and that's a big BUT – with whining inserted) how could you leave us in limbo!

    Take Care, Lisa K.

  22. I can hear the excitement in your "voice" and I am excited for you. Can't wait to hear what the Haitian Gladys Aylward asked Dw! I love the suspense! I am so glad that his trip is going so well. And reading the biographys of Gladys Aylward and George Muller has been on my list of reading for months now. You are right – time to get to it! 🙂 Thanks for the push!

    Charissa

  23. I am going to go with Jeans guess. I think I have my dh talked into adopting again. Our adopted children are amputees, so we have wheelchairs and prosthetics and ramps everywhere and a wheelchair van. So we are thinking that God is probably calling us to go to Haiti when things settle down again and adopt a child who is an amputee.
    Lorraine

  24. I'm so thankful you mentioned these books. I've been trying to find a book on George Mueller. So will it be one or two??

Check out my blog post for today!!! hugs and love

    btw – sent you a e-mail.

  25. Y'all are so awesome, just keeping us on our toes to see how God unfolds the adventures He takes you on serving in His name. Can't wait to see where the new path He is leading you on will end up!!
    ~Kelly

  26. Ok Linn……
My guess is you and DW have been ask to move to Haiti to help run and oversee one of the orphanages!!!??? YES?????

We have friends that live in Port de Paix, Haiti…and there is an orphanage right across the street from them. I have been there 3 times…..I LOVE THE PEOPLE OF HAITI!!!

Can't wait to hear your news!!!

  27. When do the missions trip start? Need to start praying the fund in! 🙂 And I failed to mention how much I loved that 1950's movie, and in retrospect, how I think it colored my whole attitude toward adoption, and Chinese adoption in particular!

    Hugs…Nancy

  28. Linny, you are SO not funny! Just a random guess…but it involves missions/foster care/orphanage/children. Just a guess though 🙂
    Love~
    Connie

  29. Well I think she is going to partner with you and your dear hubby and because of that children from her orphanage will be able to find homes here in the US–or at least I hope that is it so that all the red tape can be cut away and more children can come home sooner!!!

  30. You're moving to Haiti to run an orphanage? 🙂

Love those books, BTW. 🙂 And Ty…I pray for him to stay safe. We are in SC–Ryan graduated from Basic today.

  31. Its got to be that you start an Adoption Agency affilitated with your church that works with the two orphanages she has, to place the children. Not a bad idea – I know you have the desire to help the orphan in this way. Good Luck on your endeavors – hope that I am right.
