The Getaway

Our sweet friends, Steve and Sara worked behind the scenes and surprised us the other day with a getaway. Dw & I had not been away alone for just about 2 years. We had no idea how much we needed it!! There have been so many changes these last two years and we have been plumb wore out.

Although we go on a date every week, there is something oh-so-sweet about sneaking away and just being together. Yesterday we left for a little town at the base of a mountain pass…..ahhhh, it was soooooo gorgeous! We browsed the shops {found another Memorial Box for an upcoming giveaway}, ate some lunch, sipped some coffee at a cozy little shop and ended up at this little log cabin….with a fireplace. Oh how I love log cabins!!

We had dinner at a lodgey steak house, went in the hot springs and played rummy in front of the fire. We had no idea how much we needed the time away, to reconnect and to relax together. So very wonderful.

While we were gone, Sara came and stayed with the kids. Not only did she and Steve get the night and dinner for us, she watched the kids. Only true friends would be brave enough to come stay with seven kids and Uncle Mark – we cannot thank her enough. Sara also knows how to do corn rows and did Liberty’s hair. Rumor has it that Liberty fell asleep while she was doing it!! Doesn’t she look so sweet??

  1. Linny,
Yay! I am so glad that you and DW got to have some time together!!That is just wonderful. I wanted to share that I loved the homeschooling post. I am so excited to get a real life version of what goes on. I have been talking to my hubby, since before our son was born, about homeschooling. He was not too keen on it, but now feels better after reading your post! Thank you! I also wanted to tell you about my hubby's blog. He came up with it all on his own! (not that he couldn't, ha! I am just so excited for him!) It is http://www.quicktaxtips.blogspot.com He is a CPA and is going to be giving little tax tidbits so that people are informed. I think it is such a great idea, because I know that I used to be clueless when it came to taxes! The posts really do open your eyes a bit! He just did a post about Charitable contributions to Haiti. Seeing as DW is going to Haiti soon..I thought that this might be informative. 🙂 Praying for you all and the trip to Haiti!! Thank you so much for posting with such honesty. Love, Leigha

  2. Amen! What a sweet, sweet blessing for you guys. It thrills my soul to see others investing in your marriage. I can't imagine how much this tickles the Lord.

I'm so glad you had a relaxing and refreshing time away. Love the cabin and fireplace. Would love it if our mansions in Heaven were little cabins!

  3. Hey Linny, I'm so glad you and Dw were able to getaway to relax and rejuvenate. Husband & wife time is special and important. You have great friends!

Please tell Liberty she's looks beautiful! Her hair is very becoming and she reminds me a lot of my niece when her hair is corn rowed, too. It's a great hairstyle for cold/dry winters and hot/humid summers! 🙂

  4. Oh SOOOOOO sweet!!!! Oh and I am SO ready to start a Memorial Box!!!! The ideas have been flooding in about what I would put in one. How long have I been reading about this now and continuously thought … "I wouldn't know what to put in one …" They have all been right there before my eyes … I have just been blinded!

Thank you for being an amazing woman of God who is open with her faith, family and struggles. You bless me all the way to my toes Linny!

Tons of love flowing your way, Lisa C.
