The Phone Woke Us….Will U Pray with Us?

“Once our eyes are opened, we can’t pretend we don’t know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act.”
Proverbs 24:12

We were woke up in the wee hours this morning to a phone calling asking us to please pray and so I’m asking you to join in as well.

Luke is a miracle a million times over. He has such a severe congenital heart defect along with dextrocardia, there is no way he should be alive – BUT God! Luke desperately needs surgery and, literally, just got on a plane for Isreal. There is a team of doctors there who are assembling to doing the surgery.

Let me assure you friends….just in case anyone ever questions if God really,
truly cares for the orphan….
Listen to this…..the surgery Luke needed had to be performed somewhere where such an intricate surgery could even be done. Luke got into the program in Isreal.
Then Luke needed the papers from his orphanage. Since Luke is from a government orphanage, the orphanage had to issue special papers. These are not given easily usually, if at all.
Yet, in Luke’s case the orphanage did the papers overnight. HUH? Only a miracle-working, mountain-moving, awe-inspiring, gasp-giving God could do such a thing!
Then they needed a passport. Without a problem it was given. Then the VISA was needed for this little orphan guy to get out of the country, during Chinese New Year! Not a problem either.

Really friends, each step of the way Almighty God has shown His involvement, His care and His love for precious little Luke.

Many, many, many people want to do something for the orphan. Many have spouses who are unwilling (at the moment) to adopt. Many are in circumstances that adoption is truly not possible. But ALL of us can pray for the orphans. All of us can ask others to pray. All of us can gather people to pray: spouses, kids, Sunday School classes, Bibles studies….. All of us can intercede on little Luke’s behalf.

Flights, altitudes, little hearts that are very sick….all of it so taxing on his little body. Would you please pray with us for little Luke as he flies to Isreal today? Would you please pray for the hands of the surgical team as it gathers in Isreal? I can hardly type without bawling. Oh how God loves the orphan.

  1. Here I sit crying too. There is never a doubt to me that there is a God. A being that can stir such emotions of love in someone for someone that they dont even know. Only He can do that. I will be praying as I have all along for this little guy(who is so darn cute I just want to gobble him up). I am thrilled to know that he is on his plane and headed for healing. Our God, He is so much bigger than our small minds can imagine. Feeling so thankful today. I WILL PRAY! Thank you for posting. : )

  2. Oh, Linny, we are praying now as a family for little Luke! We have had such a burden for his life since finding out about the Morning Star ministry through your bloggy shower. We have a son named Luke in heaven, so perhaps that is why this child seems dear to us and remains on our prayer list.

God has already done the impossible in this child's life and we know He will continue to move mountains for sweet Luke. We will also cover Lynsay and Bill as they certainly ache to be with him during his travel and surgery. May they feel overwhelming peace that God is watching over him.

    Much Love,
    Kathie

P.S. So glad you had a sweet get-away with Dw!!!

  3. I will pray for him, his family and all the medical staff involved. This post so reminded me of a devotional I wrote just yesterday about all of our lives having a predestined purpose. It made me wonder what great purpose God has in store for Luke. Our God is awesome.

  4. After loving on that boy for a week, my heart is anxious, excited and heavy all at the same time for this precious Child of God as he flies to Israel to have the first of many life saving surgeries!!!! Oh my, I know where my prayers will be going today!

  5. Thank you Linny for letting us know about Luke!! Thank you for the asking us to pray for this precious child of God! Thank you Jesus for the privilege to pray for the children.

Praying for him constantly! My heart takes a leap everytime I see him!

  6. thank you for consistently telling the stories of orphans. i am eternally grateful for being adopted by my heavenly father. you are such a treasure, and of course i will pray!

  7. We all have prayed for "our" little Luke for weeks on end, my kids carry his picture around like hs is "ours"! We have him added to all the prayer chains in our Church and friends…we will continue to do so for a long time. I woke up this morning not knowing that he was going to leave today but something told me to say an extra prayer for him today..Im glad I did. Please keep us updated. We cry for him, pray for him and dream for him. May God be with him, the doctors, the airlines and may all be blessed who comes in contact with Little Luke.

  8. I've been praying for Luke too! I just know God's hand is in all of this. It is so exciting!! (Did you know that our Cassandra is working with B and L right now?)

  9. Can I just say Yippee Jesus! Luke is on his way to the surgery that only OUR GOD could orchestrate! I cannot wait to hear all the amazing stories & lives that will be touched by Lukes tiny (physical, not spiritual) testimony. Praying for the flight, the surgery, everything!

  10. Love and prayers for sweet Luke and for the Mama and Baba who don't even know and may not ever know all that God did for their little boy before his parents even knew he was born. From a Mama whose boy flew to the US nearly dead with his ayi at his side, after those special impossible permissions were issued (for the SECOND time!). God loves every one of His children. Grace, mercy, and peace to Bill and Lynsay and their hearts in this journey, too.

  11. Absolutely!!!! We are praying here for sweetie Luke and will continue. I can't wait to see the amazing things God has for him. I'm looking forward to the post that says he's home and is a completely new little boy!

  12. Sweet Luke! He has overcome so much already. You can include me as we pray for his protection and healing. I love seeing the hand of God in his story! He is clearly a treasure to our Almighty God!

  13. Praying now…and have been and fasted for him and now for the trip and the Israeli doctors.
I love Israel with all my heart because they always reach out to those in need….
We are not in a position to adopt, but the Lord lays them on my heart and I am privileged to lift them up to the Throne of Grace.
    Lovingly,
    Sandy in NC

  14. Linny, I have been following them and praying for Luke for awhile. Thank you for posting this! You are so right about precious ones with hearts that need help. We literally had to risk Georgia's life in order for the surgeons in teh US to attempt to save it (and they did, praise God!!!!!!) Praying for Luke and all the details of the surgery. Can I add that for kiddos with complicated heart surgery that the recovery is ussually as risky as the surgery itself so prayers for the recovery too!!!!

  15. Luke..weighs on my heart just like Isaiah did when we were praying him home. I will pray Linn, I will pray that God just guide each precious step… each continued moment of his life as he leads him into the arms of his forever family. Never leaving him or forsaking him. Thanks for keeping us posted. What a cute picture of him. He's a button! 🙂 lv, jen
