Middle of the Night Texts

I just had to do a little update, since so many of you are praying. The Uganda Go Team 2010 has been traveling for a little over 48 hours and they have finally arrived in Uganda!!  I am soooo jealous that I can’t be there too. It’s all good, but I LOVE Africa. It is said that Africa “gets under your skin” – and whoever said that – wasn’t lying!!

Anyway, somewhere in the middle of the night I received a text that the team had left Dubai and landed in Ethiopia. A second later this text came in:

“Dw met the minister of state of Uganda and talked to him about adoption!
1st God appointment!!”

So somewhere between Dubai and Ethiopia Dw met the minister of the state of Uganda and talked to him about adoption! Unbelievable!! We have been praying for an opportunity for Dw to meet the right people in high places. God gave me a promise many years ago {back in 1992} that would correlate exactly with all this. It was a crazy promise at the time and I had no clue exactly what it meant….but knew the voice of God and I knew that it was a powerful promise. The kind of promise that when you look at circumstances you would say, “Uh-huh, ain’t no way!!” But when we worship and serve a Miracle-working, Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring, Gasp-giving God, it was no surprise that I gasped as I sleepily read that text!! And boy oh boy was I wide awake then!!

Immediately I remembered that promise – and someday I will share about it….but I am 100% confident that this is the beginning of the fulfillment of that promise. I cry as I think about all that God is doing and has already done. Yippee Jesus!!

Our hearts have been burdened with what we have been hearing and what was and is going on with immigration and the US and Canadian Embassy regarding adoption out of Uganda….and friends, please, please, please pray that God would continue to open doors….

Anyway, on the home front, life has presented some new challenges. Yesterday I got a phone call from the doctor’s office saying they wanted me to come in to discuss the results of the tests I’d had the day before the team left. I was dumbfounded. I said, “If there was nothing wrong, she would just tell me that over the phone, yes?” Yes. Hmmmm. I’ve never had that happen before, where a doctor wants us to come in to discuss the results. Not ever. This did not sound like a picnic and the thought made me want to throw up. My prayer partner came and watched the kids and I went. Another sweet friend met me there, too, so I didn’t have to be alone since Dw was somewhere on the other side of the world.

Dw called shortly after the doctor’s office called, as they had just landed in Dubai, so he was able to pray with me on the phone. Anyway, I went in and spent a long while as she explained stuff. I will be heading in for more tests in the next few days. I will also be transferred to a specialist. Maybe Denver? Maybe Phoenix? We’ll see.

So all that to say, your prayers are deeply appreciated. Please pray for the team in Africa….for those God-appointments, for their safety, for health, for people to hear and respond to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Please also pray for those left behind on the homefront.

Love to each of you – my sweet bloggy friends!! xo

There is no doubt this is spiritual warfare..with the fact that you husband and kids are in Africa serving and God has such big plans in using DW in helping with the adoption laws…so I will pray! Hang in there, that great big faithful God is with you and I know you know that better than anyone, but sometimes it feels good to hear it.

  8. Linny,
Keeping you in my thoughts and all of you in my prayers. That is amazing about Dw's first God appointment and I can't wait to hear about the promise he made to you almost 20 years ago! I am so terrible sorry to hear that you are having health concerns. Sending up special prayers for your health, for Dw's health (I saw your twitter post), for the health and safety of all of the team in Uganda, for God to use them as His tools to accomplish His goals, for the health of all of your children on the homefront as well as Abi and Tyler. Please do keep us posted. Hugs, Charissa

  11. Oh Linny, we will certainly continue to pray for the team in Uganda and your family team at home.

I think it's amazing that God is fulfilling a promise spoken years ago while at the same time you are dealing with scary calls from the doctor and more testing.

The doctor would say you were healed . . . "BUT." The enemy would say that God's healing is temporary, that His miracles cannot withstand time. Yet He is reminding you this week that a promise made almost 20 years ago has not been forgotten and HE IS STILL ON THE THRONE. How's that for withstanding time?!

As you endure more tests and wait for results, remember that He is faithful. He is Sovereign. And He is greater than man's "ifs, ands, or buts."

I just know God is doing mighty things with the team in Uganda. I pray that your family separated on two continents would feel unified with peace, strength, wisdom, and discernment in the days ahead. I will also specifically pray for good health and a hedge of protection as you all are battling on the front lines for the Lord.

    Much Love,
    Kathie

1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Hope all things will turn out ok 🙂
