Ministry in Africa – update on Dw

**All of the pictures below were taken on earlier trips…all were taken inside or outside the church in Ssenge village where they are ministering at this moment**
I know so many of you have been praying for Dw….thank you, thank you, thank you! Really, I think none of us truly understand just what happens in the heavenlies when the body of Christ gathers for one common purpose or need!! Thank you for standing in the gap for my hubby. He is still battling it, although feeling a bit better….he is eating specks here and there….He went and did the first day of the Pastor’s Conference. I have not talked to him to see how day two went…they are 9 hours ahead of my mountain time zone.

He said that the first day was amazing! There were about 150 pastors and many had walked for hours and hours. You have to understand friends…there is no Christian radio in these rural areas, there is no church on tv, there are no Christian bookstores out in the villages, no internet, there are few opportunities for a pastor to be encouraged or even have any training.

The other thing is that many who go on missions trips never come back again. They try a different country or whatever. So for Dw to be back for his third year in a row, in this small village of Africa, is unheard of. He has earned their love and respect. I am not tooting Dw’s horn, just helping all understand how grateful the pastors are. They love, love, love him. Dw is also a very personable, tender-hearted, compassionate and very funny guy. He has them laughing and laughing at the stuff he says….and then he “gets them” with the word of God – sharp and powerful!

One of the higher-ups in the church there said to Dw, “You have no idea how far reaching your teachings are.” Dw said, “What do you mean?” He said, “There are probably at least 500 churches {five hundred!! – WOW!!} now teaching what you have taught us.” They take the materials he brings with him {Dw wrote them, has them professionally printed and bound in booklet form} and then they gather pastors in their areas and teach them and let them use the booklets, etc. As Dw told me that he was crying….he said, “Oh Linny, I am so humbled.”

While teaching the first day he had to keep excusing himself to go use the restroom. Of course when I say that you have to understand….there is no real restroom. Bill is with him and so he asked Bill to share for about 20 minutes while he was gone. Then another time he asked singers to come and lead the people in some worship and so on. Let’s just say, if the enemy of our souls wanted Dw to give up – fat chance!! He will teach from God’s word and continue to see pastor’s lives surrendered to a life of purity, fidelity, grace and love…no.matter.what.

How about this for amazing?? Yesterday {Monday} I woke with a start. I looked at my cell and it was 6am. I thought, “hmmm, in Uganda it’s 3pm…I wonder if he is still teaching the pastor’s conference.” I started to pray for strength for him, supernatural strength for him.

Then later in the day yesterday when I was talking to him, Dw said, “Hey, were you praying for me at 6am cause I was teaching the pastors and feeling so tired and weak and immediately I had unbelievable strength….so I looked at the time…I thought….Linny must be awake praying for me.” How’s that for a gasp-giving God?? Oh Yippee Jesus!!

See how God answers our prayers! How difficult it is for us to comprehend that on one side of the world some are praying and He is specifically answering their prayers on the opposite side of the world?? ONLY.GOD. Your prayers are not in vain! Keep praying! You are as much part of the victory as those on the battle lines….

The VBS went wonderful the first day. Emma said there were 203 kids. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. Please pray for little hearts to understand the life-changing message of Jesus Christ!! The team is working hard….some doing the VBS, some working on the boys home, and some helping with the pastor’s conference…Dw said they are united and serving well together….

Dw told me last night that he would probably ask them to take him to the doctor again. His body just will not stop pouring out from that lower end. I saw him on skype and he definitely has lost a ton of weight!!

Anyway, it is dreary and so yukky looking out my kitchen window as I type this. Today I have testing at the hospital. I am dreading it. I think we are going to stay in our jammies and just snuggle and read books together until time for me to go for the testing……

  1. Gosh, that just gives me goosebumps! It's happened to me before, and He never ceases to amaze me of how He has someone up to pray for another :)) Mine happened the night I eventually turned on the Cosby Show (you've gotta go quote in my memorial box) and come to find out my friend was up that night, didn't know why but she saw my post and then prayed for me. love it!
Praying for you, Linny. I pray that GOD gives you a peace about the whole situation and that He would heal you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. Cuz we know, "there's no GOD like Jehovah":))
It's dreary here in North Carolina too. Lots and lots of rain happening this week so far. Have fun snuggling and reading!

  2. Hi Linny, Seems like a bit since I wrote a comment, although I read your posts, but thought I'd touch base. Loved seeing the photos and getting the update. It's dreary here and rain is forecast for Greeley and the area-yuck-I'm so ready for the sunshine to stay.
You mentioned tests today-how can I be praying for you in regards to this? Is it for your MS or something else? Let me know as I would count it a privilege to uphold you.
    Hugs, Noreen

  4. Wow, you've got a lot on your hands right now. I'll be praying for Dw and the mission team – as well as your tests and the kids still at home. I pray that the Lord sends something encouraging to you today!

  5. Linny,
Thank you to your family for working so hard for the Lord. Your Christ lead works are putting the devil into overdrive on both sides of the world. We will keep praying for your health along with your husbands' and the team as they minister to others.
God is bigger than all of this now isn't He.

  8. Praying for your sweet husband! I have so so so so much respect for him! I was just chatting with Junior from Uganda on FB and he told me…

"I am asking you to pray for Dad dwight the devil is giving him a hard time in uganda and trying to fight what he is doing. he gets sick and he has not been alright"

….I know that those guys also have SO much love for their "Dad Dwight". I love it!

I am praying for both you and him!!

Go Team 2009…wishing I was there again this year!!

  9. that's wonderful news about Dwight being strengthened the same time you prayed for him… thank you for sharing this, I struggle with praying sometimes.

Am praying that He will give you and Dwight His presence (like the pure white peace) so that you may be comforted that He is with you, and for full healing in both your bodies.

Sar Shalom… that is His name, Prince of Peace 🙂
