That Old Car and Some Crazy Lovin’!!

Remember that old car I told you about this past Memorial Box Monday?? Imagine my excitement when I found that picture in Dw’s office on his shelf. The fire caused smoke and heat damage to our photo albums and we completely lost others. But there it was sitting all sweet-like on Dw’s shelf at his office. I had help scanning it and for some reason I couldn’t get it quite right – but my gracious – you get to see it – no matter what!! Isn’t it a beautiful car and make for a fun picture? How good of the Lord to have such a wonderful surprise in store for me. {If you are wondering what I am talkin’ about, go back three posts…it’s a short story about the faithfulness of God and His Crazy Love for us!!}

And talking about God’s Crazy Love… I am thrilled with all the people posting fundraisers for treasures they are trying to bring home. I was thinking about it all and had an idea…..can you imagine if people started just buying all their gifts for weddings, showers, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Easter, Anniversaries and birthdays from people trying to bring kids home? Can you imagine that? It would be amazing!!
The other day I read a tweet from Rick Warren {pastor of Saddleback} and he was quoting his wife Kay. She had tweeted, “Don’t tell me you’re a Christian if you aren’t doing anything about James 1:27.” Strong words. Something to ponder. And the funny thing is that Rick and Kay Warren have not adopted. BUT they have sacrificially thrown their hearts into the AIDS orphans of Africa. So, no, adoption is not the only way, but we all MUST do something for the orphan. Something. Regularly. Something. And one of the greatest things we can do is buy stuff from an adoption fundraiser or just donate to a forever family trying to bring their cherub home. And THAT, my friends, would be called Crazy Love for sure!!
And so then I was thinking….Can you imagine if people started just buying all their gifts from people trying to bring treasures home forever? Can you imagine? Beaded treats, bracelets, coffee cup holders, necklaces, tee-shirts, home-spun pictures, and more totally supporting the orphan? Can you imagine? Can you imagine what that would be like for the person receiving? Maybe more hearts would be stirred for the orphan. I mean seriously – with lots of prayer I just believe that our Miracle-working, Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring, Gasp-giving God could do that….He could take a fundraiser gift and use it to stir the hearts of a loved one or special friend. Really, how Crazy that would be!!??!!
So please check out the links….and then do something CRAZY!! Promise – you’ll be blessed beyond what you could imagine!! xo

  6. Love that picture and the sweet story it tells!

    I wanted to give a little update on the Crazy Love prayer post…I posted about being a new graduate nurse and having a difficult time finding a position as everyone wants to hire people with experience. {There is no such thing as a nursing shortage when you are talking about those of us who have just graduated.}

    Well, God provided. Not only did He provide, but He far exceeded my expectations and gave me the PERFECT job!! You see, I'd decided that I would take ANY job that came my way just to get some experience so I could apply for jobs I really wanted, but God had other plans. He blessed my socks off and gave me a job in the PEDIATRIC ICU….even better, a DAY shift position {which is pretty much unheard of for new nurses}! Just wanted to share with you my answered prayer.

    Through all of this, He showed me {yet again} that He is faithful and knows and cares about even the little details!

  8. I wonder if you would do a link/blog entry to help a grown orphan struggling to stay in school. e s of he was raised in an orphanage, came to love the Lord on her own, and came to school in the US.
    Here is more of the story, You get so many more visitors, I was hoping you could raise her banner high.
