32 Years Ago Today & A Middle of the Night Call

Now, there are THREE reasons I am doing a happy dance today….

Thirty-two years ago today I married my best friend…so Whitey…thank you for loving me through tough and rough times…you are my faithful friend…and I cannot thank the Lord enough…how gracious of Him to bring you to me!! I love you Whitey with all my heart!

And we received the very best news we could ever receive – in the middle of the night today….

Sound asleep and finally we heard the phone ringing….as Abigail would tell it, they kept calling and calling…figuring sooner or later we would awaken…..cause they just had to tell us {and it was officially our 32nd anniversary to boot!}…..

Abigail and Ryan have been matched with a precious baby boy who is waiting in Uganda for his mommy and daddy to come get him!!!! Here is Abi & Ryan’s blog about their new baby…

and with that announcement – we are now officially

GRANDPARENTS!!!

**giggles and more giggles**

Yipppeee Jesus!!

And that would make our family officially a multi-generational adoptive family! There is no greater joy for us!!

How’s that for an anniversary present??? *giggles and more giggles*

Abigail and Ryan told us we needed to pick out names that we wanted our grandbaby to call us…

I have chosen MiMi {it just sounds so snuggly and endearing to me!}…

Dw has chosen JaJa {Lugandan for Grandpa}

And lastly, I am doing a sweet ol’ happy dance this morning….it’s our anniversary, we are now officially MiMi and JaJa and now look at all of you who have posted – please check out yesterday’s post….now friends…start reading and sharing some Crazy Love!! There is not much in life truly worth investing our money in….but the lives of orphans? WOW! God’s greatest treasures! Bring them home sweet Jesus – bring them home!!

  1. Congrats! Our first grandchild, a boy, was born in July! Grandchildren are very sweet! And we have a four year old from China that we just adopted in May. Nothing like raising children along with your children!

  7. Congratulations MiMi and JaJa! We have 3 grandchildren and 1 on the way. The son and daughter-in-law who have 1 on the way (their third) hope the next baby will be adopted. Such an exciting event to have a second generation adoption and grandparents.
What a happy anniversary. We will be celebrating our 34th anniversary on the 21st. I'm hoping this anniversary will bring something special for us (like starting another adoption).
Have a blessed rest of your anniversary.
    Christy

  8. Yay! SO SO SO happy for Abi and Ryan! Can't wait to hear the name they have picked out for him.

And my sister had a baby in March, my mom is Mimi, too. 🙂

  9. Congratulations on 32 years! Neither one of you looks old enough to be married that long! Congratulations to Abi and Ryan, that is sooo wonderful. How long until that sweet baby gets to come home?
I giggled at your having to pick out names to be called. Just yesterday, I was thinking the same thing for my husband and I and decided we should go with the German theme-Omi and Opa. My brother-in-law is German and my daughter has been there all summer nannying for their 3 year old. I don't know why I thought of that yesterday, neither of my kids is anywhere CLOSE to getting married and having kids! Ha!

  10. congratulations on becoming a MiMi! 🙂 It must be a neat feeling to know that your own children shares the same passion and concern for the orphans. 🙂

  11. Dear Sweet Bloggy Friend, Happy Anniversary! Welcome to the sweet, sweet world of being a Grand Parent! I have three treasures! How awesome that you are doing a crazy love part on adoption. 43 years ago I came home to my family on Oct. 1st. Enjoy your special day! Love, Janet

  12. I read your blog faithfully, but don't always comment. I've also been out of town for a while. There are several posts I wanted to comment on….praying for you in these current trying circumstances, rejoicing with you on birthdays, anniversaries and becoming grandparents, reveling in His faithfulness through Memorial Box Mondays, aching with you for the orphans, and joyfully smiling at the everyday touches of His love. Linny, I am blessed by your candidness and to be able to call you a bloggy friend!

Praying over you and your family now,
    Jocelyn

  13. Congrats Mimi! What a blessing you have passed on to your children. God Bless. I would love to help some friends raise money for their Peruvian Adoption. Any ideas???

  14. Happy Anniversary,
    Happy Anniversary,
    Happy Anniversary,
Happy Anniversary To You & You!

My My, indeed you did need to answer the phone. Sitting here trying to catch up on the daily news, eating a sandwich and now Snoopy dancing around the room is the order for the day!!! Talk about exciting news off the chart… wowee… nothing makes me start tingling more than the news of a precious babe on the way home!!
    God is soooooo Great!!
Happy Days with loads of Hugs,

  15. Hurray! Hurray! Congratulations! So excited for your whole family!
I'm going to go check out their blog! MiMi and Ja Ja – so great! My parents are Nonni and Paika – it took almost 9 months for them to decide though…

  16. Happy Anniversary and congratulations on the news of becoming grand parents. On our 30th anniversary (2007) our son and daughter-in-law gave us a card in front of our friends that were celebrating with us. Erin made a cute card for our anniversary that told us about their new addition coming the following year. How fun! We love being grandparents to Melody and soon she's going to have a sibling….Jan 2011. I'm excited for you! Hugs!

  17. Congratulations Linny dear!!!
What a wonderful anniversary gift for you and your beloved Whitey.
We are rejoicing with you and can hardly wait to see your grandson's pictures.
    Blessings to you all!
    Alycia

  18. Welcome to the wonderful world of grandparenting!! I think you both know that I think being a grandmother is one of the most amazing privileges/joys EVER!! I am ridiculously thrilled for both of you…..I'll be praying for your precious grandson to come home SOOOOOOOON!!!!

    Love you guys!!

  19. YES!! Congratulations on your anniversary and the big announcement! You must be thrilled:) We are in the process of adopting from Uganda as well…waiting to file for a court date. Tell Abi there is a huge facebook group with a ton of info.

Rejoicing with you!! Praise God for His abundant blessings!

  20. Happy Anniversary!!! And Congrats! Mimi and JaJa!

My kids call my mom Mimi and my dad Bubba (that's a long story,he has always gone by Buddy and that is what the 1st grandchild started calling him and it stuck!! Much to his dismay!! Ha!)

  21. Ok bawling!!!! I am so truly happy for you, what a wonderful anniversary present, you'll never forget this day!! Now I'm off to read Abi's blog, can't wait!

    Happy Anniversary MiMi and JaJa!!!

PS I think about what my grandkids will call me all the time and I still have a toddler, lol!!

    Lots of love,
    jenn

  22. Happy Anniversary!! May God continue to bless you with many more delightful, fun-loving, endearing, and simply fantastic years together. Congratulations on becoming grandparents! I pray the Lord allows the process to move swiftly so that your grandbaby can come home to meet his forever family. Love it! God bless you all!

  23. WooHOO!! Over the moon excited!! You are so lucky and so blessed!!

FYI- I have chosen Mimi , too… … although none of my kids are even married and yes, I may be jumping the gun BUT I choose Mimi too- It is cuddly, yet young and active- love your choice!!

Jim thinks we should chose Chad and Ashley! Every time he says that I roll on the floor laughing… NO there is no hidden meaning! He just thinks we don't get to choose- whatever the kids call us is what our names are! I just love that guy and I think he is so funny!!

  24. Congratulations to you and the whole family… How exciting and wonderful. Love the chair posted above, too. One of my daughter's rooms is purple and orange, and I love it.

My mom is mimi to my girls, too.
