My Big Brother Dan

We are having a wonderful time.  Tyler and Sarah got here late last night {after a not-planned-for-tour of Sacramento}.  =)

I have taken lots of pictures already, against everyone’s will.  Aye-yi-yi.  One day they will thank me for all the pictures.  Or at least that’s the thought, right?  I am typing from Abi’s computer, so when I can upload them to my laptop I will and post some.

In the midst of all the festivities I have learned that my big brother Dan has cancer.  He had surgery just last week for what they thought was appendicitis.  When they opened him up though they found more than they had imagined.  He is now headed back to surgery in the morning.  I asked him for permission to write about it and ask you, my sweet bloggy friends to pray.

I deeply love my big brother.  We are very close.  He is calm and tender.  He was so concerned with my health, little did we know that cancer was hiding in his body.

Many of you have read his comments from time to time here.  He had a powerful prophetic word right after our fire.  He left it in the comment section here.   The profile name he uses is:  Big Brother Dan.

Anyway, I would love for you to join me in praying for his complete healing.  He is a loving husband to my sweet sis-in-love Julie, a dad to two precious daughters, Candi and Maridee and a grandpa to five beautiful little boys.  Dan and Julie were actually missionaries to Africa when I was in high school.  Maridee was born there.  They love the Lord and have served Him their whole lives.  I love my brother so much.  Would you pray with us?

He lives in the Dallas area and his surgery is tomorrow morning at 7:30am.  Thank you so much.   May Almighty God, known as Jehovah Rapha, heal him from head to toe.  I love you BB.  xo

  5. I called to make a physical appointment on Tuesday and the appointment is for tomorrow, but I have to fast. She was very apologetic, and I had to laugh knowing that I was fasting as I was calling. I figure God is giving me another day to fast and pray and I will add Dan to my list! Thank you so much again for giving us the opportunity to see God work miracles through prayer!

  8. I'll be praying for Dan! We also live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I'm a little late getting in on the prayers, so I hope you don't mind if I post mine here since your post was about cancer.

Please keep our 11 year old daughter, Sophia in your prayers. Last year she had a big tumor on her left kidney. She had surgery and her kidney was removed. Several weeks later we found out it was cancer. After many many months and many tests we found out the kind of cancer. It's called Hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer, HLRCC for short. It's rare and almost unheard of in children. In fact they told me that they have never seen a child with it. She is doing great. My prayer is that she is healed! And that when we go back for scans in January they will again tell us that the scans look great! also prayers for two of our sons, ages 9 and 5. The cancer is caused by a gene mutation, it's complicated, but basically, it's a nutated gene passed down that has been udentified and now all our children have to be tested. We already tested the two oldest children and THANK GOD, it was negative. We just had the blood draw this week for our sons. We should know in about 4 weeks. Sorry this is so long! God Bless you and I will be keeping Dan in my prayers.

PS. September is Childhood cancer awareness month.

  9. Linny, I am sorry to hear about the cancer in your brother's body. Yes, I will keep him in my prayers, especially during the time of his surgery today. I pray for complete healing within his body, that his faith is encouraged and that the Lord surrounds him with comfort and peace. Praying for the comfort and peace of your family, too.

  10. Praying with you. Friday is my usual fasting day, though I was honored to join with you earlier this week. Praying for healing surgery this morning–or healing without surgery

  11. Praying for Dan. I'm in Oklahoma–not too far from Dallas area. There are great doctors there–and of course, Jehovah Rapha knows no boundaries! He is able!

  12. We will be praying in Illinois for your dear brother !!!! May our mountain moving God, stun us all again with his miraculous healing power. Love, Ellen and family

  13. With you in prayer. As a cancer survivor myself, I know the power of prayer in these matters. I've seen great things happen against cancer where prayer is involved.

  14. I'll add your family to my prayer list. You should get to know "building the blocks" if you don't know them already. You have a lot in common. They have 9 children. You can both offer so much support to each other. I have featured them on my site if you would like to know more about them.

  15. Praying for complete healing of all cancer in your sweet Big Brother Dan!
Jesus please heal Dan, and calm the hearts of those who love him. In your name we pray. Amen.

    Love you Linny!

  16. Linny,

I prayed for your brother earlier. Then, I read his prophetic word about the fire, the fire details, Graham's surgery a day later, and then the death of your dog, Lucy, the day after that. I'm in tears.

On a happier subject, I am so glad that you are able to spend this joyous time with your family.
