An Oath from My Heart

 As I am reading the requests and praying {and fasting}

I am struck with something that I think I need to say.

Sweet friends, do not apologize or fail to post a request because “it is the same request as last time”.
Jesus told a parable once:

Luke 18:  1-8

The Parable of the Persistent Widow
 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men.  And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ “
 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Jesus told us this story so we would know how to pray:

Persistently
So sweet bloggy friends, lurkers and all:
Do NOT be embarrassed or too shy or anything else
to post the same request again {and again and again}…
Because ONE DAY we will see the fruit of all those prayers.
I honestly am convinced that Almighty God loves, loves, loves when people come together for a need.  I have sometimes wondered if there is a giant gauge in heaven displaying the number of people praying for a need, if the Lord waits till that gauge reaches a certain number and all of a sudden He says, “Okay, NOW!”
I know that’s probably not really true,
but it sure seems like it at times, doesn’t it?
And here is an oath
{which I take very seriously in making}
I promise you:

 I will never, ever tire of reading and
praying for your needs….
yes, the needs you have asked
prayer for over and over…
and that’s a promise I make for
the rest of my life, because I
know that our Miracle-working,
Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring,
Gasp-giving God is working
the nightshift on your behalf
and one day He will answer and
I will rejoice with you!
Even if that answer takes years
of praying for, I am in it for the long haul…
So post your requests {yes, the same ones you posted last time and the time before that} because there are many of us praying and agreeing together and kneeling before the throne of grace on your behalf, just like that woman known for centuries as “the persistent widow”…….
PLEASE POST
YOUR REQUESTS
ON THE PREVIOUS POST
{so that they stay in one place, it makes it so much easier to keep them all together!}

  1. What about the bowls of incense in Revolutions? Isn't that imagery kinda like a gauge? Then mixed with HIS power and thrown back to earth, like a bomb! It does make my prayers feel a bit more useful than just being incense.

  2. I wanted to say a HUGE
    THANK YOU
    to you Linny and all of those praying.
    We heard from our social worker today!!! It wasn't much news but it wasn't bad either.
    Praising God for his answer to prayer today!

  3. loved the parable of the persistent widow 🙂 and thank you for the encouragment, I will share my prayer request in your previous post after making this comment 🙂

    p.s. the flowers are beautiful, YHWH's creation is amazing! 🙂

  4. oh Linny….thank you so much for your blog, for your prayer challenges, for your witness, for your humor (i'm just saying…it's the BEST!), and for your commitment…how blessed i am/we are to read such words of love and encouragement amidst our circumstances. I make the same commitment back to you and those that post prayer requests…it is a privilege and calling to lift one another up and pray fervently as the persistent widow! God doesn't use easy lives, He uses the ones that have been through adversity, that have been tested by fire (you have proof of that!) and have been and continually are being refined by Him. The Joy of the Lord is our strength, along with a dose of Linny humor! Oh how the Lord uses you to brighten the hardest day! blessings dear friend and thank you! <3

  5. oh…and no i didn't post my request for today's prayer challenge because it was the same as before! So…thank you for this post. i will post next time! <3

  6. linny, so glad you posted this… i LOVE that parable and hold it very true in my heart. i cannot tell you how many times i've prayed the same prayer (sometimes over and over — yes, and over again for years). i truly believe God loves hearing us turn to him again and again. it shows Him that we really believe that He is there for us and that we aren't giving up on Him just because we didn't see a result within 24 hours of prayer 🙂
    this is just the encouragment that i know a lot of people need to hear. so thank you for being so… what's the word? intune? whatever 🙂 you know what i'm saying!!

  7. Hi Miss Linn!
    I do have a prayer request – this weekend, Fri. evening and Saturday day, we are having our first women's conference EVER! To say I'm terrified is laughably understated! 🙂 Mainly because I will be speaking at one of the sessions, and I SO don't want to miss what God is wanting me to say. PLease pray for clarity of mind, a transformed mind, wouldn't miss anything, for the women's hearts to be tender and teachable and repentant, and for the speakers overall. Thank you soooo much!

  8. i adore you. you are a treasure.

    thank you for this.

    come to chicago or nwindiana for something….i want one of those coffee shop meet ups!!!!
