Surgery

Thank you to all who have been praying for my mom.
I went with her to see the surgeon today.  The surgery is set for November 16th.  It turns out that her curated arteries in her neck {I’m so medical I have no clue if curated arteries are only in your neck or not}are blocked 90-95% on her left side and 85 – 90% on her right side of her neck.  {This gives me the willies personally!}
So they will go in and shunt and then clean out that left side.  Then they will put her in ICU and watch her.  There is a small risk of stroke.   In a couple of months they will go in and clean out the other side.
I am grateful for all who put prayer requests in yesterday.  I love agreeing with all of you for the concerns on your hearts.
Just so ya’ know…there were 57 comments when I woke up this am {it was about 5:50 ish}.  My new phone works great connecting with the internet….so from the convenience of my warm flannel sheets, I laid under my covers and read them off my new cell and prayed through those 57.  Thought some of you would at least get a giggle out of that.  I will pray through the rest tonight from my office.  And if anyone has other prayer requests you haven’t posted yet, please just comment on the last post.
Mom is staying with us for awhile and we are thankful for that.  I will keep you posted.

  1. Thank you for praying!!! Found out this morning that the extra time added to Korean adoptions doesn't affect our process. Thank you Jesus!!!! Hoping to bring home our sweet boy in the Spring.

Will keep praying for your sweet mom.

  2. Ha! I need a phone like yours cause I love my flannel sheets in the early chilly mornings of CO.

Praying for "mom" and "4RTroops!" We're getting some things together for our friend's daughter, Havilah who serves in the military in a hard place. Thanks for reminding us that our freedom comes at a precious cost.

    Hugs,
    Lisa

  3. This is random, but I love that song you have playing by Kim Hall.. so what I needed to hear right now. Also, thanks for saying hi tonight – nice to know that people notice you. Praying for your mom.

  4. Praying for you!!!!!!! For your mom too. My dad had that exact surgery a few years ago…one side 80-90% blocked, the other 90-110% blocked. He is doing great! Praying for all of the details and also for deep deep peace from the Lord for you guys right now.
    Hugs,
    Shannon

  5. (((hugs)))

praying for your mom, that there will be no stroke and that the surgery will go perfectly.

thank you for praying for us 🙂

    YHWH bless you 🙂

  6. Continued prayers for your mom. A special prayer for you too. Sometimes when caring for others, care givers can forget to take care of themselves. I will pray that you can sustain your energy during this time.

  7. Praying that all goes well for your mom. My father-in-law had that 11 years ago after a small stroke and came through with flying colors! Afterward, he asked the doctor if he could play the piano. The doctor said yes, and Floyd replied, "Good, because I couldn't play before"!

  8. Sister, my mom just had that same thing done! (She's actually having her hip replaced next Thursday). Anyway, it worked beautifully, and you'll be surprised at the change!!!

I am praying your mom through all of this! You too, as her support!

    Getting older is NO fun!

  9. Linny,

Glad you can be there for mom. I was as concerned as you were about her driving. Thanks for having her stay where it is safer for her.

Have a blessed day free of stresses.

    Blessings,

  10. I am PRAYING for your mom. I am NOT medical…all that blockage is NOT good so let's ask God to take care of it shall we???

LOVE your gray hair! I am curious…what does your mom SAY about her daughter going gray???

  11. I had my right coratid artery done. It is really easy and pain free. The risk of stoke is very minimal. I totally reccomend the 24 hour ICU thing. That is very important. Your mom will do fine – just no lifting or exertion for a while. Praying that you are without stress through this process. Trust in the Lord.
