Africa – Here They Come!!

Sunday, January 2nd, my sweet hubby, Emma, Graham and a few of the team members left to begin the journey to Africa.  They met up with other team members in Houston.  Three other team members went separately.  But all will, Lord willing, meet in Uganda on our Wednesday.
Here they are just before walking out the door:
Dw, Josh and Graham in the back
Emma, Tiffany and Sarah in the front…
{FIVE blog friends joined the team this time.}
Anyway, right after taking that picture above, we all prayed together, hugged them well…
and here’s what happened the minute the door closed.

{A 29 second glimpse into our home}:
I hope you guys understand….the kids are all fine and were about 2 minutes after, but thought you would think it was comical….the smiles of the team and the tears of the kids…they’re all playing  happily…
Thank you for praying for this team…their safety, their health, that children would find forever families, that orphans {and those who care for them} would be ministered to, and that Jesus Christ would be glorified….
One blog friend on the team, Ellen, took this picture at the Houston airport and texted it to me…
thank you soo much Ellen!!

  1. I know exactly how those little guys feel – I just said "good-bye for now" to my two sisters. One lives in Indonesia and I won't see her until next Christmas. The other lives in NYC and it might as well be Indonesia. If I am very blessed, I might see her one more time before next Christmas. It's hard to be separated from loved ones.

I will be praying for your family and your team!

  2. Too funny! My Ellie loves drama. She would have love to join in their crying…just because.

Prayers going up for the team and the family behind.

I believe God is awakening His church to the orphan crisis, and I look forward to being part of the mission!

  3. I will be praying for the team. Thanks for sharing their photo and then the crying episode. I'm sure they will be missed but will return safely and in good health, and for you all at home. Hugs!

  4. Oh, so sorry for the sad time at your house – but it did make me laugh! Thanks for sending them our way to bless all of us in Uganda. They are going to beat me there, of course, but I am so looking forward to seeing them when I arrive. I know they will be a blessing. Especially praying that more little ones will find a family because they are there. Hope holding down the fort while they are gone doesn't involve anything really dramatic! Praying about N and A!

  5. Ok, that video was hilarious. Poor little tender hearts didn't want to see their family go. 🙁 I like how the dog comes around the sofa shaking its head as if to be thinking, "What in the world is going on? Let me just grab a toy and go about my business." LOL.

Praying for the safety and effectiveness of the entire team!

  6. that video to me, just spoke lovely, lovely. Love…. how full of love those kiddos are.

and I thought….thats how I feel about Jesus….please come back now…I can't stand you being away!

  7. Is Jubilee's arm in a sling? Did I miss a post somewhere? (that would be typical of me) Hope she's doing ok.

Praying for the team on the ground in Uganda and the ones left behind.

    Hugs,
    Kelly

  8. Linn,

After watching the "goodbye cry" video, I saw Jubilee's birthday video — her joy is sooo contagious i found myself smiling right along with her! As the video played on, it just touched me so deeply — my heart was overwhelmed by the gravity of what you & Dw have done (and have mobilized tRC and others to do) on behalf of not only Jubilee and your 7 kids (+ grandbaby!) but orphans everywhere. Being allowed a glimpse into Jubilee's joy, i was surprised when in < 1 minute into the video, there were tears falling onto my keyboard even while I was smiling all along (and you know i'm not the "weepy" type). All i can say is you guys are my heroes. And i know you don't do what you do to earn the praise of men but golly, anyone who pauses long enough to consider what you've done and how it has impacted your kids' lives (not to mention the many others who will find or have found their forever families due to your influence) has got to be filled with admiration and inspiration. Because of you, the level of consciousness regarding the plight of the orphan & widow has been raised for me and tens of thousands of others. By your example, i learned that i can do more than pray, grieve, and watch from the sidelines – i can make concrete contributions. i know that idea is probably very apparent to many but really, it was a revelation to me. And David & i with our kids will continue to look for ways to do just that. By hearing you speak out on the bible's teaching, and especially by seeing you live it, you have empowered us and many others.

A word for you from Deut. 28: All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb [and those you claim after they've left the womb!] will be blessed . . . Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you . . .

    To Him be the glory!

Hugs & a Happy New Year to you Linn (+ Dw + kids)! – Liz
