Elizabeth Mercy Turns FIVE

January 1st doesn’t just mark the beginning of a New Year for our family….
it is the day we celebrate our Princess Elizabeth Mercy…

Breakfast in Mom and Dad’s bed…
{cause Emmy was still sleeping in the girl’s room and we’re letting
them sleep in since they are about to leave for Uganda}
{nice face Elijah}

 If you are new to our Place Called Simplicity, then maybe you haven’t read the rescue of our Elizabeth…but she is our miracle and seldom does a day pass that I am not reminded just how our Miracle-working, Mountain-moving, Awe-inspiring, Gasp-giving God moved to bring her home to us….
{Elijah and Elizabeth’s story are listed as Our Wild Adventure under Special Posts on the sidebar}
Anyway, before Christmas I asked Elizabeth what she would like for Christmas.
Without hesitation she said, “A little chair, a little table, a lamp and a Bible.”
 Really?
Really.
I asked her why she wanted that.  She said, “So then I can be like you mom.”  Most mornings, while it is yet dark, Miss Elizabeth moseys down the stairs and finds me having my ‘confiding time’ with the Lord…sitting in my big ol’ bear chair, with my lamp on…reading my Bible.
When she said that that’s what she wanted, I was so humbled.  But I thought I would wait and see if she really brought it up ever again.  A few weeks passed.  Once again, quite out of the blue, I said, “Elizabeth, what do you want for Christmas?”  Without a blink she quickly responded, “I already told you mom, a chair, a little table, a little lamp and a Bible.”
Well precious baby girl….what a delight to find {for Christmas} all the things needed to complete your wish…
and today {on her birthday, all dressed up as a princess} I had to take some pictures of her in her new Christmas chair with her lamp and little table {which is really a footstool} and her new Bible….
And yes, she sits there and “reads”….

 Just imagine, if it had not been for Almighty God’s {LITERAL} very last second rescue of Elizabeth…
she would never have had a mom or daddy or know a family and maybe never know Jesus…
and our family would have never known this treasure who makes us laugh on a daily basis….

The princess was not TOO excited!!

Isaiah loves to give presents….so he dug around the girls closet and
put together an outfit and wrapped it up for her….{how cute is that?}

Elizabeth with her new DW backpack…
 Emma made a castle fit for a beautiful princess!
 Elizabeth declared that Isaiah was her prince!!  {Daddy was a bit jealous, just sayin’}
And since you guys said you thought a video was fun….we thought we’d do another one….{actually we do tons…and we would probably overwhelm you if we posted them all on YouTube…}
and I will have Graham remind me how to post one…and post it later today…
In the meantime, would anyone out there like to wish our Princess a very happy birthday?

    P.S. I cannot wait to hug the little girls and boys in Mali, Africa where I am moving to. God truly broke my heart for the African orphan with you, my sweet friend Elizabeth. Wow, you can how hold up all your fingers on one hand when displaying your age. Yay! 🙂 You're such a big girl now and God has blessed you many times over already in your young life.
