Memorial Box Monday – A Giveaway – It’s VALENTINES DAY

Memorial Box Monday – where we remember.
Give thanks.
Acknowledge just what God has done for us.
Celebrate His provision, protection, and power!
But today we’re going to do something a little different.
It’s Valentine’s Day –
so let’s have a little sweet bloggy celebration!
Wanna?
Here’s how it works.
I won TWO Chocolate Covered Strawberry Candles
at a Celebrating Home party.
I want to give them to TWO of you.
Here’s all you have to do:
ONE candle will be given to someone who links a Memorial Box Monday story on today’s post.
ONE candle will be given to one of you sweet bloggy friends who leaves a comment sharing how Memorial Box Mondays have effected your life, by the stories you’ve read and clicking on the links for others stories.  For instance: you started writing your own stories down OR you bought a Memorial Box OR you are searching for one OR you have started to talk with your loved ones about the things God has done as you remember your own stories…whatever…leave a comment telling how God has used this to minister to your heart and you will be entered to win…

My treasures will randomly pick ONE winner from the comments
and
they will also randomly pick ONE winner from the links below that people link to this post.

{Sorry, old Memorial Box stories linked don’t count.}
I will have this MckLinky open until Sunday {2/20/2011}…

so relax…

you have plenty of time to write and link…

And lastly, we celebrated Valentines Day in our home with a tea for lunch.  We honored the martyrs of the faith who lost their lives. Martyrs like Valentine…..remembering their deep love for Christ, their courage and their heroism.  Oh that we would even have an inkling of what those who went before us endured for the sake of Christ…we wouldn’t be the same….

Pink just seemed so fitting…little princesses and princes…all dressed up for tea and sandwiches

Happy Valentines Day from our home to yours…
and don’t forget to enter the contest…
xo

  1. Oh, your Valentine's tea looks like it was such a great time together!

We had our very first Valentine's dinner together as a family….well, at least a special one. We also talked about how Valentine was martyred. I think we'll make it a tradition!

  2. Your stories, especially Memorial Box Mondays, have encouraged me to seek God in little things. I didn't grow up with the concept that you could pray about "real" things.
A few days ago, I had to go do something seemingly easy that was really scary for me (deal with a store). I remembered all your posts about praying, and I started praying. I prayed that God wouldn't just help me, but he would show His power and LOVE to me. It turned out that He did- not only was the situation easy, but I was blessed BEYOND what I could have imagined. I couldn't believe the love He showed me just for asking.

It was a little thing, but really and truly your posts help inspire me to pray about that. Thank you SO much.

  3. Happy Valentine's Day.

MBM is something I really enjoy. I made a journal in my MOPS group and have dedicated it to the stories for my own MBM. I still need a box for any artifacts but at least I"m getting the stories on paper to recall God's faithfulness. I'm planning on making more of these journals as a craft with a ladies group I will be hosting in March. Thank you for the stories they are touching and do remind me of God's faithfulness.

  4. What a wonderful giveaway. Your stories have encouraged me to become a better person and always remind me of God's faithfulness no matter the situation. I also went out and hunted for a memorial box and found one a little over a year ago at an antique sale. Hugs and love

  5. Elizabeth looks so beautiful in the last picture 🙂

That's a nice giveaway… FYI I personally don't feel comfortable celebrating Valentine's Day because of the possible association with Lupercalia (they worshipped a different god with a fertility festival) in Ancient Rome between Feb 13 and 15. The Catholics tend to merge into pagan festivals and associate them with Christian figures, in this case, St Valentine. We know that our God told His people not to learn the ways of the heathen as He cannot stand their idolatory ways.

I hope it is ok for me to share in here, because my view is different to the majority, but one thing we have in common is Jesus and Him alone, our Lord and salvation. 🙂

  6. Since coming to your blog and reading Memorial Box Monday posts, I have realized how I am not as thankful to God as I should be. I tend to lament the hardships of life (or maybe more appropriately, how life doesn't go MY way,) and forget to thank God for all He does for me and my family. Thank you for keeping this pessimist on track.

  7. i am new to your blog and have been so incredibly encouraged by many of the posts, but especially MBMs. they have been so faithbuilding for me… helping me to remember that our God DOES answer prayer- in powerful ways.. time and again for those who will just ask. i keep an extensive journal already but i like the idea of having a box to hold something tangible… hope to start one for our family, too! thank you!! haley

  8. I have loved all your Memorial Box posts….they are always so encouraging, uplifting, inspiring. I have been working on my MB stories for about 2 years now. I have been writing them down and collecting the symbols for each story. I have been looking for my MB box, but still haven't found one. I've talked to my husband & our g-kids about some of the miraculous ways that God has blessed our lives and answered my prayers.

Thanks for the opportunity to join your giveaway. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!!

  9. Memorial Box Mondays (and your blog in general) have definatley affected my life! I have been so inspired by your family, and I love the way God uses your writing to encourage others to strive to be more like Jesus!

God has been challenging me a lot about testimony ever since I started reading your blog, so this year I have been trying to be much more open about what God is doing so that I can celebrate God's goodness with others. I've started using my blog to record what God is teaching me, and also writing it down at home too. I want to remember what God is doing at this time in our lives.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to write this blog. It's greatly appreciated 🙂

  10. Memorial box Mondays always touch my heart to see what God has done and helps me to remember what he is always doing for everyone. This has reminded me that fasting is important, God works when we fast and pray and your Memborial Box Monday stories have taught me to always find the best of each situation.

Thank you for always sharing your stories and your life.

  11. We have so much to be thankful for! When we first started reading about the Memorial Box, we thought of so many things that we could put inside! These things are all over the house right now, but I'm looking for a box so we can keep all those great memories in one place.

    Blessings,
    Amy P.

  12. God made such an impact in my adolescent/teen years, that I frequently thought of those times whenever I needed to remember God's faithfulness.

But it wasn't until I came across your blog and learned about your Memorial Boxes, that I realized quite what I was doing. Suddenly, everything seemed to click. And I couldn't for the life of me think why I hadn't thought of having a Memorial Box myself!

Although I don't have a physical box to put things in (house is much too small!), I am keeping a written record both on my computer and on my blog. I've found that having a place where I relate God's answers to prayer, as well as His provision and protection, makes me much more aware of His work in my day-to-day life.

It reminds me of the hymn, "Count Your Blessings". By remembering God's faithfulness in the past, we can be encouraged and stand strong in Him when trials and troubles come.

    Thank you!

  13. I really don't need a candle. (I'm a little freaky about them..burning etc.) but I have to share!
Just last week at our home group several people were commenting about how we need to share more in group and at church about the great things God is doing in our lives. They love to hear miracle stories but don't..all that often. I shared about MBM and how we tell our miracle stories over and over. We are going to start doing this at the begining of group and even set aside time during sunday service to share!
I feel so blessed to have been guided to your website and several others. Every single day there is another story of God's amazing love! What a time we live in to be able to share and celebrate our faith this way!! Yippee JESUS!!

  14. I have to admit, but I don't celebrate Valentine's day. Me and my husband of almost 14 years have not celebrated it once – just never felt like we really need to. I don't know why.

But I love MBM, my friend actually is the first one to find out that the post is up and she rushes to let me know, and I rush to check it out.

I think, like with many people here, MBM allows me to stop and think and remember what He did for me. How he provided help, hope, guidance, and even material assistance in many ways – both big and small. It also reminds me how we are so fortunate to live in a world where the amazing and almost fairy-tale happens on daily basis. Think about it – just this week, how many things have you witnessed just this week alone, that would make an amazing epic movie or a book. That if a story like that was to be told by a creative media outlet, with flashy graphics and dramatic music, the whole country would be buzzing about it?
And yet I see miracles happen almost every day. A child finds a home. A dying child is res queued.A community comes together to help someone in need.

And on MBM I can look through this tapestry of wonders, sit back, sip my tea, and say "I live in an extraordinary world, under an extraordinary King, during extraordinary times."

  15. I just love Memorial Box Monday because I love to read of Gods faithfulness to his people! It reminds me that He has been faithful to me! I am looking for a box! Janet

  16. Linny, I cannot express how much your Memorial Box Monday posts have helped prepare my heart for the BIG journey that God has recently set us on. I don't need a candle, so please pick another name if mine is drawn, but I wanted you to know that I've begun doing MBM as well. This new journey that we're on will most likely be long, and I know I'll need to be able to look back and remind myself of His faithfulness.

  17. I have only recently found your blog, and sat for a very long time reading and re reading your MBM posts.
They are so inspiring, and have made me look so often at similar situations in my own life.

  18. Your stories have captivated me from the beginning. It's been a very long time since I have attended church or had an type of relationship with God. That has begun to change since I started reading your blog.

  19. Linny – your accounts of God's faithfulness, and the accounts of others have so encouraged and strengthened my faith. I had been searching for just the right Memorial Box, and never fond THE one.
God had a different plan in mind! As I was reading through Genesis & Exodus, I was reminded of the importance of memorial stones to the children of Israel. I found some "river rocks" at Walmart & the perfect antique wooden bowl, and now we have our family memorial stones! We had a great afternoon with the kids recording dates & events where God has intervened on our behalf, which were then written with permanent marker on the stones! We can't wait to add more as the days go by, and read through our blessings periodically!!
Thank you for encouraging us with the importance of remembering the Father's faithfulness!
