Well, THAT was a Surprise!

I love this picture of Liberty.
{She has the greatest giggle and she was giggling big time when I snapped this.}
Anyway, Liberty told me recently she was having trouble seeing far away.
Hmmm.
Okay.
Made an appointment for our eye doctor.
I was a minute or so behind her as I went into the room this afternoon.
He already had her at the little machine that is like a
preliminary thing that gives him an idea what her eye sight is like.
He looked pretty surprised and said, “Wow.  If that’s any indication of what we can expect…whew!”
Sure enough the kid has needed glasses for awhile.
Like a LONG while.
I told him that she is just not a complainer or whiner.
She’s just easy-going and had never {until recently} said she couldn’t see.
He kept shaking his head.  He said, ‘Boy, is she going to be in for a surprise
when she can see that things have edges!!”
Yes indeed.
Miss Liberty is getting glasses.
And she’s gonna’ look gorgeous!!

  1. I adore that picture of her!

And not to feel bad, my mom didn't believe me when I told her I couldn't hear either 🙂 hee hee!

Hugs to Liberty – she's gonna look amazing in her new specs!

  2. She is a gorgeous girl! Her smile is contagious! And those glasses will frame and display the joy in her eyes! Tell her I know she will look super sophisticated and radically cool!

  3. I remember my first pair of glasses, I remember telling my mom that trees had leaves, I had just seen green blobs before then…haha my eyes are horrible. I'm sure Liberty will look just beautiful with her glasses, and will be suprised by what she can see too!

  4. I was like Liberty and needed them for a long time before I got them. When I got them I was in awe! Tell her to look at the trees – I will never forget the trees and their leaves!

  5. I SO remember the day I got my first glasses. I looked out the window across from the eye place and said "The trees have leaves!" Before they were just a blur of green, now I could see detail! She is going to love them!

  6. When I first got glasses, I remember enjoying the beauty and the color of God's creation. Everything was so colorful. 🙂 So funny, but I can visualize her in glasses. Square ones maybe? She's going to be so pretty and look so stylish. 🙂

  7. I got glasses in 7th grade. I was so surprised that you could see individual leaves on trees and that I could see bushes on the hill down the road. I never complained about wearing glasses because I was so happy to be able to see things clearly. Go Jubilee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. She'll look gorgeous in glasses 🙂 when the others mentioned seeing leaves in trees, it makes me realise that there's some things I take for granted… the beauty of detail 🙂

  9. Can't wait to see the new glasses.

I've worn glasses forever but it took years for people to figure out why I kept tripping. They thought it was a balance issue. It turns out I can't see my feet in front of my face, literally!

  10. It will be like Christmas when she gets to see clearly all the beautiful sights around her. Edges even. At least that's how I felt about my first pair of glasses as an adult. I love them.

  11. How wonderful! I was almost legally blind when they figured out i needed glasses – WOW what a difference – suddenly, I could read! I hope she has a wonderful experience. Our daughter was unhappy that she was on the edge of needing glasses and it was not recommended yet – she had picked out her favorite pair already.:) Glasses are much cuter these days. She will be astounded at the beauty of the earth and at seeing it in all its glory! When I got my first pair, I didn't realize that you could actually see leaves on trees, not just big green blobs.

  12. I was the same way when I was around Liberty's age. My parents were shocked. I was too when I could suddenly see clearly. I love picking out new glasses. It's like getting a new haircut! Can't wait to see pictures.

  13. yes she is going to look so lovely.
I went for eye test at 17yrs old and response was "do you drive?"
    "Yes, I do"
"Don't then. Not Until you get glasses"

    End of conversation !!!!!!

Grace loves choosing her glasses every few months, it's so much fun!

Liberty is going to just look so lovely! x

  14. To this day I laugh about a conversation I had my frosh year of college with a hall mate who got glasses for the first time the day prior. We were walking outside to clss and she looked up and gasped…"Oh my word did you know that trees have leaves!" Of course she knew that trees have leaves but she never realized that a person could actually see them as anything more than a pre-school outline when they were still on the tree. That was at least 14 years ago and I am still giggling at her sincere amazement.
