Memorial Box Monday – The Backpack

I have a sweet story, that just happened a couple of weeks ago to share.

It goes like this:

Since the fire and losing everything we have slowly replaced a few of the things we lost.  But really?  We haven’t replaced much {which is a good thing, in our humble opinion!}.  It all takes time and it all takes energy, neither of which I have enough of! {haha}

So here I am leaving for Uganda and thinking about the trip and realizing that I would like to have a
backpack to take my stuff in as we have a long layover.
My first thought was, “How much is that gonna’ cost?”  Then I remembered to pray!  I said, “Lord, would you please provide a really nice like-new backpack at a thrift store?  Oh yeah, I don’t have time to cruise thrift stores, so could you please just like have it right there, without any effort.”
God’s word says, “You have not because you ask not.”  It also says, “Cast all your cares on Him cause He cares for you.”  Well that just makes whole lot of sense to me.  So basically that means – make your need known and expect Him to answer!!
A few days after praying that prayer Dw and I were downtown and went into our favorite thrift store.  {Okay, so that probably isn’t completely accurate.  It’s my favorite thrift store.  Dw just politely obliges thrift store shopping – now yard sales on the other hand?  He completely, absolutely and totally loves those!}  So this  particular day I felt like I had to go to that thrift store that day.
No surprise.
Look what the Lord had on top of the purse/backpack table.
In absolutely perfect shape.
Not a stitch out of place.
And the price??
Seriously!!
Check it out.
  Yippee Jesus!!!

He is so amazing!!

 SO AMAZING!!

So what about you?  What do you need?
What mountain does the Lord have to move for you or your family or your friend?
 He is completely faithful.
And just think…
If He cares about lil’ ol’ backpacks – just imagine how much He cares about the big stuff??!!
Just think!
Please share your Memorial Box Monday permalink below…I can’t wait to read them all!!

PS.  My mom is in ICU.  The surgery went well.

  2. I laughed out loud at the price!!! God goes so far beyond what we expect!! Please tell me that price tag is what you're putting in your Memorial Box!! 🙂

P.S. Praying for your mom's recovery – thanks for keeping us updated!

  3. Your story made me laugh out loud! Isn't God so good? I love that He even cares about backpacks!!! Thanks for sharing this story! I needed that faithbuilder! God Bless You!

  4. Linny, I love that you post stories like this! I need these reminders. He truly does care and provide for his people. God is good.

Off to go pray now for my list of worries… instead of worrying about them or trying to take matters into my own hands!

  5. Super cool! I really needed this. We are in serious need of a car. He has provided cars for us in the past and I have a hard time asking the Maker of the Universe for a car when stuff like earthquakes and tsunamis and starving children are all around me. I know in my heart we can go to Him for all of our needs but my mind has a hard time with it! I mean He saved my soul, should I really be bothering HIM with a car or a new sink?!

  6. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! God does provide. Thank for reminding me to ask. I pray so much for God's perfect timing, which is what I want, but sometimes I need to be honest and just lay it all out there. I want to know my child. I want my child to be on the way home soon! But most of all I want God's will to be done. Thanks!

  7. I love it! God really does care about the little stuff and sometimes I forget to pray about it because I can handle it. Thanks for the reminder.

On another note..I love Elliot Moses name! When is the precious boy coming home?

We are having a trivia night and silent auction this Friday. We are hoping to raise all the funds needed for Brianna to go to Uganda with you all in June! Friends are already asking what can they send for the children. Let me know so we can start collecting!

    Hugs,

  8. Honestly – one of the BIGGEST lessons I have learned/am learning from your blog is that nothing is too "petty" to God.

I honestly have always felt selfish and whiney asking God for little things, like even a backpack… and I'm learning that not only is it OKAY to ask, but he CAN and WILL hear you.

Thank you for teaching me… you're such a sweet friend, and I've never even met you! 🙂

  9. How beautiful! I love this idea… it's so wonderful to remember the REAL ways God provides for us and cares for us. Thank you for sharing!

  10. HA!
God answered me…almost audibly…as i pressed 'publish your comment' on that one.

"BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR MEMORIAL BOX UP YET, LOVE!"

    =)

  11. LOVE IT!

Please add my Dad to your prayers. He was diagnosed on MOnday with Congestive Heart Failure and is having surgery today to check for blockage. I need YOUR prayers! I am having a day of fasting and praying today!

    Thank you

  12. I'm glad your mom's surgery went well.

This was especially encouraging because I need to pray a little more specifically on moving our adoption along quicker. I really thought it would be moving faster. I've said this whole time, "In God's timing", but have I really prayed that he will move these mountains a little quicker??? I wrote a post a while back on praying specifically, but I guess we all need a little reminder from time to time!

  13. Very humbling isn't it to be reminded yet again that the Lord cares about everything in our lives. Big and small things He cares about them! He loves us so much!
