Their Faces….

When we were in Uganda, towards the end of our trip, there were some protests in the streets.  Our son, George, did not think that they would come anywhere near us.  Yet the last day, they came right to where we were.  Hundreds of Ugandans very angry about the rising costs.
There was some shootings in the streets on our last day as well.  We were scheduled to go back to the slums, but I canceled us going for the safety of the team.
I have had people ask me what the cost of living in Uganda is like.  Well, for starters, most food and clothing is very similar to the same cost as in America.
BUT the wages are FAR different.

Their income {if they have one} is next to nothing.
So no doubt, it is nearly impossible to buy essentials on that!
Today there was more protests and they have turned to rioting.
There have been shootings and about 150 have been injured and hospitalized.
We love Uganda.
We love the people of Uganda.
Our hearts are pleading with the Lord.  We have ministered now {combined} seven times there in the last 2-1/2 years.
We see the faces in our minds.
Would you pray for the rioting to stop?
For the safety of those children living on the streets?
Where do they run to hide?
Who will protect them?
Prayer is all I can do from here.
Would you please pray with us?

  1. Praying with you. I look at the pictures of the precious children and their beautiful faces and the sadness in their eyes…the longing and I am heartbroken. I like to believe that is only the truth in other parts of the world..but I know it isn't. We are foster parents in the US and we see children come with nothing – maybe cloth around them for diapers and babies who have never tasted formula- been given tea or worse beer. Children who have never had a hot meal so they throw up everytime they are served one. Precious little ones who when you raise your hand to say hi or reach for something they think you are going to hit them. Children who never unpack because they always think they will have to move today. I guess what I am saying is, pain and hurt are everywhere…even in our own backyards. The children of this world need us. Thank you Linny for being a voice for the Ugandan children.

I like to believe that kind of longing is only in other countries, but I know it isn't. We are foster parents (adopted 2 gems) and see children come with nothing. Children who have never had a hot meal so they throw up everytime they are served one. When you raise your hand to reach for something they cower in fear that you are going to hit them. 3. I'm so sad for those who have nowhere to run for safety. I am scheduled to go to Uganda in 31 days on a mission trip with Visiting Orphans. Praying for the violence to stop and that we will still be able to go.

  4. I have been fasting since supper yesterday (for the first time ever more than just one meal)… our youth group is doing 30 hour famine project to raise awareness and money for the orphan. I have been praying and will continue. Thank you for setting such an amazing example to follow in your spiritual disciplines. I really have been "mentored" by you without you even knowing. Thank you for being a vessel the Lord used, your obedience has brought obedience in me. 🙂

  5. Those faces are almost too much. I will pray, I pray each day. I will pray more. Linny, my heart breaks just looking at these photos its just wrong on so many levels

  6. yes, praying with you.

love that God already had it on many of our hearts and a fasting & prayer was already scheduled. thankful for unity of heart for these precious people.

  7. Praying for the protection of the children, and wisdom for the Ugandanese government that they may know what to do, do right things, and believe in the Lord for eternal salvation.

  8. Have been lifting Uganda to the heart of the Father and for the safety of "our" street children. I would like to add one prayer request that is effecting the missionaries that we know in jinja. Some government officials seized their passports as they felt the passports were related in some way to corruption in the office of immigration. Of course, this is untrue, but at anyrate, the passports are being held. The missionaries are supposed to furlough in the US this summer and it will not be possible if they don't have their passports in hand. Please pray!

  9. This just breaks my heart Linny. What is the latest on this situation? Praying for peace and healing. Looking forward to ministering there in June.

Also what is the latest on Kirill? Do you have an update for us? Been praying…

    Hugs,
    Robin
