Unexpected

Recently something occurred that left us reeling.
It was completely not on our radar.
At all.
The kind of thing that we have grappled at trying to comprehend and understand ‘why?’.
In the next few days I am going to share about it.
Please pray for me as I prepare to write what happened.
Anyway, in the midst of our grieving the situation
some flowers arrived for me.
I was dumbfounded.
It is not my birthday
{thank goodness – don’t feel like being a year older yet}.
It was not our anniversary.
When I opened the card I could have fallen over.
They were from a blog friend in Australia.
Someone I have never met, only through the blog world.
And little did she know that we were going
through such a very difficult and rough time.
They were from Susan A, a sweet treasure of a woman who has a heart for the orphan and pleasing the Lord.
I don’t think she would mind me saying this, but,
I wrote the “How to Hear God Speak” series last year – really, just for her.
I had mentioned in a post that I had taught a class on How To Hear God Speak and Susan A had written to me saying that she would love an audio of that BUT she was hearing impaired.   Susan asked if I would consider writing it and posting it on the blog.   I was brought to tears.  Of course I would write it for her!
Anyway, so the flowers arrived two weeks ago.
Totally unexpected.
Just like our situation.
And ya’ know what was amazing?
What she wrote on the card was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment regarding our difficult circumstances.  Unbeknownst to her, Susan A had written what the Lord wanted us to hear.
She had heard Him whispering what to write.
And I just knew you bloggy friends would love that.
The Lord sending flowers from the opposite side of the world,
just for me,
with exactly what I needed to hear.
If you have not read the series and would love to hear God speak personally, just to you, consider sliding over to the sidebar and look under “Important Posts”.

In the meantime, thank you Susan A.  Thank you for caring and thank you for listening to the Lord.  You are such a blessing and I pray that one day I can hug your neck in person!

  1. I'm so sorry you are once again going through something hard.

Those flowers are so beautiful and I loved that God used a bloggy friend on the other side of the world just when you needed it.

    Praying for you!

  2. So sweet Susan A! Linny, I feel nervous to read what you're going to post about. I want only good things for you and your family! I trust though that whatever is happening, God is there in it. I will pray for you. 🙂

  3. Wrapping you in prayer Linny during this difficult time. I am always thrilled to see God show you His love…just for you….you are such a faithful servant and loving person. Enjoy your flowers.

  4. Wow, on the perfect timing! It's wonderful to hear how God used you to teach (bless) this woman on how to hear God and she was able to bless you. I just love that. Oh, I loved the 4 blogs you wrote on how to hear God speak!!! They were to the point and very enlightening and I know it blessed many people. Praying all is better!

  5. What an amazing God we have – who takes care of our every need – even though we are walking through a storm , He is always present! Praying for your entire family with this difficult situation.

  6. Dearest Linny, praising the Lord that He used the flowers and note to minister to you at that exact time, only He would have known!

And thank you so much for writing the "How to Hear God Speak" posts, I didn't know that it was specifically for me to learn, that is so sweet of you and so much appreciated!!! 🙂 The others will benefit from it so much too… what I've learnt most from it is to include Him in our thoughts 100 percent of the time (which is hard for me to do as I've a habit of always thinking independently and critically too… I'm now trying to change that, need His help for this).

Sometimes I wonder, is that me thinking or is that Him speaking to me? Or… am I looking too much into things or is that Him actually showing me? It's hard to tell… the note that I sent you, I wondered what verses to use and thought of some, but was indecisive… I wasn't sure what to put in. From your previous posts that you shared, I knew that you wanted Him to break your heart for the things that break His, and from this understanding came the words for the note, and I thought to use that. I am so glad that it ministered to you at that time, I would have no idea.

I'm sorry for the difficult and sad situation, will pray for His peace and kindness.

    ((hugs))

  7. Praying for you and your family. Though we may be far apart in distance, in the bloggy world we are like neighbors, praying you feel the love of Jesus through us at this diffucult time.

  8. Praying for your family!!

I also ask for prayers for our unexpected situation. My niece is in the picu from ecoli and needs our prayers!!!

  9. Linny, I love that God chooses to use each one of us, broken vessels that we are. Our family is going through a horrible situation as well. I will add you to my prayer list today, because I said the same exact words on my blog several weeks ago about our situation,"it wasnt even on my radar." so I know what that feels like. I continue to try to capture EVERY thought and bring it captive. To praise Him in the midst of each moment and find those things that He needs to be thanked for. If I dont…… the tears have been many. I think over the past 3-4 years I have cried an ocean. I am glad that He takes notice of them. (the tears) Through it all He is transforming me, its a painful process I admit. XXOO

  10. That is so sweet! I have been praying for your family. I hope that everything works out for you just as God would have it. You are such a blessing to so many, I can totally believe God would do this…JUST.FOR.YOU!!!!

    Lotsa Love from Indiana:)
