7:45 pm Monday Update on Karl

First I have to tell you….
Karl is the oldest of three boys.  Both brothers have been here since the accident.  Derek is 18.  He’s the youngest and I was telling him about the 72 Hour Prayer Vigil.  Derek was pretty tickled.  He has just returned from a mission trip to Mexico.  He loves his big brother and this has been very difficult on both him and their brother Ryan.
Anyway, this afternoon about 3:30pm Derek came and plopped beside me.  He said, “Show me who is praying right now.”  It was very wonderful to pop onto the spreadsheet and say, “Look Derek, Angela, Mrs. C and Kristy are praying right now.”  He was clearly touched.
Thank you all for putting your names on there
{and if you still want to, you can just scroll down to the previous post}.
So very encouraging to our hearts.
NOW….
There is a natural concern that if I tell you something encouraging everyone will stop praying.  BUT 72 hours is the most critical time, so we have to keep the prayers going.
Tonight is critical.
If his numbers stay steady where they are, they will attempt to give him a ‘sedation vacation’ and try to wake him up.
Please pray, specifically, that the night will be uneventful and he will be able to be wakened and he will clearly respond to their commands.
We need to continue to pray that there will
be NO swelling in the brain
AND
that the trauma to his chest will heal quickly.
A little while ago I tweeted that Karl had a temperature.
You guys started praying with us.
His temperature, in no time, that it had dropped to 98.7.
Another miracle.
Now for some very encouraging news.
Just now Autumn was in his room with his parents.

She was holding his hand.
All of a sudden he started to grip her hand.
GRIP
Not just a little squeeze, but a grip.
Autumn kind of yelped.
She told Karl’s mom and dad to come around the bed to see.
Sure enough Karl was gripping her hand tightly.
He would not let go.
Time passed.
The grip continued.
When it was time to leave the room,
they had to pry his hand off Autumn’s.
We were so very encouraged.
True enough, he is heavily sedated,
but it clearly looked to Bob and Vicki
that he was indeed squeezing hard with
what seemed to be a purpose.
They told the nurse, but she only smiled.
Stuart {our neurologist friend} said it was a good sign too.
Please, please, please do not let up the prayers.
Join us in thanking the Lord for us for the miracles we have seen and please continue to plead complete healing for Karl, his chest injury to heal so he can breathe out the CO2, with not one bit of pneumonia setting in,  his brain to not swell and that when they give him a ‘sedation vacation’ at 7am MST tomorrow morning, he will do really well responding to their commands.
Thank you sooo much!
Seriously, please do not stop praying.
and if you missed signing up for the prayer vigil, see the last two posts.

  1. I am not able to sign up on the spreadsheet but I am one more person praying as the Lord brings Karl to mind. He has already done this more than once today since I read about all that has happened. I am praying for Karl as well as all the people who love him. May the Lord's peace and comfort be with you through every minute of everyday. And in the name of Jesus fear, you have no place hear-depart! I praise God with you for prayers answered and prayers yet to be answered.

  2. Praying all those prayers at my time right now plus for his family and friends to feel HIS presence in a very big way. Praying for also for anyone who may not know the Lord to be drawy to the Lord and want to give their lives to him.

  3. Tears of joy…no way can we let up in prayer…we are to Karl what Aaron and Hur were to Moses…we will hold his arms up until he can hold them up on his own…until then…we pray unceasingly! We will not stop praying! Thank you for this precious update…the squeeze of the hand…oh my…such hope in his grip…such hope indeed!

    Exodus 17:12
But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

  4. I have followed your blog for over a year now. I sent you an e-mail a long time ago about having family in upstate NY, but I have never commented publicly on your blog. This prayer request has touched me deeply as my sister's in-laws were miraculously spared by an ever-loving Heavenly Father after a horrific motorcycle accident. I know this is just the kind of situation where God likes to show up and show off! I have signed up to pray/praise on Wednesday as I drive an hour to Rochester, NY to pick up my hubby. Can't wait to see what God is gonna do!

  5. Praying so hard for Karl and all. Signed up for tuesday on spread sheet. Lifting all of you up moment to moment. Here are some verses for Karl.
Your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you;the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Isaiah58:
But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.
    Jeremiah30:17.

  6. Linny, there is definitely power in prayer. A few years back my brother-in-law was critically injured in a motorcycle accident and should have died on the way to the hospital. We did the same thing, got word our for everyone to email and add to prayer lists. It was amazing how God healed him. The doctors said he probably would never walk again, but he did. They said he would need years of rehab, but he didn't. My brother-in-law was scheduled to take his corporal exam for the police force in six weeks after the accident and everyone said it would never happen. Well it did happen and he passed. We received prayers by email from all over the world. So be encouraged. God has great plans for Karl.

  7. Oh Linny…It's just amazing that we can all be a part of this team lifting Karl up to His Father in heaven! And thrilling to hear of the progress!

I'll be heading to bed in the next hour or so, BUT I almost always wake up a few times through the night… Pray that at these times I would be coherent & that God would remind me to pray for Karl! (I'm usually only "coherent" enough to find my way to the bathroom & back to bed!)

I can't wait to hear of the miracles that God WILL do through this night!

    Love you,
    ~Sharon

  8. I don't sleep well due to frozen hands and bad hips, so when I am up during the sleepless time, I will pray for Karl…
    Love from NC,
    Sandy

  9. P.S. Wanted to mention that my sister's in-laws live in Perry, NY and I know they will be honored to pray for Karl as well. So many people prayed for them after their accident, and they were so grateful. Praying for amazing recovery tonight.

  10. I will not stop praying for Karl! I have him written on my hand and have already had many ask me about it!
Our children are praying for him and I am thinking about writing his name on their hand too tomorrow morning!

Please tell Derek, Ryan, Bob and Vickie that we will not stop praying for their dear son and brother!

    Give Autumn an extra HUG!

We want to be part of this miracle- of God's miracle!

All glory goes to HIM!! Praise HIM!

  11. I can not stop praying for Karl and the rest of you! It seems everytime I stop talking to the Lord something else reminds to continue!

    *HUGS* to everyone!
    Shanna

  12. Continuing in prayer for Karl and family in the middle of the night (late night bottle for our little guy) and honored to do so! Thrilled to read the encouraging stories several have left about a loved one who was seriously injured but experienced complete recovery through God's mercy and provision.

    Praying for Autumn, too!
