Karl Hujus: Update Thursday 7/21/11

I am home with the kids for a few hours and
Dw called to give an update.
Bob and Vicki just spent some time in with Karl.
Karl has an infection in his lung{s?}.
They could tell he is in a lot of pain and is coughing a lot.
It was very difficult to see him in such pain.
The nurse came out to sit with them in the
waiting room and talk to them.
Let me back up a bit.
Yesterday when Dw was in with Karl, Dw started talking to the nurse caring for Karl.  The nurse was so kind-hearted.  We have mutual friends and she is a believer!
So today, when the time with Karl was difficult to bear, the lovely nurse {from yesterday, who is again caring for Karl} came out to talk to Bob and Vicki.  She comforted them.  She said that she was inquiring to see if she could work tomorrow again so that she could care for Karl again.  Vicki said, “Oh, it’s okay, just spend time with your husband.”  She said, “My husband can wait, I want to help save your son’s life.”
A ministering touch from the Lord,
such a tenderhearted loving nurse!
We thank you all who have joined in the day of fasting for Karl.
Here are some specific prayer needs at the moment:
{1}  Healing of infection in his lung{s?}.
{2}  Reduction of pain by God’s grace.
{3}  Peace would flood his room and Karl’s body.
{4}  Brain to continue to heal.
{5}  Comfort and peace for Bob, Vicki, Ryan, Derek, Autumn and all the rest who deeply love Karl.
{6}  Wisdom for all those who tend to Karl.
{7} That his eyes would open voluntarily.
Thank you.
Heading back to the hospital after giving
some more lovin’ to these treasures of ours.

  1. Fasting and praying today for Karl. Praying for peace and comfort and for the infection in his lungs to clear up. We're also praying and believing that today is the day that he opens his eyes. Love you guys! You are amazing for all of the love and support that you have given to the Hujus family. They are blessed to have such amazing friends as you all.

  2. Wow, what a wonderful nurse! I'm happy to know specifically what to pray for today. I haven't stopped thinking about Karl and you all since you first posted. Praying along with you today and also for you Linny as you run back and forth and try to manage things at home. I'm sure the kids are feeling it. Praying for strength.

  3. thank you for taking the time to update us. I only want to give out what you tell us and I have so many friends here in OK praying for Karl. I felt so compelled last night to pray for strength for all parents and siblings and of course for Autumn last night and that your sweet babies at home would be comforted by the holy spirit when mom and dad are away. lots of love and prayers. We will lift up these specifics now too!

  4. Praying and fasting and praying. The verse I keep thinking of today is Isaiah 40:31. Praying that He will hold all of you so close that you can feel the beat of his heart, and that His strength will carry all of you through this very difficult time.

  5. Just got home from a mini-vacay with my family and caught up on all the news. Will be praying with you all today and tomorrow for victory, for healing, for a break-through. Please give Autumn a special hug from The Gang – I can't even imagine what she is feeling and going through during this time. Praying, praying, praying!

I find it interesting that he recently expressed interest in being baptized. I don't think it's a coincidence – the enemy does NOT want sold-out YOUNG MEN serving the Kingdom. When this generation of young people, particularly young men, get sold out for Jesus, this presents a great threat to the enemy's camp ground of apathy and self-agenda'd living.

And in our community of prayers, we are standing with you saying that the enemy canNOT have Karl. He canNot.

  6. Thank you for the update, and thanks to God for the lovely nurse caring for Karl……praying today for all of your specific requests. Won't Karl be tickled when he awakens to find how many people across the country have adopted him into their families 🙂 ????
Big hugs to all of you,
    Heather

  7. I am sorry to hear that he is having difficulty breathing and in pain. Thank you for giving us a list of what to pray for specifically, I will pray for them (along with many others).

  8. In prayer for that lung infection to be able to be treated and heal quickly!

    Fasting for lunch.

Praising God that he would put such an incredible nurse in Karl's path. Aren't those little touches the most precious in challenging times?

    Hugs to all of you.

  9. Continuing to pray for Karl and for the families. Here's a little something for you from our LORD!!!

Psalm 91:12 – 16 "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

  10. Praying for Karl- for the list that you mentioned and all that love him. This must be so hard on everyone.
Take a deep breath and give yourself a moment- you must be exhausted.
    HUGS to you dear friend-
    Jean

  11. Linny,
As I read, the scripture from Habakkuk 2:2 & 3 just flooded my heart. As you write…we run with it! And there was great emphasis on "because it will SURELY come, and it will not tarry."

As we are praying and waiting on God, the only One who can do this…we know that He is faithful to act on behalf of those who wait on Him.

Thank you Father for acting on Karl's behalf now and on behalf of all of those who so love him. Oh that men would give thanks unto the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works for the children of men! THANK YOU Lord! We thank you!

  12. I'm continuing to pray!

I was teaching one of my violin students today whose family lives in Pagosa Springs, and are believers. I started to share this prayer request with her, so that they could be praying too. As soon as I mentioned the motorcycle accident, she said, "Oh! I heard about that! Our pastor shared the request with us! How is Karl doing?" I was able to fill her in, and gave her the address to your blog, Linny, and she's going to pass the word so that people can continue to pray!

  13. Still praying here in Texas. I saw someone else had the thought of the song "Open the eyes of my heart Lord." That is what God woke me with this morning and I immediately started to pray for Karl again. God is with you all may you feel his presence and be comforted.

  14. Praying today that the Father's Kingdom would come & His will be done in Karl's body as it is in heaven…no infection, pain, etc. in heaven & praying that reality for Karl's body TODAY! Love & hugs to all.

  15. I am praying this verse for Karl

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. (Psalms 40:2)

    Loved this verse of hope:

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

  18. This morning, I was in the car praying for Karl when "The Voice of Truth" came on the radio. Other songs had been playing in the background while I prayed, but this one caught my attention. I immediately felt like I needed to share the lyrics with Autumn as a reminder that even this trial is for God's glory. Hopefully she will get a chance to see these:

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

  19. I just wanted to let you know that I fasted this morning for Karl and have been praying all day (and ever since Sunday). He is on my mind, in my thoughts, and in my prayers. God bless all of y'all!

  20. I will fast tomorrow morning's breakfast…my favorite meal of the day…in prayer that Karl will open his eyes and see the morning light from his hospital room.

  21. Dearest Linny: Praying specifically for all seven things listed. I have my prayers times on the prayer vigil – but please know I am praying all of the time, without ceasing. Karl is on my mind every waking moment. God bless and be with Karl, all of you, and all of the attending physicians and nurses. xoxoxo

  22. Linny,
I couldn't sleep last night so spent the lost time praying for Karl. I guess that is a type of fasting too. Lifting all of you up to His throne of grace and mercy. God bless.
