A Yard Sale Surprise….

I mentioned the other day that there was a sweet surprise at
our yard sale for Ruby Grace and Sarah Jane.
I had gone to put something in the car and when I got back,
Dw could hardly stand it!
He was almost jumping up and down with excitement!
 “Guess who’s here?”
I started scanning all the unfamiliar faces who were
sifting through the yard sale stuff and not recognizing one face,
“Who?”
“The EMT who was at Karl’s scene – Denise!”
I had been praying that the Lord would allow me to hug the neck of each of these precious people.  Liz had come to the hospital one day {and she is just precious!}  Mike the anesthesiologist lives out of state.  But Denise lives in our area and I could not wait to meet her and thank her in person!
I asked her if I could pleeeease take a picture….
She graciously agreed.
Meet a real life ministering angel:
Denise {the former EMT}
I had to laugh after looking at the picture.  I look almost giddy.  {Silly me, I’m telling you, I could not wait to hug each of these precious people.}
And ya’ know what?
Denise bought the barrel bottom hoosier and the antique bookcase.
{The two favoritest things that I hated to part with!
Extra fun to know they’ve gone to a good home!}
I spoke to Vicki yesterday for quite a long time.
I know many of you continue to pray for Karl.
Thank you so much.
This is a long road.
The road was said to be a roller coaster.
 They weren’t lying.
I had never had someone up close who had a TBI
 {traumatic brain injury}.
Karl continues to improve…
he loves when Autumn gets there each week
and trust me, she love, love, loves being there!
The last two weeks there were not any seats open on the flight she was to take.  We prayed and Almighty God cleared one seat each flight – and so she was able to hop on and get there.  She definitely continues to see God’s mighty hand in the midst of this painful and unexpected situation.
For those who continue to pray with us, please would you pray for these specific needs
for Karl?
*brain would continue to heal from all the bruising and
restore all previous abilities.
*cognitive abilities would completely heal.
*complete memory would return.
*would have endurance for the remaining time in rehab.
*would be able to process the accident, the emotions of the effect it has had on his life and the trauma of it all.
We are so thankful for all the continued care and prayers.
Thank you for not forgetting.

  1. Continuing to pray for Karl and his needs and Autumn's traveling mercies. Glad she's able to be with him and still loves him. Hang in there, Linny! I guess going through washing machine woes is nothing compared to this but it's all in God's hands! Hubby tried to fix the washer but it's still leaking a bit. I did a load of laundry yesterday and washer misbehaved! Am waiting for Thurs when my friend will take me to pick up the new washer from Sears. Hubby and I looked at one I wanted and it was a great price, something affordable and it will work for us! Praising God in that! Have a good week, my friend.

  2. Yeah, TBI's are not a fun ride – been on this one for 13 years! (Most people don't realize that's Ashley's classification because, well, geesh, how many babies have strokes!?)

    But the rewards are great!

    God's mercies are great!

    And His plan is amazing!

  3. Continuing to pray for Karl – and for those girls to get home from Uganda!! Love you guys. Glad Jubilee is recovering well. Sure missed getting to see you this time. We will be back at Christmas. Love you.

  4. Absolutely -Positively………Karl's name is always on my lips. Praying without ceasing – for everything noted, and for your precious Autumn. I cannot imagine how she is hanging on – except that we know God is supplying her with extra strength. I'm so thankful you were able to meet Denise – how special that is. Bless her heart !! Thanks so much for sharing your picture with us. Praying for sweet Jubilee, Ruby Grace, Sarah Jane – and you and hubby too, of course. Sending my love across the many miles. xoxoxo

  5. PLEASE PRAY for all the wildfires in Texas. Our drought is so severe that more and more are starting all over and high winds and low humidity are making them uncontrollable. There's a huge one in Bastrop, TX that's burned 20,000+ acres and at least 450 homes and it's still spreading. You can see a map of all the fires here:

I can't thank you enough for any prayers lifted up for us! We need them badly!

  6. Hi Linny,
it's beautiful that you got to meet and hug Denise in person 🙂
I will pray for the things you listed for Karl.

Would you be doing a Memorial Box Monday post some time soon? 🙂 (I have an awesome thing to share, it is about the orphans).

  7. We had a "Karl Moment" in our car yesterday. I was driving to church and had to slam on my breaks to avoid an accident. Son's carseat tipped forward and he nearly hit the middle seat (in front of him). His eyes were HUGE. He DID NOT like that experience.

I yelled – Z's carseat isn't buckled in?!?!?!!? Who unbuckled it?

G announced that she had unbuckled it. I went into a whole thing on brain boo-boos and blah, blah, blah Mommy drama to make a point.

When I was done, the same daughter said: "You mean like Karl?" I was confused. "What are you talking about?" G: "You mean Z could get a brain boo-boo like Karl? Then I won't unbuckle his carseat again."

We prayed for Karl in that moment – as a family.

Amazing what a 5 year old takes in…Karl is on her mind!

  8. Oh my, Linny. She reminds me of Hudson's 'angel' in Walmart when he fell off the chair and was bleeding every where. She appeared at the perfect time and helped us. Also a nurse. Her name was Kim. 🙂 She looks so much like Denise. 🙂 Praying for Karl and Autumn…and your precious two girls waiting.

  9. Linny:
So glad you were able to meet the angel who attended to karl.I know what a blessing that must have been. Thanks for the update on Karl. I am remembering him in prayer and will add those to the list.So glad GOd made a plan too for Autumn to be able to be there with him.How are things with Jubilee?
    Leveta
