PICU – Day 1

Ruby had a really good night for a baby who just had brain surgery and is in the PICU hooked to all kinds of machines and monitors and things that beep and alarm.
No doubt ministering angels have been tending
to our little Miss Ruby Grace.
I slept for bits and pieces sitting up next to her bed
{just one more perk to being able to sleep sitting up!}
They are monitoring all kinds of levels…
She has a tube draining from her brain with a monitor that follows the pressure inside her brain and allows them to open at regular intervals to allow pressure to slowly be relieved.
Emma came up with Dw early this morning.
Ruby has been holding onto her with both hands.
I think Ruby’s saying,
“Emmy, Emmy, Emmy!
You were with me non-stop in Africa…
where in the world have you been?
I’ve missed you so and I am NOT letting go!”

  1. I love seeing the chubs on that Ruby of yours!!! What a difference since first photo in Emma's arms!!!

Praying for the angels to continue circling your room!!

    Loving you my friend!

  2. The picture brings tears to my eyes, tears of sadness that any baby would have to endure all of this and tears of joy that she is receiving the care she so desperately needs!!

  3. She looks better already! I have a serious question, which Im sure will make no difference to you, as you love Ruby Grace with all your heart. (and it's personal so I will not take offense if you do not answer), but have you heard anything from the doctors about whether or not her issues could possibly cause mental retardation for Ruby Grace? Or is it too soon to know these answers?

  4. Okay that is seriously the sweetest pictures of Ruby holding on to Emma. What a dear. I feel for her that she has to go through so much (and you and the fam too!) but I know that God is healing up that little girl and doing a great work. Such a testimony in each one of you during this intense season.

2011 has been such an eventful year for you guys. 2012 needs to be full of rest, peace, and no hospital visits.:)

    Praying in Oregon.

  5. I'm glad to hear that Ruby Grace is doing alright. The ministering angels reminds me of Karl, how is he doing? I hope he is steadily getting better and stronger and picking up on things.

  6. It's great to hear that Ruby's surgery went well and she had a good night. She is in my prayers and you are my inspriation as I face surgeries for my daughter in the upcoming year.

  7. Oh Linny, I had no idea you had adopted again, what a sweet little girl! Our daughter was just diagnosed with leukemia last month so I know how much the prayers and comments helped me through, Ruby and your family will be in our prayers. Trish

  8. that picture is soooo sweet. It makes me want to cry!!
    Praying for you guys.
Linny, the joy of the LORD is your strength right now in this time.
    Love you all so much,
    Rose

  9. Oh, sweet, sweet baby girl! How Emmy must love her baby sister!!! It's obviously mutual! 🙂 I love how God calls Miss Ruby Grace to mind at all hours of the day and night…I love praying for her, and all of you as well! Linny…what size is she wearing these days? It's hard to tell. Sometimes she looks tiny, and sometimes bigger…but of course, for her actual age, she is small.
Hugs to you all…can't wait to hear more of the story…and also anxiously waiting to hear about Sarah Jane.

Hugs, prayers and love…Nancy in CT

  10. I am praying constantly for sweet Ruby and your whole family. She is not the only one who is a trooper! I keep trying to think of how our family can bless you guys if you are still in Phoenix when we arrive in a few weeks (we are moving to the area from FL). I don't know your time frame for hospital stay and I certainly hope you are snug at home by the time we arrive, but if not we would love to provide you with some meals and/or help you out in some way. Please let me know by e-mail if there is anything you can think of. Praying for you. Smmclemore@comcast.net. Shelby

  11. Just saved this photo as my screen saver to remind me to pray for Ruby and to Praise God for those beautiful chubby legs and family He blessed her with.

PS, one step closer to my treasure. Immigration document went in the mail today 🙂

  12. What a HUGE difference a few months make!! Ruby Grace looks amazing! She is thriving and I know it's as a result of the prayers and all your love. Praising God for all that He is doing in your precious lil treasure!

  13. The first thing I noticed was Ruby holding on to the hands. She looks so sweet and trusting. Then I read the post. (Sorry, it just felt so good to see she was safe and get details later. ) The bond between Ruby and Emma is so sweet. Glad you have been able to stay with Ruby Grace. Our continued prayers, Sonja

  14. Beautiful Bonding. Love to see her hold tight to those who love her. Her little plumpness is a blessing to see…it is amazing what love and nourishment can do for a baby.
    Keep up the God work.
