Road Trip Fun

Love makin’ memories with the kids….serious discussions, giggly talks, Graham playing the guitar as we sing worship songs crossing the country….and there’s the crazy stuff too.  Familiness.  Love it all.

We are the family made for road trips…no doubt…and we feel sad for those who think car rides are boring – clearly they need to ride a day or two with us!

Everyone is doing fantastic…Ruby loves the closeness of all of us and is thriving….she’s actually making some strides and we couldn’t be more tickled….hopefully we can catch it on video so we can post it to You Tube….

Absolutely love the farm fields of Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania….seriously, there is something that calls to me from those big white farm houses along the road…I imagine the stories they would tell if they could talk…{and yes, I have seen the show “If Walls Could Talk”and that is a pretty amazing thought!}. And although I love Phoenix, there is something about the mid-west and north east that just can’t be beat {don’t worry, you’ll hear me say the same thing about the southern route}…our America is stinkin’ gorgeous, am I right or what?

We have stopped to grab a bite at Chick-fil-A in Erie, PA…logged {so far} just over 2,200 miles on the car odometer and have about 150 miles till ‘home’.

We’ve decided to take the southern route home…not sure what that looks like or when exactly, but you in the southern states may see our van zipping along one of these days…

    1. We are planning on coming to GA before long – I have been asked to speak there twice…so probably one of the times we will bring the entire family! Maybe we will see you??

  1. We are big road trip fans too! In fact, we leave at 6am tomorrow morning and Madi has been bouncing off the walls all day in her excitement to hit the road! Lol. Our road trip snack shopping is done, bags are packed, hotels are booked!… I might be almost as excited as she is! 😉

So glad to hear that you all are having such a wonderful time!

  2. If going south bring you through new jersey, I will stalk your van (in a very Christian way of course) : ) would love to think that our paths could cross!! Safe travels!!

  3. You certainly do have a beautiful country! We just spent our vacation in Wisconsin and travelled through Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. Love the rolling hills and masive oak trees in Wisconsin. The thing that always strikes me most is how patriotic Americans are…flags everywhere…so of coarse my hubby had to buy one for us although we are Canadian…so thankful for our neighboring country! If you're ever up in good ole Saskatchewan be sure to swing by! 🙂

  4. LInny,
We just got back from Our long annual road trip. We live in FL and we drive to Ontario, Canada every summer with our 4 kids and it's the best. We try to break it up every summer by stopping through someplace different, even if it's not on the way. We JUST ate at that chik-Fil-A in Erie! Too bad we didnt bump into each other! 🙂 I've just finished posting all of our pictures from our trip on my blog. Have a look!

  5. Sounds like so much fun 🙂
I am smiling ear to ear to hear the pure joy dripping on your words… you have needed this time I am sure and God is good to look after us and refresh us 🙂 xx

    1. You are so right – we really, really, really needed this time! It feels so good to be sitting here…although all of us older ones have cried over my in-loves not being here, it is so good for our souls to be 'home'….we are voting for Dw's brother to keep the home and allow us to come for an extended visit each summer – it would be so wonderful! PS So glad you got the comments worked out…I've missed you. xo

    1. Be sure you check out the Milton Hershey school! It's a little bit different than the touristy stuff in Hershey, but so worth a stop. He was a wonderful advocate for children. And his legacy continues!

  6. so, probably far fetched, but just in case Arkansas is on the route 😉 We are in Little Rock and would love to offer a break for a treat and to stretch your legs.

  7. Well BUMMER! I am in OK and would have LOVED a chance to meet you and your darlings… 🙂 The "Restore Joplin" shirts are awesome. I ran the Joplin Half Marathon this year and met some truly incredible people during it. I thought I was having a bad day until I heard their stories!
