How in the World Did THAT Happen?

We thought sometime today we would reach the 3,000,000th hit on our Place Called Simplicity.  But to our surprise, there were so many hits over the week-end that last night it rolled around.

Okay, let me back up a speck.
Does anyone remember just shy of a year ago when our Place Called Simplicity went over 2,000,000?  56 people responded that they had been on when it hit 2,000,000.  Clearly something went wrong on Site Meter!
But last night, there was not even ONE email that hit 3,000,000!  There were 10 that hit 2,999,999 and then 3,000,001.  Somehow SiteMeter skipped the entire 3,000,000 thing altogether.  Maybe it was making up for the flub at 2,000,000.  Crazy weird.
Anyway, last year when we hit 2,000,000 it was the day that Emma and I drove to Phoenix to fly to Uganda to bring home our Ruby-girl.  Less than a year later we have finished another million. I am humbled and grateful to the Lord for each of you who stop in at our Place Called Simplicity.  Your love for our family is comforting as together we advocate for the orphan.

I am so grateful that some of you opted to send me an email that you hit the 2,999,999 and 3,000,001 because otherwise I would have wondered what in the world happened?  {Don’t worry, I’m still wondering what happened, but good gracious, that is just so nutso.}  Of course I guess the 3,000,000th could have not even known that there was a contest going on I suppose.  Either way, totally weird.

Without further ado the winner this year {who hit the 2,999,999 and 3,000,001} and responded first was:

Megan {pictured}

Honorable mentions to:
Kerin
Rachel
Candice
Keely
Amy
Beth
Natali
and then there was my own Emma who sent this picture:

And then there was Anna who said that she had the blog open in four screens, trying desperately to hit the 3,000,000th.  It made our family really laugh, Anna.  Good try!

But wait!!  There was one late-comer to my inbox, but lo and behold it had a picture of 3,000,000.
Only thing is that it was from our son Graham.

Hmmmm.  Finding it a bit suspect I remembered an earlier conversation:

Graham:  What do I get if I win?
Me:  You don’t get anything dude.
Graham:  Awww, come on, mom!  I want a date with  you!  Can’t I, at least, get a date with you if I win?
Me:  Graham!  It’s for blog friends, you can’t win.  You’re sitting right beside me.
Graham:  But I want a date with you!
And it was then that we saw him smirking while working hard on his computer. {Photoshop is his friend.}

Nice try kid.  Nice try.

Kind of flattering though that my 17-1/2 year old son wants a date with his silver-haired mama so much so that he would photoshop and email me a picture.  And yes, we will be going on a date this week.

I’d leave a message for Graham on here, but he doesn’t read the blog.  haha.

  1. Okay, how cute is it that Graham wants a date with his mama that he's willing to photoshop a picture? So sweet 🙂
    Happy 3 million, sweet friend! So cool that so many folks love y'all and love the orphan… God is GOOD!!
    oxoxox,

  2. I checked the other day to see how many number were left to go. I hit refresh to see how many numbers it would go down because I wanted to see how many people were getting on the site. It didn't even change. The same number kept coming up. Then I decided to get off the site completely and get back on and the numbers still didn't change. I think Site meter is having some problems.

  3. I've been in the hospital since Saturday and my I-phone doesn't show the side of your site. It was the only way I could access your site, so maybe the 3,000,000 didn't know it was them. Congratulations from Arnold Missouri (near St. Louis)!!!
