Surprise Answers

I know most of you have moved around the country {or world for that matter!}.  So you know what I mean when I say that sometimes it feels like it takes a long while to connect.  I don’t mean just to meet people.

But to just feel connected.

Do you know what I mean?

Well today, was a break through day for me/us.

On many levels.

Too much to explain.

Some things too personal to talk about, at least just yet.

But let’s just say that my heart is joyful at what the Lord is doing and has done.

He is always faithful.

Even when we wonder if He’s been missing what’s going on?  {haha}

Even though I know that I know that I know that He’s working behind the scenes on our behalf, today He showed up big time and our family is kind of giddy {no this does not mean that someone new is coming home or that there is a mystery message in here}.

Just little {and big prayers} that we have been praying as a family since we moved….and today several were answered.

At once.

And they weren’t even prayers that were connected to each other.

Seriously, just whoosh and several answers arrived.

Who knew?

Only Him, because He heard our whispers and cries.

He is so faithful.

But not just to me.

He is faithful to you.

Keep plugging away.

He’s working on your behalf too.

Even if it seems like the sun is setting.

He’s still working.

He always works the night shift for you, too.

No matter what.

And He will show up, likely when you least expect it, cause He loves surprises!

  1. I really appreciate this post Linny. We were informed this week that out foster child that we are in the process of adoptiong may be returned to her biological parent because a social worker failed to do paperwork for 10 months straight! We are fervently praying, praying, praying that God will work on her behalf. It would not be in her best interest to send her into the situation, not only for safety reasons, but she is almost two and has never even met this person. We are her family, and she doesn't know anyone else. God is faithful.

  2. I have never fasted before, I look forward to reading the link and probably fasting with others this Tuesday. We are beginning our adoption from the DRC, and we need God to move some big mountains! I have a question for you though, do you have something specific that you do in your quiet time with the Lord? Do you choose a different study? Do you do the 1 year bible? What is your preferred method? Thanks!

    1. I read through the Bible each year. It is amazing what comes to life even after reading it through many, many times. Every now and then I divert if I am going through a particular struggle, but usually just the daily reading and then a reading in Streams in the Desert by Mrs. Robert E. Cowan. Amazing stuff. Always seems to be reading my mail! Get a copy {long out of print} but often found on web sites or in thrift stores.

  3. Always feel disconnected from people where we live…No friends where we live now, even when we attended a church….Been praying for over 20 yrs. for something specific and still nothing…I love your posts and they are encouraging, but I still don't think the Lord will ever do anything in my family's life…Our family is a big mess and the more I pray, the worse it gets….I pray for others and answers are there, but not for our family…
So, with that said, I need a ton of prayer….

    1. Oh my sweet friend Sandy!! Please, please, please post a prayer request tomorrow and please send a request to the Knee Team. They would love to pray for you. There is HOPE. Promise. He is ALWAYS faithful. ALWAYS. And if you are not seeing results, fast, fast, fast…and ask Him: "What do you want me to learn from this situation? How do I become more like you in the midst of this mess?" Draw near to him and he WILL draw near to you. His promise.

  4. Thanks Linny. Lots of upheaval in my family – siblings, parents – and as much as I want to fix it I can't. Heard a Sunday School lesson last week that continues to resonate – if you aren't praying about it, you are trying to do it yourself. Feeling encouraged by your post! And yes, another lurker comes out!

  5. We have felt bombarded over the last two years. Not really one big horrible thing, but SEVERAL little things that just add up to despair (sometimes.) I have been in a really bad place (mentally, emotionally, sometimes spiritually) at times over the last two years. I've prayed. And I've wondered. I've even asked, "God, why do you hate me?" Well, in the last month or ever few weeks, things have been coming together and working out, and God has been answering a bunch of little prayers. I feel positive right now (probably the most positive that I've been in the last two years.) And I can finally say that, yes, God is faithful. Not just to Linny, not just to the positive people of the world, not just to some, but He is faithful to me! There are still more prayers that need to be answered, but at least the burden seems lighter these days. 🙂

  6. There are some big prayers deep in my heart that I still wait to know what the outcome will be. But when my faith was flagging and it just seemed like I'd lost the connecting, He showed up……bringing toilet paper, a half gallon of milk, and a violin……all specific things. The first two had been something I'd been worrying about, and He provided in such funny ways. The second was one I didn't even begin to have faith that He would use me to provide it for another, but He provided it nearly instantaneously. He really is at work in my life….even when it seems like He must have moved on to someone easier to parent.

  7. Oh, Linny, so TRUE! God just shows up in such interesting ways sometimes. There were some trees on our property that had died due to the drought and were at risk of falling on our shop. My husband could not cut them alone due to the risk and we could not afford to rent the equipment or pay someone to do it for us. I have spent much time in prayer lately asking God for a blessing because we are struggling financially because my husband's hours have been cut and the price of EVERYTHING else has gone up. Guess what…our neighbors saw my husband outside looking at the dead trees and asked him if he needed them cut. He said yes he was trying to figure out how to do it (he is the type willing to help everyone else but will not ask for help himself.) The neighbors said "we'll be right back" and in a few minutes came with the equipment needed to do the job. It was done in minutes. They refused any pay. Wow! God answered my prayer for sure. And, it was certainly not in a way I had expected.
