PS

Okay, so this is hysterical after what I just posted yesterday.

Ruby, Emma and I had to go to the other side of the city to pick up something.

Liberty and Graham had gone to a youth group mega-gathering….

So Dw, Jubilee, Nehemiah, Isaiah, Elizabeth and Elijah went to do a bit of shopping of their own…

and of all things….

Dw turned around and caught a woman taking a picture of him and the kids…

He said, “Ummm, were you just taking a picture of us?”

She started to laugh…

BUSTED.

We so totally gotta’ get a bag of candy.

Gotta.

Tomorrow…

  1. I often wonder if where you live makes it even more "obvious" you are an adoptive family. I live in California and while I can't say there wouldn't be stares, I can't help but wondering if there would be less, since there's all kinds of combos of people around here.

However, I wish I was there when you were doing your "parade". It would be so much fun to see! Keep us posted.

    1. I do think it makes a difference where you live. I also think that culture has lended itself to {at times} unkindness toward those who are 'different". Either way, we had some mighty fun giggling through out it and then when Emma said that – it was hysterical laughs!

  2. My extremely tall, extremely blonde niece went to Southern Indian with me to adopt my youngest daughter. We had people follow us everywhere we went to gawk at her, and we saw people taking her picture a bunch of times. It was so weird. I guess when people see someone who isn't what they are used to, you become fair game.

    1. That's how it was in China with my Emma when we were there for Isaiah. She looks like some famous young actress I guess…we don't know who, but some thought it was her. It was crazy!

  3. That reminds me of how my hubby once dealt with one old ladies stares. We live in a highly populated conservative Mennonite community, and although we only have 2 adopted kids, the stares are there non the less. Martin was sitting in a restaraunt with our girls and one older lady could not help but stare…literally turning around completely…Eventually Martin had enough and gave the sweet gal the biggest wink ever! Yup she quit staring! lol!

    1. Marie, that is THE BEST I have heard!! Please tell your Martin that I laughed out loud and wish I could have seen it for myself. I probably would have wet my pants laughing so hard!
