First We Have To…

“Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever.”
2 Chronicles 20:21

As they prepared for battle, Almighty God told the Israelites to sing and praise Him for the splendor of his holiness….

No matter what, He is always worthy to be praised....

No

Matter

What

And trust me, there have been days when I definitely don’t “feel” like praising Him….but that’s the *secret*…praising Him even when we don’t feel like it….

So with that in mind…Please, would you consider, before sharing a prayer request, please consider leaving a word of praise, thankfulness or scripture on THIS post so that our praise would create a sweet  fragrance and many will be encouraged by your example of praise….

  1. "For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD." Psalm 117:2

Although we could have painfully lived for ages with the consequences of our mistake of buying a house not suited to our family…I am humbled at Almighty God's response in allowing our home to sell after only 20 showings…and that it sold and closed….I praise Him for showing us such love and mercy…Thank you Lord…we will not forget your kindnesses toward us…

  2. "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17

I am so thankful for the way God is patient with me and continues to teach me daily about trusting him, even when I'm soooo slow. I praise him for being the giver of good gifts, and even though I deserve none, He has blessed me time and time again. Thank you, Lord, for never changing and being a rock in times of uncertainty. You are so good, and your love endures forever!

  3. Thank our God for He has blessed us beyond words.
Thank Him for family and for His great love towards us.
Thank God that He is going to heal me, even when that
seems impossible. Thank God for His words and promises.
Praise His Holy Name. Let's worship Him together because
He is our God and He is willing and able to forgive all
our sins. THANKS BE TO HIM!
    Jane

  4. I am thankful to God for being the solid rock on which I stand, for his mercies renewed every morning in my life, for carrying me and my family through the most difficult times, for peace.

I am thankful to God for the gift of life, and for the opportunity to live our lives in such a way that we show everyone his love.

Above all, I am grateful to God for loving us.

  5. My life is almost unrecognizable, compared to 7 years ago. Only God. To show such love and patience with my repeated slowness, stubborness, and sin. I have a family now, and have PA for a new addition, and I can see, so clearly, GOD in every single moment. Thank You, Lord, for loving me so much. I am SO grateful.

    1. Janet looking forward to seeing how your adventure unfolds!

Linny and Janet, thank you for continuing to pray for my boy. Husband and I are packing up and getting ready to fly home to California to spend Jesus birthday with our kids. First it will be Northern California to spend 3 days with my husband's daughter, then we'll drive down the coast to Southern California and spend Christmas with our grandbabies. We haven't been home for Christmas since 2009. The enemy is hard at work…of course, isn't that how that snot works? My husband did not include Brock in the kids Christmas evenvelopes, it slipped his mind. He said "you never see or hear from him" that's EXACTLY what the enemy wants me to think. Well, Brock's envelope is sealed and ready to travel with us!

God is good and His timing is the best!

      Blessings,
      Suzanne

  6. I am thankful that God loves me and the orphans and provides for them families, that they become OUR blessings, to treasure, parent, learn from, grow in HIM. That God never gave up on ME. Our prayer request is funding for our adoption, trying to travel in 2-3 weeks with a huge lack of funds. BUT He will provide. We trust in Him.

  7. "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
We love you Jesus and are so thankful that you delight in each one of us!

  8. GOD IS SO GOOD!! THANK YOU JESUS, BROCK WAVED TO HIS BIG BROTHER LAST WEEK! AND, JUST YESTERDAY, MY EX-THE BOYS' DAD WAVED TO JUSTIN, OUR OLDEST BOY!! Brian has not spoken or acknowledged Justin in over 4 years. They live and work in the same small town so they see each other in passing often. Brian has never met our two grandbabies and Brock has never met his 8 month old nephew. Oh how sweet this is, the walls are starting to tumble, brick by brick.

Praying for a Christmas miracle, that I am able to hug my youngest boy Brock and tell him I love him. I have not heard his voice or seen him up close in over 3 years.

Blessings to all as we storm the gates of heaven today for one another!

    Suzanne

    1. Suzanne, we have faithfully prayed for years for the breaking of the walls…as I read your praise I my eyes welled with tears…Faithful, faithful, faithful God – clearly working behind the scenes…softening hearts – how we praise Him with you and continue to pray for a full restoration of these relationships!!

  9. "The Lord has filled me with gladness more than when the wine and new grain abound" I am filled with gladness because God is faithful. His yes is yes and His no is no. He fulfills all his promises. I am filled with gladness because God is good and His will is good and perfect and complete and on time. I am filled with gladness because He will never leave me and He will never forsake me

  10. I am so thankful to you God that you keep showing me that you are Faithful! You are everything that we need you to be all of the time! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Your Kingdom's Work!!

  11. "I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning." Psalm 30:1-5

Thank you Lord for the many blessings you have bestowed upon me. Thank you for my health, my children, my husband, the Church, and your mercy. Praise Your Holy Name!

  12. Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Rejoice always pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us.
Thank You for always loving and protecting me and my littles and always providing. Your eyes are on the sparrow. Thankyou for your forgiveness and never ending love. Lori

  13. When our dossier was lost – completely mis-delivered to an abandoned house the Lord sent a willfully driven Fedex worker to hunt it down for us. We were at such a loss and really felt we had to begin starting over again, delaying our court date and delaying the homecoming of our SN daughter from Ethiopia. After a fast prayer request, and a night of meditation- our dossier was found, slightly damp at an abandoned house, but in tact!!! We were/are so so thankful and amazed. We are also thankful and amazed at the geneoristy of a fellow/former church member who is offering us his wonderful property and house for which to move our family. It would be easiest for him to sell it fast- but he is offering us an incredibly generou lease-option, with 100% of our payments going to the principal, with the option to close in early/mid 2014!! We are so amazed and thankful for this man
At this time we pray for our sons to help develop a deeper bond with one another and for some clue as to what school/prgram will help our youngest who is dealing with significant issues from Sensory Processing Disorder that affect his behavior. We pray for the right teacher/program to help him and a deeper bond between brothers.
    Amen

  14. I sang hymns of praise for about 40 minutes before going to bed last. It's the best sleep I've had in weeks. I praise God for healing of my son. We're just waiting to see it with our eyes. God is so faithful even when we are not.

  15. I praise the Lord for his UNFAILING love and his mercies that are new every morning. His faithfulness to me, humbles me daily. His provision astounds me. He gives good gifts to his children. Me makes ALL things work together for GOOD!

  16. Father, I praise You for your grace and mercy. Thank you Father, that your timing is perfect. I've seen you provide over and over, yet I doubt at times. Even then, You still show your awesomeness to me by providing again, despite my worry. Thank you Father!!!

  17. Praising Him for who He is and what He has done.
"To console those who mourn in Zion. To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness: that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." Is. 61:3

  18. Praising God always for His grace which I don't deserve but have daily because of His love and the cross. Asking for prayer for my 19 year old son who has Asperger Syndrome and lives a life that is socially impaired. I'm one of those moms that worries his son will never be able to function normally. My heart goes out to the moms of the kids who grow up and don't fit in and become violent or have some other terrible or odd behavior. A neurological disorder like autism hurts so deeply.

  19. God is good, all the time! His plans are so much greater than we can ever imagine. Thanking God that my fourth adoption will be finalized this week! Never in my wildest dreams did I think my life would be where it is with all the blessings in it.

  20. Praise the Lord for being our Provider. Thank you, Lord, for being a father to the fatherless – for being my Father and for being my children's Father.

I am a single mom to three treasures who were born in China. I am seeking employment right now and I am thankful that the Lord has protected me from the unknown in jobs that I did not get. I pray that He will provide the right job at the right time for me and my family.

  21. Thankful for today, for the people God has placed in our lives to fill the gaps, for the blessings he continues to pour out on me and my family through the hard and for the unknown story he has planned for us as we step out in complete faith. Thankful for DW, Linny, and their precious family. Thankful for all who will be fasting and praying tomorrow.

  22. Thankful for God giving us a clear calling to adopt. Thankful that He works all things for good to those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.

  23. Today is the culmination of 13 months of unbelievable mountains, walking thru, no trying to run thru the evil one's domain to save three precious baby brothers. My God is mighty beyond measure. Today we will stand before the judge and the adoption process will be complete, for these three precious baby boys will be in their forever family. I can't wait to see what my God has for these precious baby boys. The battle was painful, many doubts about if this is truly the family God had chosen for them. Deep down we knew they were to be in our family. Every time our daughter and son in love would throw out a fleece God would consistently clear the path. So faithfully, literally one step at a time, they went on thru the process. Today at 9:00 AM PST these precious baby boys will be OURS. With tears of thanksgiving I will be their forever Ya-Yah. They will be able to experience at the most basic level how much they are loved and cherished. Not only by their Ya-Yah but more importantly by their God, their Messiah.

  24. I'll be praying even though I have a day of "dashing around".
I'm thankful that God is always there for us to cling to and lean on. I know that sounds like a generic praise item, but it has literally been my strength in the past few months.

  25. "You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, His generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just pours out into eternity. Yes." Philippians 4:19-20 – The Message

Praying that the Lord will provide for a big, sometimes seemingly impossible need that I face. Mostly praying that He would fill me with His peace and joy as I wait on His timing. I will worship while I am waiting!

  26. Thank you Lord for blessing me with a dear friend who has loved me, encouraged me and taught me more than she will ever know. We give thanks for Joel's overnight healing and the HS in our lives. We give thanks for your faithfulness and patience, and your perfect love that casts out fear. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins and all our diseeases. Thank you that we can come to you today and trust that you will do what is best for us..because you love us.

  27. For me my day is coming to an end, but I have been praying and fasting all day! Today I am praising God for all of the boys that He has brought off of the streets of Kampala and into our homes! I am also praising God because He provided above and beyond what I expected for a medical clinic for the street boys. Our God is so faithful!

  28. Two months ago I got on a plane, ALONE, headed for Ethiopia to pick up our baby girl. I spent a week with a very sick baby and God protected both of us! By the time it was time to leave, she was MUCH better and we made it home:)! Her transition into our family has been perfectly seamless, and we have bonded beyond all my hopes and expectations!! Compared to our last adoption, this is the biggest praise of all! HE.IS.FAITHFUL!

  29. Praising God that in the midst of a scary move far from family and friends, He has been so faithful to provide for my husband and I in every way. Thankful of the reminder that HE alone is all we need. Thankful for possible job opportunities that have been opening up. And SO thankful that He has provided a new church home for us.

  30. Thank you Lord Jesus for bringing me the perfect man when at the age of 46 I had long given up. I'm so grateful that I get to marry him in 18 days. I'm also grateful that although I was prepared to adopt alone that God has brought me a partner for that as well.

  31. God, I praise you for being the Alpha, Omega, the Beginning and the End. You are my rock and without You, I would be in utter despair. Thank you for the job you've provided me with in this transition period, and thank You for being so faithful.

  32. One month ago, we were told the doctors were almost certain our son had a progressive, degenerative disease. We were devastated.
We got the word 2 weeks ago that they were wrong!
Faithful Lord, how can I thank you enough for healing my son! Your love endures forever! How great is your name! Holy one, mighty one!

  33. Praising the Lord for His beautiful day today, blue sky (love the colour that He picked for the sky! 🙂
I want to give praise to the Lord for the beautiful wedding that Chuck and I had last month, everything came together smoothly and He has blessed me by having my mother there with me 🙂

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2Corinthians 4:18)

Thanking Him for the hope of a much better, beautiful life with Him.

  34. It's been 4 1/2 months since my younger brother Noah was killed by a distracted driver on his way to work. Some of you probably prayed for our family, and I want to say again how grateful I am for those prayers. This is a praise related to Noah, and God's faithfulness in answering my family's prayer. We grieved privately together that he was taken so young – that he would be forgotten somehow. We prayed for the Lord to use Noah's life to glorify Himself, and that he would allow us to see HIS hand working.

Our family found out in the late part of October that there was a new main gate being built at the base where Noah was stationed, placed on the road he was killed on, and that it was going to be dedicated and named in his honor. (This was HUGE, Noah was not a high rank, and hadn't had time to garner a lifetime of awards and achievements.) We were blown away – what an answer to prayer. The steps required to make that dedication happen should not have been completed so quickly – only GOD working on people's hearts can move things that fast through military red tape.

But it gets better. We found out that every single day at every single shift change there is a Post Report spoken.

    This is how it starts:
""This is the Airman First Class Noah D. Muonio Gate. It is named after
Airman First Class Muonio, a native of Saint Francis, Minnesota, who proudly
served at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a NASIC Remote Sensing Analyst.
On the night of 4 August 2012, Airman First Class Muonio was riding his
bicycle to work when a distracted driver crossed the solid white line onto
the shoulder and fatally struck him from behind. This gate has been named
after Airman First Class Noah D. Muonio to ensure he is never forgotten."

Not just a Gate with his name on it. His name is and will continue to be SPOKEN multiple times a day to ENSURE HE IS NEVER FORGOTTEN. God truly is in all the details, and answers our prayers in ways we can't even imagine. Praise Him with me!!♥

    1. Ab,
I sit here with tears streaming down my face reading your Praise. Your brother's death hit me hard even though I never had the privilege of knowing him. I am so grateful that God has moved on hearts {and so quickly too} to keep the memory of Noah alive…day in and day out…amazing, amazing, amazing. Only Faithful God. May His perfect peace continue to minister to your family…I know it has to be such a difficult time…With love and continued prayers from Phoenix…~L

    2. I am also crying as I read this. We are a MN family who was stationed at WPAFB before, and it is near my parents house, so we go there when we are home visiting. i will remember to oray for your family whenever we drive on base there.

    3. Beccy, if you are on base, you might see the ghost bike someone placed in Noah's memory just a few hundred feet from the accident site. (Another unexpected blessing from the Lord, we still don't know who took the time to prepare and place that bike in his honor, but it was a comfort to our hearts.) A piece of our heart will forever live at WPAFB.

Thank you both (Beccy and Linny) for continuing to pray for our family, we need the prayers.

  35. The LORD is my strength and my song;
    he has become my salvation.
    Glad songs of salvation
are in the tents of the righteous:
“The right hand of the LORD does valiantly,
the right hand of the LORD exalts,
the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!”
I shall not die, but I shall live,
and recount the deeds of the LORD. Psalm 118:14-17

Amen & Amen! God, You are faithful beyond measure!

  36. Praise be…..It was one year ago today that we met our son for the first time. Just shy of his first birthday, on the porch of an Ethiopian transition house we held him and felt our world really change. And we got to stay long enough for his first birthday. We are so grateful for many things in these days. Our Solomon is just the beginning….

  37. Praising God for his faithfulness to our family and our marriage through difficult times, and His guidance as we begin a new chapter. Our family verse is Psalm 126:3 "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with Joy". In difficult times, we meditate on the great things the Lord has done and is doing, because He never, ever changes, even when our circumstances seem bleak.

  38. I had to opportunity to hold my sobbing 5 year old on Sunday, she was so very afraid to sing Christmas songs on stage at church. I got to hold her and comfort her. She needed me and turns out I needed her, we cried together for a bit. Then I got to sing worship music with my sweet girl all snuggled in my lap. Thank you God that I get to be her mommy. Thank you for giving my family and all I need.

  39. Today I am ever so thankful for so many things. I am thankful for the person who started the process for what we now know as FMLA. I have a medically fragile child and have been absent from work some this winter due to his sickness. And have been able to take the days off with no consequence. I am also thankful that although I do have a medically fragile child that we have never had to admit him to the hospital. I am thankful for a hard working husband who loves us, I am thankful that even though my dear hubby is mad at God, that he still treats us amazing. I am thankful for my daughter who is a little spit-fire. And I am thankful for this blog and how on days when I don't feel like living like the bible is true, Linny does an amazing job of turning us all back to the cross.

  40. Thank you Lord for being so faithful. Thank you for working behing the scenes. Thank you that you love us inspite of all of our weaknesses. Thank you that you promise you will complete the work you started in us!!

  41. Thank You, Father, for providing for our financial needs this Christmas! Thank You for our precious children and my good, faithful husband! Thank You for providing for our children's special needs!

  42. "For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NASB)
Even when I ignore Him, He is still waiting and still active and still faithful and still has never left my side.

  43. Thank you, Lord, for being faithful and seeing us through our last family crisis/spiritual warfare. What was meant for evil, You turned into good. Our 9 yo daughter is now spiritually stronger and has learned to run to you in prayer and worship to ward off the spirit of anger. Thank you, Lord, for answering my prayers about this the last time we fasted and prayed together. You did a miraculous healing then and today I'm putting my trust in you for another miraculous healing for another one of my children who is being attacked by debilitating OCD/anxiety. More on that later. Now is a time to thank you and praise you for all you have done for us. Thank you for a wonderful, supportive husband who provides financial and emotional support in the trenches. Thank you, Lord, for the good days of joy and laughter. Thank you for helping me with all the stressful Christmas and traveling plans. Thank you for showing me that you care and your Word that reassures me that with You ALL things are possible. You are worthy of all praise because you do all things perfectly. Only You can take evil and turn it into good for Your glory. You are amazing, powerful, and in control. I will trust in You!

  44. Praising Him today for the simple blessings that I too often take for granted – family, shelter, food, health. Thankful for the true meaning of Christmas as well – that God entered in to fallen humanity. That He cares enough, not to leave us where we are.

  45. Today I'm praising God for the sweet friends He's blessed me with that are always there with a word of encouragement and brighten each day with their joy. I'm forever thankful!!! Also for the fact that His promises endure forever, and He just fills me with hope no matter what we're facing.

  46. I'm thankful for an unexpected gift of money that allowed us to get a Christmas tree for our little boy who was dearly wanting one. And I'm thankful for the roast I've been saving in our freezer that will be our Christmas dinner since there wasn't an affordable deal on turkeys this year.

  47. Hello, Linny and bloggy friends! :)I am so thankful to my Faithful God for providing for us. We needed some money for the party we were planning for Girl Talk (our girls group) and were waiting to see what God would do. We were out at our store, which was highly unusual for us on Sunday afternoon. A man stopped and called through the window that he had a christmas present for me and my sisters. He gave us $60!!! Which was more than enough to cover everything. I was just amazed at how God works- our God is so unlimited- he can get a random guy driving down the highway to stop and give. Why do I ever worry about money? 🙂 Faithful God- thank you so much! Annalisa

  48. Praise. The sweet 5 year old blind boy I have been advocating for has a wonderful Christian family working towards adopting him! God sets the lonely in families.

  49. Thank you for the reminder to praise Him. Walking forward, we don't always realize what we can see clearly when we look back. I'm so grateful for a God who changes hearts! From my dh saying yes to adoption, twice, after previously saying no, to Him softening the heart of one of my sons that I used to be so worried about. I see beautiful changes. And I know that as we've been on our adoption journey, He has changed MY heart tremendously, too. We have the privilege of hosting local kids in need through Safe Families For Children, and I am so honored that God uses us this way. When we decided to adopt in 2008, we did NOT want to foster. Once again, changed hearts.

  50. 10 years ago today I became a mother. My oldest son is ten today! God granted me the desire of my heart after a difficult struggle with infertility. From the time I was a little girl all I really wanted to be was a mother and I am praising God today for a decade of motherhood and the (now) four boys who bless my life and our home.

    Psalm 113
    Praise the Lord.
Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?
    He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes, with the princes of their people.
He settles the barren woman in her home as the happy mother of children.
    Praise the LORD.

  51. I praise God that even in my families struggle of not having enough to make ends meet that God declares "For I know the plans I have for you,…“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I have hope in the future of being reunited with my family again.

  52. I'm loving and thanking God today even though our house burned down on Black Friday, we are dealing with DHS drama as foster parents, and my mom passed away on Saturday. We also lost 5 of our dogs. My heart is more than a little broken and I don't understand why me but I know we have a loving and faithful and restorative God.

    Amen

  53. Thank you Father that you have always provided for my needs. When I wasn't aware of you, when you know I didn't deserve it, when I doubted and feared, when I was angry. Your Grace IS sufficient. Your Faithfulness is always before me.

  54. I am thankful for my husband who loves me and for my job. I am also thankful for safe travels over the weekend and for coworkers on my flights so I did not have to travel by myself.

  55. Therefore be careful how you walk… always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father… (from Ephesians 5)

In light of this verse, I choose to thank God for suffering. I certainly don't feel like thanking him for it, and sometimes it feels a little insane, but suffering is part of "all things". So I choose to thank him for it, and for the glimpse it gives me of what I truly deserve and also of how blessed I am that he does not abandon me to the hell I deserve.

I praise God that a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.

  56. Dear Father in Heaven, I thank you today for being raised by loving, Christian parents and grandparents who realized the importance of taking me to church and Christian activities all the time when I was young. I didn't always realize how important that was. Now, I do. Thank you Father for leading me to fall in love with a Christian man I would have never imagined myself marrying, but you knew it was going to be a wonderful thing. You made sure our paths crossed at just the right time. Thank you for letting me be a mother and grandmother so that I have gotten to enjoy knowing the unending love I have experienced. I thank you Father that I still have my parents. I am blessed! Thank you for the new minister and his family who have recently joined our congregation. I think you have big plans for us.

Father,I have been a witness just lately of a lot of generousity from people who have reached out to help children in need. For that, I am so thankful.

Most of all Father, I am thankful for your son Jesus who gave his life so that I may have eternal salvation and roam the streets of gold in eternal bliss. It is in his name I offer this prayer. Amen

  57. I am praising Him for His provision. Yesterday I left a comment, but in reading over previous comments found a family close to travel, but lacking funds. Being in the midst of an adoption ourselves, I know how frustrating this can be. We don't have much spare funds, but thought hey, I can give $20. Well, I did and then this morning God blessed us with over 10x's an increase!! God is so good and worthy to be praised!!!!
