Out of 2,500 People

I had the privilege of hearing an amazing story the other day.  It still has me shaking my head and smiling and giggling.   You are gonna’ love it.

Our amazing God.

He cares.

He works behind the scenes.

And He does it in extremely extraordinary ways!

Why does He do that?

Well, I’m guessin’ it has something to do with the fact that then we can ONLY give Him the credit…cause it could never, ever happen without His divine orchestration!

Seriously!!!

So here’s what happened:

My Abi called me the other day to say that there was a young woman trying to get ahold of me.

I jotted down her phone number and a day or so later I was able to call her.

As it turns out, she lives in Virginia and her mom had occasionally attended the church we pastored there.  So this young woman, who I’ll call “C”, had in a round about way heard about Abi flying out to Virginia to do a friend’s wedding.  {If you are new to hanging around here, Abi has a very successful photography business and flies around the country to do photo shoots and weddings, etc.}

C had been online looking at Abi’s site and in turn came across Emma’s blog.  Now, since C was a young girl she has felt a calling toward Uganda.  When she found Emma’s blog, she was more than intrigued!

She wanted to get involved and help raise funds for the treasures that Emma currently serves and will be serving in the future!

So C started to pray, “I think this the ministry to help with.  But would you give me a clear sign?”  She told me that she prayed hard.  She even fasted.  Yet, she did not hear a word.  She said that she began to feel frustrated and finally said, “Lord, I have fasted and prayed, yet you have been silent.  What’s going on?”

About that time, one of her machines broke where she works.  She needed to call in to the company and have someone walk through the process of fixing it over the phone.   The center that she called has 2,500 people working in it.  So the woman who answered was just one of the 2,500 employees.

C said that the woman was so helpful and so easy to talk to.  They had a great conversation as they worked through the steps of fixing this broken machine over the phone.  The woman was such a blessing to C.  Eventually it was time to re-boot the machine.  While the machine re-booted, C asked the woman, “Your accent is so pretty, where is it from?”  The woman responded, “I am from Uganda!”  C almost fell over!

She knew God was working!

But wait, it gets even better!!

“Uganda?  Really?  Uganda?”

“Yes, I am from Kampala, Uganda.”

C went on to tell her that she had been praying for a sign from the Lord about getting involved in the  ministry of a young woman who had just moved to Uganda.

Before C could go any further the woman responded, “That’s funny.  Just the other day I was online and came across a young woman who has just moved to Uganda.  Her name is Emma.  What is the name of the young woman you are talking about?”

Yes indeed!

This woman from Uganda, had already heard of Emma and been on her blog!

Can you believe it?

I am still shaking my head!

What are the odds that in our big ol’ United States, a woman in Virginia with a broken machine, calls a call-center in California with 2,500 employees and ‘randomly’ gets the ONE employee who is from Uganda…and then that ONE employee is not only from Uganda, but has been on Emma’s blog?

Faithful God.

Reminding this silver-haired Mom of Many that He is on the throne, He is working behind the scenes and He definitely has Emma’s back.

And He is still on the throne, He is working behind the scenes on YOUR behalf and He definitely has YOUR back.

Rejoice with me!

Faithful God.

Always.

For you and for me.

“What, then, shall we say in response to this?
If God is for us, who can be against us?”

  1. I love this! Someday very soon, I'd like to send you a private facebook message. Sincerely, God did this very thing to me recently! It's a know that you know kind of thing. This just further confirms it for me. Thanks for this post.

    1. You worded it perfectly!! He is sooooo much bigger than we ever give Him credit for – we doubt so easily – and L@@K what He is more than able to accomplish – what a reminder to ALL of us!

  2. Linny! I had complete and total chills reading that! That is so awesome! I love when God gives us clear signs. When I began considering adopting from the Philippines, I was still waiting to hear from God and asked for a sign to make sure I wasn't doing my own thing….I had to ask my pastor if he would be willing to write a reference letter for me and he said he would. That day the sermon was a telecast and to be honest…I was sort of fading in and out…BUT then the telecast pastor said that he and his wife had supported missions….guess where? The Philippines. Out of any country he could have told us that he supported a mission program in….it was indeed the Philippines! Praise God!!

  3. What a gift! I keep thinking about Emma and the gift she is being given and is giving. The chance to stand on your shoulders is such a gift to her and I can't wait to see what's to come for her gifts to others. Faithful God!

    1. I wrote to Emma and was telling her how proud I was of her and how beautiful it is to this mama's heart that I have a front row seat for all that God is doing…such a tremendous joy!! And that the internet ables us to share it all with others – sooo cool!

  4. Such encouragement today! We are definitely in need of our "behind the scenes" God to work on our behalf – this delay of ours has moved to 3 almost 4 weeks of NOTHING and we need to get our baby HOME! Thanks for sharing.

  5. Oh Linny I am in tears right now for two reasons. First really what are the odds absolutely amazing! The other I NEEDED TO HEAR YOUR WORDS AT THE END. I am facing possible health issues that scare me to death. I needed to be reminded God has my back. I have not been reading blogs for a while and at work today just decided to read. Thank you God knew I needed this. Doesn't mean I'm still not scared but reminded me of what I need to focus on more.

    1. Listen sweet friend – He completely HAS YOUR BACK!! The story is one we can take to the bank – He shows us His power as details go completely 'against the odds'. Amazing! Praying for His healing touch on your life right now.

  6. Absolutely amazing!! God is SO good!! I am so thankful that He always has our backs and is working behind the scenes for us!! Praying for Emma!

  7. Oh my goodness! Tears and goosebumps here!

God is so faithful and caring about each and every detail… Thanks for sharing. 🙂 How blessed that "C" got her confirmation, and You, as Mama, received affirmation that "God has Emma's back." Wonderful!

    1. It definitely confirmed in my heart of hearts that the God of the Universe, who called Emma when she was just 6 years old…is on the throne and He has her back and has every detailed worked out already!! xo

  8. Rejoicing with you! 🙂 🙂

He knows that your momma's heart needs to know that He's got your daughter under His care 🙂

    And what you shared,
And He is still on the throne, He is working behind the scenes on YOUR behalf and He definitely has YOUR back.

I have an amazing testimony to share!!!! I hope to share it on the next MBM if the Lord leds you.

    and to what you said,

"What, then, shall we say in response to this?
If God is for us, who can be against us?"
    Romans 8:31

    Amen, amen, AMEN! 🙂 🙂

    1. Oh my friend, you are so right! He knows that I needed that story more probably then anyone else. He has her back. He is trustworthy!! I will have a MBM soon, perhaps tomorrow. xo

  9. Wow, this story is so moving! I have been struggling with the whole "waiting" part of prayer. Praying is easy, thanking God for His answers is easy, waiting and not knowing if He already has answered and I just missed it is hard. Reading about C waiting for her "sign" and not hearing a response, then talking with this one woman who is from Uganda and is acquainted with Emma through Emma's blog — just renewed my commitment to pray in expectation of **hearing from God**. Thank you for sharing this story!

    1. He wants you to *feel* His presence, but whether you *feel* it or not, my sweet friend, He IS there. Try this approach – THANK HIM for His presence. Thank Him and praise Him. He IS there and He has YOUR back. Promise!

  10. What a wonderful reminder for me to read tonight. We have been waiting upon God's timing for our adoption with Honduras (started the process Feb. 2011). I know that God has His plan for our journey to our daughter, even though the wait is longer than we expected we are trusting in Him. It was still a great reminder to read. Thank you!
