It’s My Turn

I have this blog friend named Martha.
She lives in the Southeast and for years she tormented me.
Every February/March she would post pictures of flowers growing
in her yard.
Beautiful flowers.
Brilliant in color.
Splendidly blooming.
Plentiful.
And every year, about the time she would post them,
I would look out my window and see the snow blowing across the
front pastures.
I wrote to my friend and told her how mean she was.
And how hard I was trying not to envy.
*smile*
And my heart would long for warmth.
For flip flops.
Shorts.
Sunny, hot days.
And now it is finally{!} my turn….
My flowering bushes in our new yard!!
My heart sings for joy…
I look out my window and see the bouganvillia…
and we gather up Ruby’s seizure kit because
a walk to the park is in the plan for us today
and I have shorts on
{ and it’s March 11th}

And to my sweet friend Martha,
It’s finally ‘my turn’….
Sending love and warmth from the beautiful desert…

  1. Oh you sweet thing! I love love your photos of the flowers in your yard. The only thing better would be to be there and see them live and in person. But the thing better than that would be to see YOU live and in person and get my fill of hugs from all the littles. I haven't posted any pretty flower pics this year yet so you definitely beat me to the draw. I know you are enjoying the weather there. i can only imagine. We were warm here today but it was a dark dreary day with heavy rains expected tonight. Maybe that will give the buds a push to open up and I can send you some pics. Love you sweet friend. One of these days, I'm coming to get my hugs from the Saunders bigs and littles. ~Martha.

    1. One day we will hug in real life. And yes, I am so tickled that I finally have flowers. I will never forget the first time I saw you post yours {years ago I think, I think it was in the log home before our fire??} And I looked out the window and there was a blustery snowstorm going on..ugh. I remember *wishing* in the worst way…for flowers…finally, it's my turn.

  2. Beautiful flowers! Oh, the glorious cry of Spring! My 6 year old has been literally leaping in circles through our fields singing, "Spring is here. Spring is here. Spring is here." …over and over again.

Oh the beauty in children, and a new season! Blessings!

  3. Wow – we just had the last of the snow melt – and have more in the forecast for tonight – but just flurries. Still – we're seeing crocus (I think) try to stick their heads up – but won't have flowers for a week or more!

    hugs – aus and co.

    1. I remember you are in the north'ish'…{Ohio? perhaps?} …flurries are so pretty…but I'm just so thankful that I don't see them for real anymore. Crocus' on the other hand are some of my favorites…don't see them in Phoenix I don't think..but they are beautiful!

  4. Beautiful flowers!

I know this is kinda a weird blog post for a question, but I would truly love it if you could post on how you take care of some of the "yucky" behaviors that come from children who didn't begin their life in a loving home. i.e.: lying, stealing, constant self preservation at the cost of others.

My son has shown bits and pieces of this, but we thought, through hard work and the grace of the Lord, we had most of it under control. Well, puberty is beginning and all those things are rearing their ugly heads.

    I would covet your thoughts!
    Blessings, Sue

  5. And here I am where it's been RAINING all winter, just wishing that it would snow. I wish I could wear jeans most of the year, and snuggly sweaters. I wish I never had to feel sweat or that horrible feeling that air conditioning gives. (The sad part is, I live in PA, not the south!!!)

    1. Wishing for snow? Oh.me. I am still thawing out from living in Buffalo for the first 31 years of my life. But to those who love snow? May you have it in abundance!! Go for it girlfriend – go for it!
