It’s Not “Routine” and Never Will Be

For those who have been stopping by our Place Called Simplicity
you know “the routine”.
Only it’s not routine to our hearts.

Nor is it routine to their hearts.
Someone once said that as
the years and number of depl*yment go by,
 it gets easier.

They were lying.

This is the 7th and it doesn’t get any easier.
The familiar ache in our hearts is ever present.
Our tears always right at the brim of our eyes.

Precious son, words are inadequate….
at times like these…
But prayer is my strength…
Because God is all powerful, and He is awake when I am not,
He is watching over you,
when we don’t even know where you are,
He has always been faithful.
He loves you far more than all of us who know you combined.
May Almighty God be your shield and your defender.
May He be your rear guard.
May His wisdom be your wisdom.
May His peace comfort your soul.
May His ministering angels tend to your every need.
and may His protective hand bring you safely home.
You are so desperately loved
and
no matter how old you are,
or where your journey takes you in the world,
prayers are whispered non-stop on your behalf,
tears well continually,
so I shut my eyes and think of your amazing smile,
your contagious laugh,
your hysterical sense of humor
and then I picture God’s magnificent arm
sheltering,
shielding,
defending,
advocating,
on your behalf.
Bring ’em home Lord, bring them all home,
safe, sound and whole
Your gorgeous wife,
and children are waiting your safe return.

“A Psalm of David.
Blessed be the LORD,
my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
and my fingers for battle…”
Psalm 144:1 {nas}
Please pray with me for those stationed
around the world and their families.

  1. As a former military wife (my husband retired after 23 years), and a mom to a son in ROTC- waiting his turn, my heart aches for you. My husband and I were married less than 6 months when he went overseas to defend for the first time. My babies were little when he went again. Not to mention the countless times he was away for weeks or months here and there training. It is a tough life for a wife and his children (one I would never exchange though)……I am about to find out how it feels as a mom. I am so proud and so scared all at once. But like you said, God is there, watching and protecting. I will be praying for your son..
    Blessings,
    Sue

  2. My whole family's prayers are with you and you family to keep your son safe. God will watch over him. Please thank him from our family for fighting for our freedom. The freedom that so many take for granted. We don't take it for granted. He represents the heros today!!! Please thank his wife too because I can't even imagine what she goes through!! God bless him and keep him safe! My cousin just returned from his 6th tour and has now retired! I can wait until you all have the peace of knowing he will never have to go back again!!

  3. My youngest brother will leave this summer for basic and then will enter training for special ops in the Air Force. This is a new path of constant prayerful surrender to encourage him to pursue the call the Lord has placed on his life as he enters the same branch of the military our Noah gave his life serving in less than a year ago. My heart and my prayers are with you and with your T as he once again puts it all on the line for a cause that is much bigger than himself. I will be praying Psalm 91 for him and the men he serves with, and join you in the fervent prayer to bring them all home safely, Lord!!

    1. Oh Ab. I can't imagine. Yes, I think of your Noah often. I pray that God continues to minister to your family. Such loss. And thank you for praying Psalm 91 for him. You are precious. You know the feelings. Thank you. Love you.

    1. I will be praying for you and your husband Mom to 5. Your name will be on our prayer board. My heart goes out to you. The military and their families are *true* heroes. xo

  4. Oh Linny, I know how you feel. It is so scary when our children are not with us. It does not matter what their age is…they are always are little ones. I am keeping you and all others who have loved ones in the military in my prayers. God knows the plans he has for Tyler. May you take comfort in this. As scared as I was about my son wanting to be in the marines, I do feel reassured that God will take care of him. It is tough though.

    1. Thank you Andee. You are a blessing. I have no idea how old you are, but Dw and I lost a baby many years ago. We named her Andrea {her nickname Andee}…she would be 28 now. Love seeing your name here. Ministers to my soul and tears as well as a smile. Bless you.

  5. Linny, you know the Hintz crew is praying for the Lord's strong arms to be ever present around your son… his wife and you all as you wait and pray… may our gracious God protect him and carry you all through this time!!! Love to you all!

  6. When a soldier goes to war/deploys, the family does too. We were married 3 months before my guy deployed to the sandbox. SO NOT FUN!! The man I said goodbye too, was not the same man that came home.

Praying for your precious boy and the rest of the family!

    Blessings,
    Suzanne

  7. We thank our servicemen, always, but often forget to thank their families, whose sacrifice is huge. We appreciate you….we love you…..we are praying for your son, his wife and children, and all of you in his family.

    1. You are such a blessing Becky. I know that you have those yellow ribbons around for our Tyler and my eyes well with tears that you care that much. Thank you. It's such a serious thing. So thankful I was able to hug your neck once upon a time across the ocean in your beautiful country. xoxo Happy camping!

  11. Tears are rolling down my face reading that. Ribbons are still around the house, but as going away to see parents and camping I have 2 in the VW campervan. 1 by the steering wheel the other on the door handle that will be above the bed. My handbag and keys another. As we live in different times zones I get to pray also when you're asleep. Praying for you all. Love you all lots XXX

  12. I am grateful, grateful, grateful to all those that serve. Those I know, family, friends and those I have never met. It is a huge calling and sacrifice felt by so many. But also something to be so blessed with. Having someone in your family who has made that choice to serve us all. Again, I am grateful to them all and will be praying daily for the angels of protection to be around them. For God mighty hand to protect lead and guide them. For all of their safe returning home. In my minds eye I see God's spiritual army going to battle as well. Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. Praying, susan

  13. I am praying for the safety of your Son and all of his fellow soldiers. May the Lord protect them and give them the graces they will need during this time. I am also praying for Emma and your new family member too. Will you update us now that her blog is private? I wish every Blessing for you and all of the family. Thank you for your wonderful Christian witness and testimony. God Bless!

  14. thank you for declaring and standing on Gods promises and His healing hands. I am watching my daughter be healed by the day so when you speak of it, my heart soars and my spirit screams YES!!! Jesus has me on a journey that is tough but boy oh boy am I thankful because had He not allowed us down this road, I would still be in the same old ugly and sad place. Thank you Jesus!!!
