Not to Share Would be Just Plain Mean

With corn in season…….

The other day we had something that was so stinkin’ yummy it would probably be considered
mean not to share.  {Savannah found the recipe on her Pinterest.}

Here’s what we did:

Buy the corn in the husk.

Do nothing, but take the corn in it’s husk and put it on the grill.

Grill for 20 minutes, as is.

While corn is grilling for those 20 minutes, cut several limes in half.
I confess, I am not really a giant lime lover.  So I was a bit hesitant.
But opted to throw my taste buds to the wind and just go with it.

After 20 minutes, remove corn from grill.

Remove the husk.

Take now husked corn and squeeze the lime while sliding lime up and down each cob.

Put in a baking dish and cover until ready to serve.

No need for butter.

It is that yummy.

I could have eaten 4 cobs {easily}.

You all will be relieved to know that I did restrain myself.

However,
it was not easy.

We made it again the next day.

I could hardly wait.

Easy-peasy.

So has anyone else ever done corn this way before?
And if you haven’t, but try it, I’d be curious to know if it’s just me who liked it so??

  1. Oh yum! I'm a huge lime lover so I will definitely try this!

I have a strange but great recipe too that I think I saw Paula Deen make a long long time ago.

Husk the corn. Mix up mayo (I do NOT like mayo so please know that is how good this is), parm cheese, a dash of garlic powder and some black pepper. Slather on the corn cobs. Wrap them in foil and stick on the grill for 20-30 mins. I'm telling you….choirs of angels will sing it is that good.

    1. I read your comment and started to giggle. From a non-lime liker who loves lime on corn to a disliker of mayo but likes it bunches on corn {okay, truly it sounds disgusting}…your "choirs of angels will sing – it is that good…" just strikes me so funny…try it and I'll try your recipe. xo

  2. I will try it when we finally get some corn around here. That is how I make my corn, but I just eat it as is – no butter, but this sounds interesting. I do a lot of times sprinkle chipotle powder on my corn. 🙂

  3. Yes we cook our corn like that on the grill and love it that way but haven't ever tried lime on it. You can husk it by cutting the end opposite the normal opening side and then holding it by the silk/husk at the top and give it a good shake. This gets all the corn silk off easily but I seem to never remember to do it this way.

    1. Oh Margy, I'm not sure I could handle lime on watermelon. I'm gonna' have to think on that for a long time. I *love* watermelon, but just not sure with the lime on it.

  4. Yes, it's yummy! That is how they prepare it in Honduras. We were there this winter adopting our third little treasure, and there are roadside stands all over. (I've had it at roadside stands several other places too, but this is the only place I have ever had it with lime.) They grill it, then give it to you with cut up chunks of lime and coarse salt. Rub on the lime then sprinkle with a little bit of salt. I can eat a lot of it too!! So yum. My mouth is watering thinking about it……

    1. Honduras? Well they are just way ahead of the game, no doubt! The coarse salt sounds yummy. I actually didn't even put salt on mine. {Normally I do.} Might need to see if I can buy some coarse salt…I have been buying sea salt lately…

And a big Congratulations on your third treasure…

You writing about your experience in Honduras made my mouth water as well. I've never been to the Caribbean or anywhere else like it, but it sounds so beautiful!

  5. I have never heard of this in my life. I will have to give it a try the next time we grill out which is very often. I am allergic to corn! Have to wear a medical alert necklace as corn is in everything! Just everything. Even the sugar they use in IV fluid! But I will give it go for the rest of the crew. I bet they will love it. It is amazing how great food taste just plain and simply prepared. Just have to combine the right things! Thanks for sharing. Blessings!

    1. You poor thing!! I'm not addicted to corn, but what a bummer to be so highly allergic. I'm sorry. What a good sport to prepare for your family. I am allergic to pineapple and it's in more things than most would guess. So although I know it's not the same, I get the having to check everything to see about pineapple. Bless you!

    1. You'll have to let me know if you like it, once you can try it. We have actually seen propane tanks at yard sales. I'll pray you find a used one that works awesome!!

  6. I told you I would give this recipe a try next time we grilled out. Well today was the day! (Fathers Day) Everyone loved it. Thanks so very much for sharing. I am always looking for the good simple healthy recipes out there. This one could not be more simple! Blessings!
